Community General Osteopathic Hospital Hospital
The hospital had to order a larger wheelchair and potty chair for me and they didn't arrive until 3:00 the day after my surgery. By that time my back was extremely sore from lying in the bed. They said it was because it was the first week the bariatric wing was open but it wasn't the first weight loss surgery they've done there so they had to have known about needing larger equipment.
All the nurses I had were extremely nice and were very quick to help me when I needed them. There was one nurse my last night that was very annoying and I was glad when she left. I asked for something to help me sleep or for pain because of my back and she said "okay just let me watch this" then stood there and watched tv in my room for 5 minutes. I should have said something but I was afraid she'd never come back with my pain meds.
The day before I was due to leave I was told they needed to move me to another room because there were only going to be 2 bariatric patients left and they weren't going to keep nurses there for just 2 of us. I had requested a private room upon check-in but was told that I probably wouldn't get one once I was moved. My nurse tried to tell the women that was in charge that I needed a private room because of all my equipment but she refused to give me one. They finally said I could have a private room if we paid for it.
They need to understand that if someone needs the larger wheelchairs and pottychairs they cannot go into a room with a roommate. The rooms just are not large enough.
