Karen Marschel Dietitian / Nutritionist Registered Dietician

A registered dietician and certified diabetes educator, Karen Marschel is an integral member of the bariatric team at Glacial Ridge Health System. Her specialties are in diabetes, weight management and  bariatric surgery. Her passion for helping people with diabetes began when she realized that many of the problems her dad had been dealing with from diabetes could have been prevented. She has prediabetes herself and uses her personal experience to help others as well. In addition to the bariatric nutrition program, Karen also manages the hospital's Living with Diabetes program. In the program, she provides patients with the information, skills, and tools they need to understand and take care of their diabetes day to day. She specializes in providing practical Diabetic education in topics such as self-care, medications, insulin pump therapy, diet, exercise, and medical conditions associated with diabetes.
