John S. Weaver Bariatric Surgeon MD, FACS

Dr. John S. Weaver, Bariatric Surgeon John Weaver, MD, FACS is a bariatric surgeon specializing in general and advanced laparoscopic surgery at the Denver Center for Bariatric Surgery. A native of Colorado, he attended Nanjing University in China and studied Asian language and political science. He returned to the United States where he obtained his undergraduate degree from Colgate University in Hamilton, New York graduating Magna Cum Laude. He earned his medical degree at the University of Colorado School of Medicine, where he also completed an internship and his residency. He fellowship trained in Minimally Invasive Surgery at Emory University in Georgia. Board-certified, Dr. Weaver is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS), a member of the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES), American Medical Association (AMA), Colorado Medical Society (CMS), and the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS). He is affiliated with Rose Medical Center, Sky Ridge Medical Center, The Medical Center of Aurora, and Presbyterian St. Luke’s Medical Center. He also offers balloon therapies which are non-surgical procedures. Dr. Weaver has a special interest in the surgical approach to gastro-esophageal reflux disease, laparoscopic hernia surgery, and esophageal dysmotility disorders. He has the distinction of being the only surgeon at Rose Medical Center performing the Linx® procedure for the treatment of gastro-esophageal reflux disease. Additionally, Dr. Weaver is now evaluating patients suffering from reflux for the new EsophyX, incisionless anti-reflux procedure.
