He serves as the Co-Director of The Utah Center for Minimally Invasive and Bariatric Surgery (CMIBS) at Jordan Valley Medical Center, a Steward Family Hospital. He earned his undergraduate degree from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio and his medical degree at Ohio State University College of Medicine. He completed his residency in general and trauma surgery at Ohio State University, where he became interested in bariatric surgery and minimally invasive surgical techniques. This interest led him to fellowship training in minimally invasive bariatric surgery and robotic surgery with the Center for Minimally Invasive Surgery at Ohio State University Medical Center. Passionate about patient care, education, and surgical leadership, Dr. Eakin was awarded Housestaff Teacher of the Year, Surgery Resident Teacher of the Year, and General Surgery Chief Resident of the Year. He was also inducted into The Arnold P. Gold Foundation for Humanism and Excellence (HETA). This prestigious honor recognizes his commitment to teaching and compassionate treatment of patients and families, as well as to students and colleagues.
