William O'Malley Bariatric Surgeon M.D., F.A.C.S.
I met with Dr. O'Malley My first impression of him was he is all business, he knows his stuff.rnHe has been on the Oprah show and has ben rated on of the best surgeons in the country.rnHe went over all the information I needed to know and was informative to me on the risks of surgery.rnrnDr. O'Malley made me feel real comfortable about the surgery he came in to talk to me before I went in and he was very nice and understanding,I was not worried at all. After surgery he came in to see me a couple of times and he was very nice, brisk and in a hurry but very efficient and very imformative. I would reccommend him to anyone who is interested in bariatric surgery.
Dr O'Malley knows His stuff ..lets You know that this surgery is not a cure to Your problems..its a TOOL ...I was very impressed at how down to earth he was ..he explained things in great detail ..i felt very confident in my choice of surgeons..rnDr O'Malley has the best after care program around ..He cares about his patients long term health.rnrnPersonally i dont give a hoot about bedside manner ..i am not looking for a clown ..i was looking for the best surgeon and thats exactly what He is ..I felt so comfortable putting my life in hands ..i was not nervous ..did not have second thoughts ...rnrnDr O'Malley Is #1 !!!
Dr. W. O'Malley is a very skilled professional with good bedside manners. He is extremely busy and does not waste time with idle chit chat but is open to any questions or concerns you have. If you are looking for a friend, he's not your guy, but if you want a GREAT surgeon, he's definately the one. His aftercare is very structured and his team is great with post-op check ups. In my opinion, he's a wonderful surgeon and if you are priviledged to have him as your doctor, you are quite lucky!!
My first impression of Dr. O was he was a very strict surgeon who is unbending on minor and major details. He was very informative and made sure you understood all that this surgery involves.rnMy impression is still the same I do not think i would want to have surgery with ne one but her. However I have only spoke with him once. Dr. O's office staff my my my what should I say! Marry anne was great and the Nutritionist wonderful the psyche was very impersonal and uncaring the front desk lady left alot to be desired however she was friendly. My overall impression is that they all need fine tuning but when they have everything figured out they will be the best there is. The one thing that I don't like about Dr. Omalley is that he sees you once and then the next time I will see him he will be operating on me. This isn't that good. Future patients of Dr. Omalley should know that you need to keep track of everything cus his office doesn't. After care is really important with Dr.Omalley you have to sign a form agreeing to attend his post op appointments. Yes i believe his after care program will be very structured. He explained the risks of surgery very bluntly and understandably.rnI would rate him overal a 7.5 because he could use some improvement in his office organization. I believe surgical competence is the most important the bedside manner can be worked on.
My first impression about dr o'malley was that he is a man that knows what he is doing,he made me feel verry comfortable explained to me all the riskes and the chance that i might have to have the surgery open. He was wonderfull in the hospital answered all of my question,i would rate him a 10 on 10,his staff is also wonderfull they are all over worked ,the nurses at highland hospital are also wonderull and verry caring, they all made me feel well taking cared of.I would recommend dr o'malley to anybody who is looking for a wls surgeon.
Dr. O'Malley appears to be a very skilled surgeon who is genuinely concerned about obese people. He was very informative when he explained the operation to the people at the seminar, and very patient to answer all questions and comments posed to him. He did not beat around the bush by pretending that this surgery will be a cure for those of us who are obese. He did say very clearly that if you do not use this tool correctly, you will gain back any weight that you do lose as a result of the operation.
I had a positive experience with Dr. O'Malley. He has an awesome reputation, and is a laparascopic expert. He has done over 2000 cases, 3/4 of them laparascopic. rnrnHe was very professional, the hospital course was good, and everything went exactly as planned. The nursing staff could have been better at assessing and helping me with pain in the first 24 hours. THat is my only complaint.rnrnHe is a surgeon in the Highland Hospital Bariatric Center of Excellence in Rochester NY.rnrnHe was crystal clear from day one about risks and benefits of surgery.rnrnHis nurse practitioner sees his patients for all postoperative visits, and they make that clear from the beginning as well. rnrnHH has a wonderful support group called MONARCH that is for anyone preop, postop, or just interested in learning more.
