Wes J. Powell Bariatric Surgeon M.D., F.A.C.S.
Dr. Powell and his staff have been excellent to work with. Dr Powell is very thoughtful and takes time to make his patients feel comfortable and explains the entire WLS process completely. His staff have all been very pleasant and prompt with their return calls and information. Huntington Memorial hospital is like no other I've ever experienced. Every person I encountered was extremely nice and great at their repective jobs. I can't wait to have surgery there.
Dr Powell was and continues to be very interested in how I feel and seems to address any questions I have on a timely basis. The staff is helpful and he did give me the pros and cons of surgery. He has a good bedside manner and after 6 months I am having no problems. My husband also went to Dr Powell and is 2 months out and doing great. I think he could be a little stronger on after care in regard to diet he pretty much leaves it up to you to figure out what works and doesn't work.
Dr. Powell impressed me with his kindness, willingness to explain details, and tell me in plain English. His symposium was excellent, honest, and informative. The office staff was wonderful. The whole process was clearly explained and progressed smoothly. The surgical team has worked together a long time and it shows. The hospital staff all speak highly of Dr. Powell and the team. Very impressive. A friend of mine had the surgery 2 years ago with Dr. Powell and her recommendations were accurate. Dr. Powell is an angel. Both his surgical competence and bedside manner are excellent - I always felt that I was in good hands and kept informed.
My first impression of Dr. Powell was that he was very personable and really made you feel comfortable about your situation. He has remained very high in my book. His office staff is wonderful and absolutely ready to answer ant question you might have. I would reccomend Dr. Powell because he has a wonderful bedside manner. He beleives that it is vital to maintain a consistant aftercare program and he did not beat around the bush about the risks involved. I would definately rate Dr. Powell at 10
My first impression of Dr. Powell was he is very nice and professional. He seems to care about his patients. He was concerned I am so young but seemed to understand completely why I wanted the surgery. Dr. Powell was always offering me a chance to change my mind at any time. My impression of him is still good, but when the office staff canceled my scheduled surgery without notice upset me a lot. I believe it was an office mix up with scheduling. My papers were given to me and my co-payment was returned, without explanation. One month later I talked to Dr. Powell and now my surgery is scheduled again. Surgery is scheduled for Jan 4, 2005. I believe surgical competence is most important.
