Dr. Mehta and his staff (especially Lulu) are great!! Dr. Mehta has a great bedside manner and takes the time to talk to you and answer any and all questions that you may have. My situation was differenct than most. I had an old gastric banding placed in back in 1985. My surgery was performed by a surgeon who no longer practices. The banding had gone bad and erroted through my stomach causing a lot of pain. I had gone to many doctors and finally met Dr. Mehta who decided to help me by performing corrective surgery to remove the band and perform the new gastric bypass. I was back up to 225 lbs and I am now down to 140 lbs. My husband met with Dr. Mehta while he was in the hospital and liked his manners and asked me to call him. I had no problem getting an appointment and he explained everything I needed to know. I had the surgery and I am now feeling great and no longer in pain. I love Dr. Mehta and his staff. I felt I made a great choice and I am glad he tok my case on and helped me out.

I chose Dr. Mehta because he came highly recommended by my gastrointestinal doctor. Before surgery my maximum weight was 338 lbs. My current weight, one year post-op is 205 lbs. I had no trouble getting an appointment with Dr. Mehta's office and I found the staff to be kind and very informative and supportive. Dr. Mehta answered all of my questions throughly and was very attentive when I developed post op complications. I have not taken advantage of the support staff in place, but I know they're available should I need them. I would highly recommend Dr. Mehta and the Mehta Bariatric Center to anyone considering bariatric surgery. It has made a tremendous impact on my life.

I had been contemplating gastric bypass surgery for a long time but never seriously looked into it. I tried several diets such as Weight Watchers, NutriSystem, diet supplements, to no avail. If I had lost weight I would gain it back plus. I met a woman who had gastric bypass surgery who only had good things to say about it. She had it done a few years earlier and used another doctor who was not in this area. I didn't know where to start looking so she steered me in the right direction which led me to Dr. Mehta.

When I first called Dr. Mehta's office, I spoke with Debbie who took time out of her busy day to answer many of my questions. She even gave me her home phone number to call her that evening. I talked to her for 1 1/2 hours and that's when I discovered that she had the surgery, which was performed by Dr. Mehta. My first thought was that she trusted and respected Dr. Mehta so much that she decided to work for him. This convinced me that he was trustworthy and an excellent doctor. I called to make an appointment and he saw me less than a week later. Dr. Mehta's office staff was very professional and worked very hard with me and my insurance company to make this surgery a reality. They took an interest in me as if I were their only patient. I can't thank them enough.

I first met Dr. Mehta early February 2004 and instantly liked him. He was knowledgeable, well-spoken and had a great sense of humor. (It didn't hurt that he was a hottie.) He explained everything concerning the surgery in layman's terms. He welcomed all questions and, I felt, he answered them honestly. He went over the benefits as well as the dangers of the surgery. I was undecided whether I was going to proceed with the surgery when I walked into his office but was convinced to go through with the surgery when I left. I had the privilege of meeting a few of his patients that day who had had the surgery and who were very thankful to Dr. Mehta and had only good things to say about him. My husband was very skeptical regarding the surgery. I asked him to come with me and listen to Dr. Mehta. After meeting with Dr. Mehta, my husband became more supportive although we were still very nervous.

I had my surgery on May 10, 2004 and have lost almost 50 lbs. I have not regretted my decision for a second. I would do it over again in a heartbeat.

I go every month to the support group meetings. It is very informative and I like to meet other people who had the surgery.

I am so thankful to Dr. Mehta, Lulu, Debbie, Kristin and Jessica. There are no words to describe how grateful I am. Thank you all for giving me my life back.

My name is Christine Mancine and I would like to express my opinion about Dr. Mehta and his bariatric program. I am 38 years old and have been overweight most of my life. After having three children ( a 4 year old and 2 year old twins), I found it very hard to lose weight. During my pregnancy with the twins, I weighed about 350 lbs. I found it hard to walk and move (my twins were big - 7.0 and 6.3 lbs). After having the twins, I could not get the weight off. I heard of Dr. Mehta on the radio and decided to go his seminar. I liked Dr. Mehta and decided the surgery was the right thing for me. My friends and family were very supportive. I made the appointment with Dr. Mehta's office and I immediately liked Lulu. She was telling me about her surgery and how positive she was that it would be the right thing for me. Dr. Mehta fully explained the surgery including the risks and benefits. Luckily, I had good insurance and everything went smoothly. I was approved for the surgery and had it performed on 11-5-03. At the time of my surgery I weighed 330 lbs. Presently, 10 months later, I am 235 lbs (I still have a way to go but there is a light at the end of the tunnel). I am very happy that I had the surgery. I think Dr. Mehta is a great doctor and truly appreciate his honesty and good bedside manner. His staff is awesome - very helpful and caring. His "angels" were great as well, coming to the hospital to visit me after the surgery - that was extremely appreciated and they were very informative. Unfortunately, I have not used the nutritionist or personal trainers but I have met them at support groups and find them to be very caring and helpful. I have recommended the Mehta Bariatric Center to many people over the past year and. As a matter of fact my mother is scheduled for the surgery in November of 2004. Thank you, Dr. Mehta, and your staff for being there for all your patietns - keep up the good work!!!

I had a good experience with Dr. Mehta. He is always very clear when explaining answers to my questions. I went from weighing 399 lbs to 260 lbs. I am very happy and glad that I had the surgery performed with Dr. Mehta. His staff is very friendly and kind. My health problems, which I had before the surgery, have improved by 70%. I am still losing weight slowly, but surely. I have referred friends and family to see Dr. Mehta at the Mehta Bariatric Center. I wish him the best in his career.

I chose Dr. Mehta because I had heard very, very good things about him from several other patients who had the gastric bypass by him. I received good results when I called his office. His staff promptly provided me with a package to fill out, and once I returned it to his office, the staff wasted no time in trying to get my insurance company to approve it. Other doctor's offices that I went to, prior to visiting Dr. Mehta, wanted the patient to do all the paperwork but they still wanted to charge the patients. When I went to visit Dr. Mehta's office for the first time, I was very impressed with him, as well as his staff. I explained to Dr. Mehta why I wanted the surgery and how I felt about myself and he understood and listened to me. On the day of my first visit, the office was filled with at least six other patients, who were also there to understand more about the surgery. Dr. Mehta showed a film to us, explaining every step, including all of the risks and possible complications of the surgery.

The bariatric staff is excellent. On the day of my surgery I weighed 294 lbs. One of the staff members was there to visit me the second day of my surgery and has continued to provided support to me since the surgery. Whenever I have called the office, the staff has always guided me the right way and answered all of my questions.

Dr. Mehta is a super surgeon. After my surgery, he came by to check on me in the hospital to make sure I was doing well, and to tell me good days were coming. Also, Dr. Mehta's support group is great and the nutritionist is also very helpful.

If it wasn't for Dr. Mehta, I wouldn't be as beautiful as I am today. I have lost approximately 80 lbs since my surgery on Feb. 9, 2004. I would do it again - all you have to do is follow Dr. Mehta's rules. I feel and look great and I am very happy!!

Someone told me about him and how wonderful he was and so understanding. So I chose to go to him. I called for an appointment and got one in 3 weeks. Everything went great, he was only a phone call away anmd his staff at the office are all wonderful. Some one is always there for you at any time. My girlfriend had the bypass performed by another doctor. She told me she heard good things about Dr.Mehta and he was having a seminar at St Peter's Hospital. I went to the seminar and listened to the speaker, Barbara Thompson and Dr. Mehta's presenttation. After listening to Dr. Mehta I was confidant I was going to go through with the surgery. However, after I spoke to Dr. Mehta, that was when I made the final decision to go forward and have the surgery done.

Dr. Mehta understood how I felt all the previous years and why I did not make the decision sooner. He was easy to speak with and answered all of my questions plus he did not look down at me for being over weight. I truly felt he wanted to hlep me. I had an appointment to see him the following week. The Mehta Bariatric Center's staff was so helpful, especially Lulu. She was so encouraging each time I called and when I finally met her, it was like meeting a friend. I also met with the nutritionist who gave me great recipes.

I had my surgery on January 6, 2004 and I weighed 266 lbs. Now, (8-26-04) I weigh 185 lbs and I feel great. The day of surgery I was taking diabetic medication (pills) twice a day and I was also taking blood pressure medication. Now my sugar is down to 98 and my blood pressure is normal. I wish I had done this years ago, however, as Dr. Mehta told me, I just wasn't ready then and I am glad I had it done now. Thank you Dr. Mehta for all of your help and understanding.

I, Rosa Ucci-Garro, fully support and endorse Dr. Vishal Mehta as a great professional and human being. After many attempts at losing weight, instead gaining more every time I started a new diet and quitting from frustration and anguish, I found myself asking God to help me find a permanent solution to my weight problem I really wanted to make changes. I felt miserable and my health was deteriorating. My blood sugar level was higher than 200. I was gradually becoming a diabetic and my joints hurt all the time. One day I was talking with a friend at work and telling her how I didn't feel well that morning. I knew she understood me because her sister was very overweight and she was always trying to help her. She said that morning, "Hey, I heard about this surgeon that helps people to lose weight." Right away I told her, "Yes, as a matter of fact I heard that commercial this morning and I wrote down the number." We agreed that both of us were going to hear what the doctor had to say at the free seminars that he was offering. I, right away, thought that this might have been the answer from God that I was asking for. I called and found out about the day of the seminar.

Unfortunately, my friend wasn't able to go with me that morning but of course I was going to let her know everything I learned. The seminar took place at the Sheraton Inn hotel in Woodbridge, NJ. There must have been over 150 people there. Everyone was there for obvious reasons...they all wanted to be helped. There were several testimonials and after that Dr. Mehta came into the room and started to explain every step of the way what was involved with the surgery and the risks associated with it. He was very knowledgeable, very warm and answered every question asked with clarity. It was actually great; I didn't have to open my mouth. Everything I wanted to know and more was asked and explained. I was amazed at how much information I gathered that day. And because of that, I wasn't scared anymore. I knew right away that this was what I wanted to do and Dr. Mehta was the doctor that I was going to choose. When he came into the room and started to talk to everyone, he immediately instilled trust in me. He was caring and not judgmental. He knew the struggle that very obese people go through when they try to lose weight. I thank God that I met Dr. Mehta. He was truly a Godsend.

A few days after the seminar, I called his office and set up an appointment. It was real quick, it was the following Thursday. Needless to say I was very pleased and content about the way things were developing. When I met with Dr. Mehta and his staff that Thursday, it was just great. He was just a nice person who made me feel at ease. I explained to him my history and my struggle and I told him that I had really made up my mind about the surgery, but of course I was still a little scared. He assured me that it was normal and he explained to me all the precautions he was taking to prevent all the complications I was concerned about (of course with any surgery, there's some risk involved and this was no other exception). After that appointment, the office manager sent the request for approval to my insurance company. I was ecstatic when only after 2 weeks I received a phone call from the office manager, at the time, and she told me, "Rosa, I want to congratulate you. Your surgery has been approved." It was amazing because I had heard that people go through the approval process for months and here I was getting an approval in 2 weeks (and this also must have been a Godsend). I was actually shaking when I realized that I was about to face some big changes and permanent adjustments in my life. And my surgery appointment was set up to take place in just 3 weeks from that day! Finally the big day came. April 28th, 2003...my re-birthday. The morning was going pretty slow and I was a little nervous and concerned, but when I saw Dr. Mehta, he made all my anxieties go away. He always makes me feel good and at ease. When the time came and they took me to the operating room, he told me what was going on and what was about to happen. His doctor's assistants and nurses were so nice and friendly. Right away, this peace came over me. I knew he was going to take good care of me. I put myself into God's and Dr. Mehta's hands and, thanks to both of them, I am fine. Since that day, I have seen Dr. Mehta as my guardian Angel and friend. He talks to me in the utmost professional way but with warmth of a friend whom that understands the entire struggle that people with weight problems go through. Since then, I have referred other people to his practice and they are as happy and healthy as I am. My family and I are eternally grateful to Dr. mehta. I thank God everyday that he directed me to his practice. Since the day of surgery, I have lost 140 lbs and still losing. I feel great! I look great! And I would do it all over again without any hesitation. In addition to that, I want to add that Dr. Mehta is a very caring and generous person. He sponsors Christmas parties, picnics and other functions not only for the patients, but also for their families. This speaks very highly of the quality of human being that he is. He attends the monthly meetings and talks to everyone there, and everyone there benefits from his team of nutritionists and personal trainers. They're always there to assist you and answer your questions. His staff is the best! If you have researced this type of surgery, being gastric bypass, and you have made up your mind that this is for you, the only right things to do is to choose Dr. Vishal Mehta as your surgeon.

I chose Dr. Mehta because a friend recommended him. I weighed 360 lbs before surgery and I now weigh 240 lbs. I lost 120 lbs in four months!! I suffered from severe sleep apnea and I had high blood pressure where I was taking 4 medications a day. I feel great!! I know I look great. This was the best thing I could have done for myself. Dr. Mehta and the Mehta Bariatric Center were very helpful, compassionate and wonderful! Dr. Mehta made it possible for me to enjoy life again! My wife says Dr. Mehta saved my life. Our deepest thanks to Dr. Mehta and his fantastic staff.
