Adjustable Gastric Band
Not even three weeks post op but I'm feeling different already. I've lost 24 lbs and although I have to wrap my head around the fact that 24 lbs is pretty darned good, I keep expecting more! I originally had lapband surgery with Dr. Andrei, but that didn't work very well for me. As I had a prolapse on top of the band, it was removed and I decided to do the gastric bypass. The surgery went well and the only discomfort I felt was the gas pains shooting across my back and shoulders. However, even that was tolerated because I did the deep breathing and walking.rnI am very pleased with Dr. Andrei and his staff. They are so helpful and caring and actually listen when you talk! I never feel like I'm being ignored or dismissed!rnI am going to take pictures every month to see the difference. When I look in the mirror, It's hard for me to see the changes. My clothing, however, tells a different story. I am already one size down and some of the clothing that fit very comfortably 24 lbs. ago, have got to be given away!rnYesterday a woman came into my office that hadn't seen me since the end of June. Her immediate reaction was \"Oh my God, you've lost weight!\" I can't tell you how good that felt! Sometimes you need someone else to assure you that you are indeed losing weight because the scale can be frightening!rnI've experienced some nausea after I eat but perhaps it is because I am going over the 4 ounces. I'm going to be very diligent measuring and see if that makes a difference. I never felt like throwing up, just nausea for about a half hour after I eat. Again, I'm not even three weeks after surgery, so my innards are probably still swolen!rnMy need to alleviate pain in my back and knees overcame my fear of having surgery and I must say, I'm glad I did!
I thought Dr. Andrei was very nice, and informative at our first meeting. He made me feel comfortable with the decision to have this surgery. The office staff is always on top of everything and helpful with every step and issue I had. They took care of all the paperwork necessary with minimal for me to do easing the process of things. Dr. Andrei and his staff explain in detail everything you need to know about the risks, aftercare, follow ups, etc. so there is no confusion. I would rate Dr. Andrei and his staff a 10. (10 being the best). I would say surgical competence is way better, however having a good bed side manner is great also. Dr. Andrei has both! I recommend him to everyone I speak to.
When I first came to the office of Dr. Andrei, I didn't know what to expect. The butterflies were present as well as the nervousness. However, everyone on the staff including himself made me feel like the procedure would change my life. And boy has it! Dr. Andrei walked and talked me through what I would expect. But, what really encouraged me was when I received the personal touch of his calling me at home and asking me if I had any questions. He let me know that I could call him at anytime with any questions or concerns. Since my procedure and the subsequent follow up visits, everything seems to be working out great. I'm already down 85 pounds in less than 6mos. So, I'm happy and working hard. I'm trying to make the 100 pound plateau by my 6mo anniversary. And I'll do it.
