Dr. Geocaris was wonderful. At my appointment to get my surgery date I brought my mom and he took the time to draw out how the surgery would be done
I was really happy with Dr. Tom Geocaris. His waiting room was full of people and he still took the time to answer all my questions and made sure I was comfortable with everything before I left.
During my stay in the hospital he only stopped by a couple of times and he was very brief, but that didn't bother me to much.
I liked that he was very positive and optimistic about me and the surgery itself. I felt very good that he was performing my procedure.
I do have a structured aftercare program and that is why I chose him.
Overall, I would rate him a great surgeon. I was suppose to have the procedure done laprascopically, but it ended up open because he couldn't see very well, but that was something I was told about and it happens to a lot of patients. Surgical competence was really important for me. I had a really great nursing staff for the bedside thing. :)
I didnt realize in the beginning that he requires all money not covered by insurance to be paid up front BEFORE surgery!!
My initial visit was quick, I certainly did not get a warm, fuzzy feeling. He was brisk, but professional.
The office staff has been spectacular. Very nice, friendly and warm. They actually call you back!!

The doctor did not talk about aftercare at all. The office has a class that you attend serviced by the nurses who will be n attendence while inpatient at the hospital.
Yes, there is a aftercare program and it appears to be a good one.
The doctor did not discuss risks of surgery.

I found Dr. Geocaris to be a very frinedly man..answered questions that I asked very well..did find him to be reassuring..not degrading in any way..has a positive outlook for bariatric patients.dr. even seemed to be aware of time it took for insurance approval..got the ball rolling for me immediatly.Now we will have to see how good his staff is.Dr. does have a structured after care program,and a preoperative program.
