Dr. Clark is an excellent doctor. He is knowledgeable in his field, and he is always willing and ready to answer any questions I may have. My first impression of Dr. Clark was that he was incredibly well versed in the field of bariatric surgery, and he answered every question I had in our very first appointment. When I got my surgery date, Dr. Clark made sure that I knew everything that was going to happen. He made sure my husband was with me, so he could know what to do after my surgery. Dr. Clark is a caring and wonderful doctor, I would recommend him to anyone who is considering weight loss surgery.
Dr. Clark is amazing! He's a very knowledgeable physician and very caring! He takes the time to explain everything and answer all your questions. He at no point has ever made me feel like I was taking the "easy way out" or that by making the choice to have surgery, that I was weak.
Dr. Clark stresses the Weight Management University aftercare program. While it's a great program, it is not covered by insurance and will have to be paid out of pocket. The center really pushes the purchase of the supplements that are in their store, but it's not required. In some ways, that feels like a sales ploy, but I know that he has his patients best interests at heart.
His office staff are very friendly, but sometimes seem a bit aloof and disassociated.
As an overall measure, Dr. Clark, his staff and his program get a resounding 2 thumbs up from me!
After meeting with Dr. Clark and additional members of staff today I am so happy to part of such a wonderful team! I finally got my surgery date--Sept 20th--and everyone was so pleasant and patient during the process. I have all my appointments scheduled all the way until November! I am ready to begin my new life and, as Dr. Clark would say, "make it a healthy one"!

I cannot say enough good things about this man, he has given me my life back and enabled to me to lose the excess weight and return to a healthy lifestyle. His support and surgical expertise has brought me back to life when I was on the cusp of death!.
This surgeon is exceptional he made me feel comfortable with my decision to have the rny instead of the lap band.
My first impression of Dr. Clark was one of admiration back 10 years ago when my husband had the surgery I am scheduled to have. He was very pleasant and well informed on any questions that we were able to ask. I am now even more impressed that he has made his practice so precise and also continues to improve and gain knowledge in this area of medicine. Dr. Clark is very open about how the aftercare of exercise and eating habits and how it is a lifestyle change and he stresses that is what makes the surgery and you a success story...by following the means necessary.I must say that the aftercare has improved immensely over the years and that is something that impresses me alot. Dr. Clark has always been very straight forward with the risks and he does so compassionately and with the why it is a risk. I rated him high ten years ago and I must say he is rated high now. I love how he has adapted to how the evolution of this procedure and in my opinion, he has good bedside manner and his surgical competence, well, it speaks for itself.
Dr. Clark was very knowledgeable about the Lap-Band and tells it like it is. At the weight loss seminar a young lady claimed the weight loss surgery was to blame for why she had 3 children back to back, and another young lady said the Lap-Band didn't work well enough for her. Dr. Clark corrected them & explained that weight loss surgery can correct infertility but doesn't make you pregnant. To the other young lady, he said eating right & exercising is key to the success with the Lap-Band. He admitted that there were people who did not lose any weight with the Lap-Band, & he suggested that WE are the key to our own success with this surgery.
I am very pleased with Dr. Clark and his whole program at the Weight Loss Surgery Center of Hampton Roads. He has this down to a science...preop to postop. Every person I met who is involved with the program, be it the trainer at the gym or the girl who works behind the desk at the Center for Metabolic Health, are all well-informed/knowledgeable about weight loss surgery, extremely pleasant, and patient.
My first impression of Dr. Clark was this man is awesome. He is very friendly and he put my mind at ease. He gave me all the information I needed he showed me exactly where the incisions would be at on my abdomen. He gave you time to ask questions he listened and gave you the best answer he could give you. I will be having the lapband surgery I'm just waiting forinsurance clearance. I am really looking forward to the surgery and all my follow up appt. because like I said this is a great doctor and the staff is great also. I recommend Dr. Thomas Clark at the WLSC in Newport News VA to anyone considering weight loss surgery. He's great and so are the staff. A. Delk
