Ted Scott Bariatric Surgeon M.D.
Not to confuse everyone but if you looked at my profile before you will know I use to have Dr. Newhoff was my surgeon. However if you read the updates you will see why it all changed.
Now to report on Dr. Scott. I have only met him once ... he is a quiet man but seems very compassionate for the people he treats. I will update more as I get to know him.
When I first met Dr. Scott, I thought he was mean. He didn't smile much, but after a while he was making me laugh. From the day I submitted my paperwork and even after my surgery, his staff have been supportive, helpful, informative, and considerate about my feelings. Dr. Scott,is very professional, but a caring physician. He always answered my questions, and assured me that this was the right thing to do. He is strict about the post-op diet, gives you the necessary information needed to keep going. Support groups are available weekly. In my consultation his assistant addressed the risk factors involved, both short and long term. The only negative aspect, was the nursing staff at the hospital, which is in no way connected with Dr. Scott. Overall, I would highly recommend anyone considering bariatric surgery to consider Dr. Scott as a surgeon.
So far I have had a surgical consult with Dr. Capps and so has a friend of mine. We both found him very up front with us. He seemed a bit touchy when I asked him the difference between proximal and distal RNY, but all in all he seems competent. We didn't "bond" like my friend and he did, but he was nice and helpful.
Change in surgeons since Dr. Capps is going to the war (he is a military fella). Now have Dr. Wiltse. Am hoping to meet him when I go for the pre-op.He is my friend Tracy's surgeon and she can't say enough nice things about him, which is cool because she is a long standing surgical nurse and asked all the really intelligent questions. :)
Uhhh change in surgeons again..got all the way up to booking my surgery only to find that I didn't quit smoking in time. I have only been smoke free for a week and a half and they will only do it if you are smoke free for 6-8weeks. Well, I have already booked the time off and everything. So now going with my other friend's surgeon, Dr. Scott. Haven't spoken with him at all, but my friend, her sister and brother in law have and are having surgery with this fellow. So far his office staff have been wonderful!!!
I havent met with Dr. Scott yet. I am waiting for them to contact me for my first appointment. I just sent them my packet, and insurance information.
I met with Dr. Scott this week, and he is awesome. He is very caring. He rescheduled my surgery for Monday the 27th, because he will be out of town this weekend, and he wants to be there my whole post-op, which I thought was great. He was very thorough with all his pre op testing, and very careful.
I highly recommend him.His staff, Patti, Amy, are TERRIFIC. The rate tops.
Dr.Scott was wonderfull and his staff is as well. I could not be happier with the surgery and after care he has provided.Him and his staff came to visit me when i had my surgery that was a BIG A+. I have recommended him to a couple of my friends and my Family doctor was pleased with the way things went he wanted DR.Scotts name and phnoe number to refer his other patients to him. =)
I really liked him. He was rather dry but so was my dad (gone since 86) and he even had my dad's hands. (both red heads) Anyway, great surgeon-- i discussed him with several of the hospital staff. I could tell they all had great respect for his abilities and liked him as well. He seems to be really concerned with your after care. He gives a list of things that mite happen that you should call him about and also added "if in doubt as what to do --ALLWAYS call Dr Scott. His office staff are wonderful. The receptionist/office mngr has even had it done herself. We really didnt discuss the risks much. I went there knowing what I wanted (open Rny) he agreed it was the best, told him i had done research and we were pretty much set on go. I had all my preops done today and yesterday (just got home) he even does an EGD beforehand. I hadnt heard that before. Felt good about it in case i do have to have one in the future (endoscopy)I would rate him and his staff 10. I believe his surgical competence is great. I could see where someone might be put off by his bedside manner (or lack of) Like I said before he reminds me of my dad, and I like his dry sense of humor.
Dr. Scott is the best I have known him all my life.
Him and staff are the friendliest people you could meet, and will answer all your questions and some you did not even think to ask.
Dr.Scott stresses the importance of taking your vitamins and protein for the rest of your life, he has a wonderful aftercare program, including support group appointments with him to check your nutrional levels and to so he can see how you are doing.
he told me the truth about the risks of surgery
i would rate Dr. Scott a 10, for he is the most caring and nicest doc, and he gave me all the facts. pros and cons.
