Stephen McColgan Bariatric Surgeon M.D.
I met with my surgeon a few weeks ago, and I have to say - he made me feel really comfortable immediately. He answered all my questions, and my level of confidence in him is high.
He's a very nice man, very approachable and seems genuinely compassionate towards those of us with morbid obesity.
The only negative is that he and his office did not supply me with enough information to make an informed decision. I really had to find the materials myself (books, this site, where to go for questions, etc).
First impressions aside, I did a little of my own investigating, and found that he is very well thought of in the field. So I'm happy with my choice. I interviewed a few other (local) doctors, and am making the decision to go with Dr. McColgan -- even though I will have to fly to LA and stay there for 2 weeks post-op.
Dr. McColgan and Dr. Dihiya are the best. I was treated like a queen. The hospital at St. Mary's was nice. They took care of my insurance and I insisted on a date and they worked hard to get me that date. Renee, Gloria, Gretle and Heather have treated me like I was a relative which made everything very easy for me. But the Bariatric Coordinator at the hospital Kay was absoulutly the best I cannot say enough wonderful things about her. This was a wonderful experience entering my new life.
