Stephen McColgan Bariatric Surgeon M.D.

My surgery technically was handled by the Laparoscopic Bariatric Specialists' TEAM, which means it wasn't all handled by Dr. McColgan. But as a team, these guys got very high marks. All of them were clued into my health needs, were very friendly and supportive, as well as very informative and frank about the surgery and what I could look forward to.

I had three surgeons and they are the best team ever assembeled. (1) Dr Dihiya, (2)Dr McColgan, (3) Dr Deutch. They are really concerned about you. There staff as everything down to a science. All my questions were answered and I feel so blessed that they are part of my life. I was having back pain three days after surgery and I called them because I was concerned but the rest of me felt fine. They would not take NO for an answer and insisted that I go to my local emergency room for a swallow test, you see they were looking after me. I would recommend them to anyone who is seeking WLS..

I have seen two surgeons in this group, Last visit setting up surgery date and reviewing all my tests. I felt very good about my choice in surgeons. I realize that this is a group so I am not quite sure which of the three surgeons will actually perform the surgery but they have built great confidence in me with the professionalism of the staff, the carefulness of all the testing, and the general positive atitude in the whole process. This office has addressed the risks very well, I have felt very well informed at every step.There is a structured aftercare,followups and required support groups.

My surgical team actually consists of Dr. Deutsch, Dr. Dahiya and Dr. McColgan. At this point I have met them all. My time with Dr. Deutsch was limited, but my overall perception was 'what a dynamic trio'. They all have very different styles and personalities, I felt confortable and confident with all of them.

Dr. McColgan and Dr. Dahiya are simply the best! From the moment I met them, I had full confidence in them. Their staff is on the ball and ready to help at a moment's notice (thanks Gloria, Heather, Gretel and Bridget!!!)

Aftercare is an essential, and the doctors always have plenty of time to go over your progress and assist with advice as you evolve after surgery.

In addition, the aftercare program is thorough, with only the most knowledgeable and friendly guest speakers invited to address the patients. Information is abundant, and the support from patient to patient is something I can't do without. Thank you Bridget for doing such a wonderful job with our aftercare!!!!

His patients impressed me, and he answered all of my questions. The office is nice, with a friendly staff, however I later realized that having this surgery is a process, and I am n glad that they did not over load me with information all at once. I know that my doctors are in high demand, and I appreciate the time they took out for me.

I actually got a chance to meet the team of surgeons that did my surgery, and I was totally blown away by the way the treated me. They didn’t have a God complex and were down to earth men. We had a medical conversation and a regular conversation about my feelings, and expectations. I highly recommend them! Dr. Dahiya is all that and a bag of chips! I have more interaction with him and his associate Dr. Deutsch. Dr. Deutsch is not only handsome, he is God sent. I remember seeing Dr. McColgan briefly and for the record he is wonderful as well. Dr. McColgan and Dr. Dahiya have been very professional and made certain that my qestions were answered. I feel safe in their hands and know that I will have a positive experience through my surgery and following life change. The office staff have bent over backwards to help both myself and my friend and have always had a smile to offer too. My surgery is scheduled for Dec. 11th so I am certain I will have more to say then.

I am five months post op and I can't say enough about how wonderful Dr. McColgan and Dr. Dahiya have been. They have been extremely supportive in helping me adjust to my life changes. I am down a little over seventy pounds and truly doing well. My thanks to my surgeons and the entire staff at their office and at St. Mary's Hospital in Long Beach.

I met with Dr. McColgan twice before surgery and I also met his partner Dr. Dahiya. I immediately felt at ease with both of them.
I have been treated like a queen. My appointments have never felt rushed. All of my questions have been answered. While I was in surgery the bariatric coordinator for St. Mary's kept my family informed and after surgery Dr. McColgan came out and talked to them to let them know all was OK. All of the office staff is great. They all have smiles on their faces when I go in. The office wait has never been very long. They have a patient coordinator in the office that has had the surgery and he comes out and talks to the patients and their families while they are waiting to be seen. I would rate the doctors and their office staff a 10 out of 10!
