Spencer A. Holover Bariatric Surgeon MD, FACS, FASMBS

Just met with him once so far and he seemed extremely knowledgable. Will post more after the ball gets rolling.

I was referred to Dr. Holover after having to leave another surgeon, Dr. Kurian whom I really liked, but she didn't take my insurance. My first impression of him was that he was knowledgable and confident. He took his time with me and my parents during our first visit, carefully explaining away our fears and concerns. Over time the only change I've noticed is that our office visits are usually rushed. His physician's asst Donna fills in for him and she operates at a slower, gentler pace which I appreciate. I think his aftercare needs a little improvement. That's not to say he isn't a polite, competent doctor, just that he doesn't seem to have more than 2 minutes per visit. These are just my personal impressions though. The staff is generally nice, but I don't get any warm and fuzzies from them (I guess that's NY for you).rnrnIn my opinion, surgical competence coupled with a professional, but warm bedside manner is a must. Dr. Holover achieves this, to a degree, but I'd work on his bedside manner a little.

I love my surgeon, and the office staff is GREAT! After dealing with some many different doctors, trying to get to this point, I really appreciate it when people on a doctor's staff treat you well- it seems to be rare these days!

EXCELLENT! from the moment I walked in the door I knew he was the guy. I could immediately tell by the ladies in the waiting area talking about him, saying he was cute and sexy, I thought they were exxagerating, but then I met him and spent an hour with me and they were right. He was smart, funny, bright, confident,and yes, cute. I made him blush one time, although I wont say here what I said. I also heard in the waiting area that he has the most endoscopy experience around and he is doing a new procedure that is only being done in Vegas, Florida, and Ohio that could shrink the pouch and stoma size and this could really help gastic bypass patients that want to lose more weight. best of all, it is a same day procedure with now scars!! they say that this is supper cutting edge stuff. I know I wont need it but I guess there are others that do need it. HE IS THE BEST!!!!

Was intimidated at first because he's kinda hot but once he sat down and talke to me for an hour at our first meeting I was taken in. He explained to me the pros and cons of the bypass and band. I heard people in the office that he has incredible experience in endoscopy that is why he can perform this brand new Stomaphyx procedure that only 8 surgeons in the country can do (and my surgeon is one of them!!) HES THE BEST,, if you are looking to get your pouc shrunk, call his office staff and ask to talk to him, he is soo personable (and HOT!!!) My friend now wants to come to all of my visits and oogles all over him. He is real nice and caring. I reccomend eveyrone to go to him (but then maybe he wont have enough time for me), Oh, Hes the type of Dr. that will make time for all his patients!

I thought Dr. Holover was on of the nicest phyisicians I have ever met. He sat down with me for a full hour (not one of his staff, but he himself) the first time I came to his office. He seemed so professional and confident. He made me feel quite relaxed. I have heard about this new procedure that he is doing for weight gain after bypass , stomaphyx. I dont kneed it bc I have been loosing well but I know alot of people who have gained weigt back and he is on of the only people doing this in the country and I heard the device is done endoscopically and I researched and found that Dr. Holover is one of the most experienced surgical endoscopists in the country and this is an endoscopic procedure and that is why the company is allowing him to be one of the few to do this. I HIGHLY RECCOMMEND HIM. HE'S EXCELLENT!

My first impression of Dr. Holover, seeing him through the reception window, was \"Hey he's kinda cute, hope that's my surgeon!\" And yes, it was him. My second impression is, wow he 's young! He is very down-to-earth, and answered every question I had. He showed me diagrams and models of the stomach/Lap Band and made sure to discuss the pros and cons of both procedures.rnHis office staff is friendly, and the office seems to run very smoothly. They have a definite system here, which I like. rnYes there is aftercare for the rest of your life. They require their patients to see them frequently, at first and then less frequently as time goes on. They also have a support group for pre and post op patients.rnDr. Holover explained all the risks associated with the surgery, even the ones that rarely ever happen. Some of the risks, like blood clots are risks with surgery in general.rnI couldn't really say what I liked least about him. I liked him completely.

Of course when I was waiting to meet with Dr. Spencer Holover, I was more than nervous. When called into his office for my consultation...all of my nervousness disappeared!! He was soo kind, caring, compassionate and patient. He explained everything to me, from A-Z! I loved that he spoke so educated and knowledgable. He made me feel so at ease. Before going to my consult with him, this was more of a \"maybe\" procedure. But, after meeting with him, speaking with him and asking as many questions as I needed to ask...My mind was made up that this is what I AM going to do..Gastric Bypass.rnrnDr. Holover also performed my Endoscopy at Mercy Medical. He was so kind and helped me to relax from the second I saw his face!!rnrnIf I had to rate him from 1-10, he would definitely deserve a 10.rnrnThe best part of finding a surgeon like rnDr. Spencer Holover is that he is surgically competent as well as having amazing bedside manner!!rnrnI would recommend him to anyone!!

I had met with several surgeons before choosing Dr. Holover. He has such a great personality and was so informative. He told me of all the risks of surgery as well as all the rewards I could look forward to. One of the main reasons that I picked him was because of his office and all of the staff. Everyone was so nice and willing to help. They handle many patients so don't let yourself get caught in the craziness! Another reason was the fact that he likes you to meet with a nutritionist and psychologist both before and after surgery. It comforted me to know that they would help me to eat right and keep my mind on the important things. Dr. Holover has a great bedside manner as well as complete surgical competence. When he was unable to check on me the same day of surgery he sent another surgeon in the practice to see me and made sure to see me the next day. rnI feel completely satisfied with my choice!
