I met with Dr. Rorhscheib on August 29, 2002.
I really thought he was very personable and
very professional. He did my surgery on Friday,
December 6, 2003 at Carle Hospital in Urbana,
IL. His surgical competence, and bedside
manner were excellent. Rita, Terri and Colby
his office staff are excellent and work very
hard to help you be successful with your
wls.
If I was to go throught the surgery again,
Dr. Rohrscheib and his staff would be my
first choice.

I scheduled my consultation with Dr. Rohrscheib for December 6, 2002. My first visit was fairly lengthly because Dr. Rohrscheib spent a lot of time explaining the surgery. I went in to his office hoping to have this done by laporoscopy only to find out I am not a candidate for that due to previous abdominal surgery. He is starting to do gastric bypass by laporoscopy and did his first one last week but I understand that it turned out to be an open. The Dr explained all the complications seriously but did not scare me. Overall, I had a good impression of him when I left the office and felt confident that he would be a good choice for me.

My firt impression was of a very thorough, knowledgeable, surgeon with a genuine interest in helping people of size. My impression has not changed. Dr. R. explains
the surgery, aftercare, risks very thoroughly
He provides written information that follows
what he is telling you.
A good way to review once you leave his office. He took his time explaining and answering questions, never made me feel rushed. Dr. R has performed many surgeries and I my opinion is very qualified. as well as his office staff. In my opinion surgica competence is most important. His waiting room was full so there was a bit of a wait to see him. This was just the initial consult. I cannot comment about the surgery and follow up care at this time.

Dr. Rhorschieb, at John Warner Hospital in Clinton Illinois was wonderful. Even though I had done alot of reseach, he confirmed what I knew, and added additionl information that I didn't. For my husband who didn't really now that much about the surgery, really felt informed. Dr. Rhoschieb's staff has been wonderful so far. Very helpful everytime I have called.

My first impression of the doctor was very positive. He was very informative and answered all of my questions without rushing me. He seemed genuinely interested with me as an individual and wanted me to make an informed decission.
Nursing and office staff were also great. They sent in the insurance request right away and helped me get scheduled at the first opening.

Dr Rohrscheib was great, he was able to answer all my questions without hesitation, and with honesty, and gave me all the info on what to expect during and after my surgery....his office staff was just as great....helping me with getting with the insurance company...and getting my approval the first go around!!

my first impression was that he was very knowlege about the surgery, confident in his work and diagnosis as a surgeon but no bedside manner. The office staff were very nice even though my medical papers were lost twice I called every week to check and they called me to let me know I was approved and set a date. please keep up with any medical documents you my need and check often to make sure things are progressing on schedule. Both bedside manner and comptence is important to me. Overall I would rate him a 6.

My first impression of Dr. Roshreib is that he was very knowledgeable of the surgery and explained the details of the surgery to me very throughougly. I was in the room discussing the surgery with him for nearly an hour. This was nice because I had driven over an hour and a half to get there in the middle of a storm. He answered every question that I had straight and to the point. I can not even begin to tell about the office staff. If I had to use one word to describe them, I would say Dedicated. RIta deserves more thanks than I can even begin to offer. Since I have never had a major surgery before, to me whats more important is surgical competance and Dr. R showed he was very competant.

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

Dr. R. is very kind and understanding and was very informative - his staff is as well. They made me feel very comfortable and at ease. His aftercare program is very structured, but he leaves it in your hands. I've only had one problem (muscle pull) and he was attentive and very informational. If I had to do it again, I would not hesitate and would definately go to him again - and I'm one to HATE Doctors!
