Sheila Partridge Bariatric Surgeon M.D.
Dr. Partridge was probably the first surgeon I ever met that actually made me feel comfortable right from the start. She exlained what will be happening before surgery and what she expected from me as far as getting ready for surgery. rn The office staff is very attentive, on your consultation visit you meet almost everyone. From the beginning of the process you feel you are making the right choice. rn Dr. Partridge is very dedicated to her patients needs, I had to have a second surgery two days after my initial surgery, Dr. Partridge expained everything that was going on and what they needed to do. rn Aftercare is stressed right from the start without the programs there's no point in having surgery. Newton Wellesley has three meeting a month for pre and post surgery patients. If you have a problem at any time you can call and expect in a very short time to get a call from either an office staff person or the surgeon.rn The risks are brought up in the class that all bariatric patients must attend before their consultation visit. rnI think Surgical Competence is better than bedside manner, but when the doctors have both it a plus for their patients.rn I can't think of any negatives about the staff at Newton Wellesley, however if you are getting ready for surgery avoid parties especialy in the winter months. A virus that you don't know about can cause some unbelievable complicationsrnrnrnrnrnrnrnrnrnrnrnrnrnrnrnrnrnrn
Dr. Patridge seemed straight-forward and direct. I would have liked for her to schedule me immediately but upon further thought I think it is good that she is requiring me to change some habits to show I am able to commit to long-term changes. I thought the entire staff was great - helpful, friendly and kind.
I liked Dr. Partridge immediately. I feel very safe in her hands and trust her completely. The office staff treat you like you are the only patient they have. Everyone I met, from the surgeon, nurse, dietician and psychiatric nurse seemed to be one the same page. They worked well together and it showed. Dr. Partridge went into detail about risks and answered my three pages of questions thoroughly and honestly. I highly rate her and feel I have the best of both worlds - surgical competence and great bedside manner.
I am 4 days post-op and just wanted to say that my doctor did an amazing job! She was there twice a day to check on me, and clearly was interested in my well-being. She gave me the "straight story" about the emotional part of the surgery and encouraged me not to deny it. I would recommend Dr. Sheila Partridge and the members of her practice at Newton-Wellesley Hospital ANYDAY!
Dr. Partridge may come across as aloof, but be assured she is a very caring doctor. The first time I met her, I was nervous and I know that clouded my judgement. That being said, I prefer female doctors because I believe in the natural female intuition.
The office staff is incredible. And Sue Thayer, Dr. Thayer's wife, is the driving spirit behind the entire practice. There are no leasts with Dr. Partridge. Once that trust develops between patient and doctor, it is irrevocable.
Right off the bat, a new patient should realize that Dr. Partridge is going to be brutally honest. She will not rush you into surgery -- quite the ocntrary. Be prepared that it may take 6 - 12 months after your initial visit before you make it to the table. Don't be discouraged, there's a reason for it.
Aftercare is very important with this surgery. I have been guilty of not following up with support groups and I do not recommend that others follow in my foot steps. They have a great support program and there's always someone available to talk to.
The risks of surgery are addressed not only by the doctor but by the psychologist and nutritionist. If you are seeking bariatric surgery, know up front that it is not the "easy way out." It takes a lot of hard work, adjustment and, believe it or not, your family will need time to adjust as well.
Overall, I rate Dr. Partridge up there with many of the greats: Christian Barnaard, Michael DeBakey, et al. She loves her work. You see it in everything she does when she is on duty.
I think bedside manner and surgical competence work hand in hand. I am a person who was deathly afraid of going under the knife. Dr. Partridge and her staff made it a pleasant experience and with that being said I HIGHLY recommend her.
The office and staff was great, and stilll are great! i couldnt aske for a better place.
They are always looking after the number one which is their patient.
The only thing I didnt enjoy was having to go back in for dialations, and when I knew something was wrong Dr. Partridge was on vacation so I had to see somone else, which made me nervous.
