He was to the point, he didnt sugarcoat anything. It's just a tool..I remember saying that to myself several times as I left seminar. He seems incredibly busy, you don't see him much. I'm not sure I like that, but I understand that he is always in surgery. But I do feel confident that if I really wanted to see him, I could. I have faith in the Physicians Assistant and nurses that I do see at my appointments.rnI feel surgical competence was most important to me. Bedside manner is nice, but knowing he is known as one of the best makes me feel more comfortable, than if he had awesome bedside manner.I am very happy I chose him as my surgeon.

EDIT: 5+ years out and still am glad I chose him and the U OF M. Zero issues for me so far. I am blessed

I had a great first impression of Sayeed.. he really stresses how surgery is just a tool, I totaly agree with him.. having seen others go through surgery and falling back into their bad habbits...rnI ended up only dealing with certain people from his staff upon request.. Bridgette, and Danielle... it seems they took my questions serious and called me back when needed. rnDr. Ikramuddin is a funny man, you just need to open up to him.. He makes me feel that I did the right thing, and I have no worries for the future.. stressing it's a tool, and I need to make it work...I did request to see only him or Bridgette with my appointments due to past bad staff experiences...rnHe is really here to help, and not make weight loss miracles.. that is up to us... rnHe is a very busy man, but be patient as I was and all will be great!rnMy surgery was 2 weeks ago, when I went back for my post-op, he was very informational, I had broght my friend instead of my husband, and Dr. Ikramuddin was also very nice to her.rnSurgery was fine, I did lap band so it was a pretty short operation. I did request to leave the same day and he spoke to my husband and said \"do you really think she's ok, if not she should stay.\" He really does care. He came in and discharged me and looked me over.rnI belive in him, and have nothing bad to say!rnThanks Dr. Ikramuddin!rnMisty... Glencoe MN

Dr Ikramuddin is a very busy man. With that being said, I still felt like he was caring and compassionate and willing to answer questions. He is a no nonse type of guy. I was told I would never see him but I spoke with him before surgery and the next day he came to see me. rnrnHIs office staff is friendly and unjudgemental, his Nurse Practitioner is a little abrupt.rnrnAfter surgery rather than coming to see my parents he called them on the cell phone to let them know it all went well. I thought that was a little impersonal but I guess that is a sign of the times.rnrnI wish the U of MN had a more comprehensive after care plan and support groups. I understand they are working on it though.rnrnOverall I am happy with my experience so far.

When Dr. Ikramuddin walked into the exammining room he smiled and said to me, \"So, what do you think about all of this?\" His confidence and warm smile made me comfortable right away. He answered all of the questions that I had, and thanked me for asking them when our conversation was over. He encouraged me to ask questions at any time if I had them. \"Your life is in my hands\", he said, \"so you can ask me anything!\" He made a great first impression on me! I won't see him again until right before my surgery, but I am hoping that my impression won't change.rnrnThe staff in the office is awesome! They are all so pleasant and very reassuring. They are professional and seem concerned with making patients comfortable and at ease. The only thing that I don't like about Dr. Ikramuudin so far is that he is only in this particular office once per month. I imagine that this means that it is more likely that a nurse will be doing the fills. I am hoping that it does not indicate less accessability to him. Future patients should know that he is a very busy man. I realized that during our consultation, but the time he spent with me did not seem rushed at all. During my consultation he emphasized how importatnt aftercare is to the sucess of the lap-band. I don't know how structured the aftercare is, but Dr. Ikramuudin was insistant on how necessary it is in order for the band to be successful. He was very open about the risks involved with the surgery, but seemed very confident in his abilitites as a surgeon. Before the consultation was over, he looked me in the eye and said, \"You are an excellent candidate for the lap-band. I think you will do very well.\" In my opinion, Dr. Ikramuddin has excellent surgical competence. I draw this conclusion based on rhe number of surgeries that he has done and the number of trials that he has been involved in. Based on all that I have experienced during the initial consult date, I would rate Dr. Ikramuddin as a 10.

I have only met him once so far. His office is very busy and I always have a long wait when I go in. He was very friendly when we did speak. I will update more as time goes on.

So far I feel very safe and confident with my surgeon. As time went by I felt as though his staff remembered me personally each time I checked in with questions and reports of my presurgical progress. Dr. Ikramudin and his staff are wonderful. Some of the staff are all past Bariatric Surgery patients. All surgery risks were covered and I was given many opportunities to ask questions, \"There are NO dumb questions\". His bedside manner was that of a concerned surgeon.. If he couldn't be there his collegues were there daily. They gave me plenty of time to ask questions and voice my concerns.rnAfter care is stressed and the appointment times I had ran pretty much on time. I would have to say his surgical competence is overall his strongsuit. Working in this field doesn't afford him the time to get too overly chatty.rn I feel as though I was his prime concern at all times.rnI am going to see him on my 3 month post op appt. I haven't been able to schedual times that coincided with his schedual. This will be the first time I have seen him since I left the hospital. I am excited to be able to thank him in person:)

I thought he seemed very nice and open to listening to what my thoughts, questions and worries were. Very willing to answer any and every question I had. Only concern is that he works out of Abbott only one day per month - so I think the process may take a bit longer than other providers. However I was able to see he partner for a pre-op appointment.rnHis staff at Abbott Northwestern Hospital is the BEST! I couldn't be happier with where I am.rnThere was only a 2 day liquid diet pre-op, but a full month liquid diet post-op! Very structured aftercare program - you need to follow up in the clinic quite often. But it doesn't seem like overkill to me either.rnI honestly don't recall going over the risks of surgery in too much detail - but that was my choice since I've been looking at this surgery for over 3 years. I did ask him what his Lap to Open rate was (as this is a major concern of mine) and he told many how many Lap to Opens he had this last year. He also told me why each one converted into an open procedure.rnSo far I would have to rate Dr. Ikramuddin very high - but my surgery is coming up and I'll know more then!

I love Dr Ikramuddin, he has moved though and is now out of reach for me in Minneapolis. I am still near Pittsburgh where he did my surgery.. rnHe did a very good job on my surgery. I had no complications post-op. He thought he may have to open me up but he started out laporascopically and was able to cut through my adhesions and do the surgery lap. I am so glad he didn't just say he was doing open RNY and not try to do lap. I had many surgeries before my RNY and I have tons of scar tissue from abdominal surgeries. I would recommend Dr Ikramuddin to anyone asking about him. He knew I was a high risk patient due to heart and liver problems and previous abdominal surgeries but he took the chance on me and I am so glad. He gave me my life back. He was in with Dr Philip Schauer at the time and I thought Dr Schauer would do my surgery so I was a little disheartened when I found out but now I am glad. Even though they have both moved on from Pennsylvania if you have the opportunity to have them do your surgery take advantage of what they have to offer.
