Rosemarie Jones is very warm hearted and kind. She always gives me the time to answer any questions I have. Also I do not have to wait long when I call in. I was really pleased with the surgical incision. They have pretty routine orders in the hospital so there is no wait when you need something. She and the Bariatric Center address all the risks. Also the day of surgery they go over them again. I would highly recommend Dr. Jones.
I'm an RN in surgical ICU for 12 years. I've worked with hundreds of surgeons. Dr. Jones impressed me when her answers were completely open and honest. There was no walking around the issue, she spoke her mind. She would make a lousy politician! Her reputation is excellent. I felt like she really believed in what she does and even though she may be a little bored with it (she said she could do the procedure blindfolded), I'm glad to have her on my side.
I've had minimal contact with the office staff so far. I know that my paperwork was submitted quickly and my surgery scheduled within a week of their sending it. So far, I'm pleased. The surgeons office works closely with the hospital's bariatric program. Even though the hospital is small, I have confidence in the 'team' since they do at least 10 cases a day. I trust that everyone there is going to know what they are doing--I'm looking forward to being just another routine patient!
As of today, 8-31-01, I have not met with the Dr. I go for my first visit 9-5-01. I have copies of any medical record I could think of that would help me with my insurance. I even had to get hateful with a pediatric Dr. to get my records out of storage so that I could have record of my weight when I was in my early teens. Wish me luck!!!!
I met with Dr. Rosemarie Jones. Very nice and strtaight forward. She said the WLS is a tool to be used and can work if used correctly. she has performed many surgeries. She, also, let all of us know that we will have plenty of main meds in the hospital. We will have our own button to push when we need more pain meds. Her office staff seem very informative and helpful.

As of today, I do not feel that her office has helped me any. In my personal opinion, they have never contacted me to let me know anything and when I have called the ins lady, it took her a few days to get back to me. she was to send me out some info on 10-29-01 and I have still not received it.
My first impression was not well! They tell us to be early and she is late. Second, she had one of her assistants get us started and also let us know she might be one talking with us after the consultation. OK! Dr. Jones comes in and after a few minutes says in her conversastion she doesn't do the Lasar rny surgery! Great! This is what my interest was in. Anyway, she does explain the reasons why. She also explained that with her small hands the cut will only be 3"! She seems to be very interested in performing the surgery and she is very, very busy!!! Never heard any complaints about her performance. I wished I could of got to talk w/her on a one to one, but that didn't happen. But I am still going thru with the surgery and I feel she would be the best Dr. for the surgery!!!! I will update as time goes on.OK! I AM APPROVED AND WILL HAVE MY SURGERY! BUT THE FUNNY THING IS I HAVE ONLY SEEN MY DR AT THE CONSULTATION, AND I HAVE NEVER TALKED TO HER YET! I DON'T KNOW IF THIS IS A GOOD THING, BUT I HAVE REASEARCHED THIS SO WELL THAT I REALLY DONT NEED TO SEE HER, JUST DO IT TO ME!!LOL TODAY OCT 17,2001 I HAVE MADE THE LAST TRIP FOR A NUTRITION CLASS YESTERDAY AND STILL NEVER SEEN OR TALKED TO MY SURGEON SO IF YOU REALLY WANT TO TALK TO HER, YOU NEED TO MAKE ARRANGEMENTS AT TEH FIRST CONSULTATION!! MY SURGERY IN READY FOR NOV 8, 2001 @ 1:30 pm OK NOTHING ABOUT THE PAPERWORK RAN SMOOTHLY SO BEWARE IT HAPPENS! ALL MY PAPERWORK IS READY AND ALL TEST ARE IN, SO NOW I JUST WAIT TILL MY DAY! I STILL HAVE ONLY MET MY DR AT THE FIRST CONSULTATION, SO MY FIRST MEET WILL BE AT SURGERY! WHAT A WONDERFUL TIME TO MEET! I WILL BE NICE SINCE HER LIFE IS IN MY HANDS! LOL JANIE WHICH IS DR JONES SECRETARY IS THE ONE TO HAVE DO YOUR PAPERWORK! SHE PUSHED MINE THRU AND I WANTED THE SURGERY END OF OCT BUT GOT IT THE FIRST OF NOV! NOT BAD AT ALL!!! SHE IS SO NICE! SHE LETS YOU KNOW IF YOU DO A LITTLE WORK WHICH DID END UP TO BE ALOT, SHE CAN GET YOUR PAPERWORK MOVING FASTER! AND I DID. DONT GET DISCOURAGE!
10/4/01 - I have now been back to Dr. Jones's office for 2 post-op visits. The first time I met with Dr. Jones herself and the second time I saw Cami, her Nurser Practitioner. They are both great ladies! Dr. Jones is wonderful and I have to say that I am still amazed at how small my incision scar is! It is barely 3 inches long. I am hopeful that with time, the pink will lighten in color (they tell me it will). Her office staff have been very nice and whenever I have had a problem or needed assistance, the staff and Karen, Dr. Jones's Nurse, have been very helpful and attentive! Dr. Jones and her office staff get a huge "2 THUMPS UP!"
Although I have only met with Dr. Jones one time, I felt right at ease with her. She is very knowledeable and does not try to overwhelm you with her "smartness." She seems very down to earth and you can tell that she genuinely cares about her patients and their well-being. Dr. Jones' office staff have been very courteous and helpful and very willing to help. The staff at St. Vincent's Bariatric Center have been wonderful and extremely helpful and supportive.
I will update as time goes by.
I went to initial meeting on sept 13th but I had failed to get written referral from my family physician, so I had to rescedule for oct 11. On 11-16-00 I got my psycologial profile supporting beriatric surgery.....just waiting on the insurance company to approve me.
My first impression was very positive. I had my mother who was very sceptical go with me and most of her fears where dispelled at the first meeting also.
Now we play the waiting game.
08-28-01 Well, after almost of year of trying to get approval from anthem - I changed insurance companies. I changed to United Healthcare and I was approved almost immediately. On August 6th the caseworker from United healthcare offer to fax Dr Jones office the letter of approval. August 28th I finally have a surgery date of Oct 8!!!
I am so looking forward to this. It brings new hope.
Sept. 6 I go in for the first of pre-op testing. Sept 25 I will go down to indy for the pre-op dietary class. Yeah. My kids are so excited for me.
Dr. Jones was very informative at our first
meeting. I had some questions later and she
spent considerable time on the telephone with
me until I had all the answers to my questions.
She seems like a very compasionate doctor.
Everyone I have talked with has nothing but
good words to say about her.
I found the office staff very nice and easy
to deal with.
August 31, 2001 update:
Dr. Jones is very interest and concerned with her patients.
She doesn't rush you in and out, she is there for as
long as you need to talk with her. She encourages you when
you are down and rejoices with you when you're celebrating
a nice loss. You can't go wrong with her on your side.
Every Doctor should be like Dr. Jones.
Anything bad to say about Dr. Jones? Yes, it's
too bad she can't be cloned into 3-4 just like her so more of you
could get her for your doctor.
