I first met Dr. Blackstone at the wls seminar I attended and thought she was very articulate and extremely knowledgable. I have not changed my opinion. rnrnHer office staff are very friendly and knowledgable. rnrnDr. Blackstone has a very busy practice to be prepared to have to do a little waiting for appointments. For me, this time just gave me the time I needed to research and prepare. rnrnShe has a very comprehensive aftercare program that addresses your nutritional, physical, and emotional needs very thoroughly. There are classes you attend both before and after surgery, optional support groups, and access to your nutritionist and physical therapist. rnrnShe was very straight forward about all the risks involved with surgery both in person and in writing. rnrnI love Dr. Blackstone. She is an excellent surgeon who cares about her patients. My surgery went very well and I am very happy with it. I am very satisfied with Dr. Blackstone and her office and I would highly recommend her.
Great on first impression, then other then surgery never saw her again. rnShe has very capable staff on all levels.rnMy impression changed due to never seeing her again till surgery and never after that.rnI liked her fine for the interaction I had.rnHer program is very good and very comprehensive.rnShe is not a hand holder. Staff does all followup.rnThere is structured before and aftercare.rnAll risks were answered in before seminars.rnon scaleof 1-10 I would rate her as a 9rnI say all in all since I can not compare her to others, that all aspects of service and care wher very goodrnHospital situation was not as good. I found the enviroment in the hospital as not very conducive to being even the least comfortable or pleasent. I was very glad to leave, the nurses when I saw them were pleasent the room was horrid.
This is my personal experience with Dr. Blackstone's office. I've researched available physicians throughout Arizona. Dr. Blackstone comes so highly recommended - from my neighbor, an RN working at Scottsdale Healthcare-Shea to a co-worker who got banded last year (she looks great by the way!) I attended the seminar, received insurance approval (on the first try!) and submitted my completed packet after 2 months of work compiling all the info. The office calls to inform me they won't take me as a patient because I had a previous surgery NOTE: this was done in 1987 - 20 years ago! No explanation, no recourse to ask for an exception, nothing. Only reason given is Dr. B. is \"too busy to take on any cases that may require any extra procedure\". Needless to say I'm disappointed to be shot down without any options to reassess my case. Evidently Dr. B has gotten too busy to care about people; they’ve done a great PR job but now only seem to care about the money.
My first impression of Dr Blackstone was that she was very genuine and really wants to help her patients. My impression only became stronger. The office staff were friendly and helpful. I liked that she was confident and knowlegable. You should know that Dr Blackstone is worth driving over two hours to be part of her proven protocols and methods. She stongly enphasizes aftercare. Her aftercare program as well as her pre-op program is very strict and thourough. She took her time to seriously review the risks of surgery. I would rate Her a 100 out of 10 she is GREAT! Both surgical competence and bedside manner are important to me and she had both.
Dr Blackstone and her staff have been amazing thus far. I really have no complaints. I was a bit upset when I found out I wasn't meeting her until my pre-op appt but it was worth the wait. I think her work speaks for it self. She was confident in my pre-op appt but not overly so and answered all my questions. Her staff has also been very helpful. They were always on top of my emails and were very patient with me. Overall I think her aftercare program is great and well emphasized. SBC is where I was suppose to get my surgery done. I am glad I waited. If your thinking about going with Dr B I would definitely give them two thumps up. But be prepared to wait as far as surgery date and pre and post op appts.
I am very excited about having Dr. Blackstone do my surgery. She seems extremely confident, knowledgeable and has tons of experience in this area. Aside from all of that, she is teaching others how to do it as well.rnrnThe program with her office seems very rigid, and that is how it should be. I really left my appointments feeling like I would be well taken care of. rnrnI am looking forward to continuing on my journey with the Scottsdale Bariatric Staff.
