I love Dr Blackstone she was great. I felt real comfortable right off the bat with her. She is real down to earth, she explains any questions you have. Dr. Blackstones staff is just as good and she is and very helpful. Scottsdale Healthcare Shea has a wonderful support group and they offer several options from exercise to support online and group sessions. As for rating Dr Blackstone I would give her a 10.
I really liked her, from the start to now.rnThe office staff has been okay. Her nurse Melissa is just great and that is who I deal with most. My surgery went great and the hospital staff were really great to me and my family. Dr. blackstone and her staff really emphasize the aftercare. They are veryrnstrustured with the aftercare. I would rate her a 9. surgical competence was great, bedside manner I really have not seen her since the surgery, but like I said Melissa her nurse has been great.
Dr. Blackstone was recommended to me by two other well respected Doctors in non-bariatric fields. Her skills as a surgeon are top notch. Although her pre-op program is very lacking in screening out people who may have eating disorders or other issues that surgery will not address. A word of advice to anyone considering surgery. They tell you \"diets don't work\". Surgery does not work if you have difficulty following a diet. Post-op is all about the diet. So save the 20 to 30 thousand dollars and get your head on right about diet and exercize. If you are absolutely convinced that the surgery route is the way you want to go then I feel that Dr. Blackstone would be your best choice. Please contact me if you like to learn more about my ordeal.

Dr. Blackstone was wonderful. I felt very at ease with her right away. The office is busy, as many office are. Sometimes calls were not returned. For the most part, it runs well.rnrnI had an overall very good experience with this. The surgery went well, and the care was excellent. All my questions and needs were addressed.rnrnThey are available to help.rnrnrn
Robin Blackstone - She is an all business type of surgeon. Very good at what she does but a little busy. I don't mind the business approach as long as I know I am in good hands; I felt confident of that.rnrnHer staff is organized but at times a bit abrupt. The practice was going through a number of changes at the time of my surgery. They were always professional though and I had little to do in terms of insurance. Everything was spelled out clearly and easily.rnrnThe aftercare program for the first 6 months is great. Everything is arranged and so all you have to do is show up. After that it is entirely the patients responsibility. While being your own advocate is important, I found myself slipping quickly and needed the staff. It would have been good for them to give me a \"kick\" from time to time. I haven't heard from them in years.rnrnOverall, I would recommend this group. I would suggest one be prepared for the work that it takes. This is a life-long decision that requires individual commitment. I put to much ownership in the staff and not enough in myself.rn
I had gastric bypass performed by Dr. Blackstone on 9/25/09. My wife also had the same surgery on the same day. I have several friends and relatives who have had this surgery with other doctors, and from what I have heard from them and my experience with Dr. Blackstone's office I feel that she and Scottsdale Bariatric offer the most superb service. She is not only an extremely skilled physician, but she has also created an organization which works like the proverbial well-oiled machine. Everyone associated with her practice has been amazing. Her follow-up is excellent and I am secure in the knowledge that everything she offers is designed to ensure my lasting success in my quest for better health. I thoroughly recommend her, her associate Dr. Sprunger, and her medical staff Melissa and Randy, in fact I can't recommend them highly enough. My wife is as enthusiastic as am I. At this point, just 4 months out, we have lost a complete person between us, and the weight continues to go down. We are taking full advantage of the support groups offered through Scottsdale Bariatric, which is one of thge areas sadly lacking at other practices, and we both feel that our continued long term success is dependent on continuing with long term support and follow-up. If you read this Dr. Blackstone & staff, please accept the biggest possbile Thank You from us both (you know who we are, your only same-day married couple!).
I have nothing but positive things to say about Dr. Blackstone. It took me almost a year into my process to finally meet her, but meeting her and seeing how much knowledge and experience she brings, made me feel more confident about the surgery. She's developed her style from experience and seeing what works. She's very nice to talk to, she even spoke to my Spanish speaking parents in Spanish.rnrnI am one month out and so far I have no had no problems. I barely felt any pain after surgery, a way better experience than I had imagined. The staff knows what they're doing and Dr. Blackstone provides a great after care program, to not only change you physically, but also mentally by educating each patient thoroughly.rnrnShe's a busy surgeon, but there's a reason for that. She's definitely one of the best.
I was impressed with the level of professionalism and knowledge of Dr. Blackstone when I attended the initial seminar detailing bariatric surgery. My impression has not changed at all and found Dr. Blackstone to be a very caring person. The office staff has been outstanding and has made my experience with the surgery less stressful. I have nothing but the most absolute respect for Dr. Blackstone, I feel she has given me a new lease on life. Dr. Blackstone has a very structured aftercare program and has helped me tremendously with the stresses that comes after surgery. Dr. Blackstone was very honest about the risks of surgery and answered all my questions during my pre-op visit with her. I would rate Dr. Blackstone a 10 on a scale of 1-10. Both Dr. Blackstone's surgical competence and bedside manner were both great. I would also like to say that Dr. Sprunger, Melissa and Randy were fantastic and all made a point of checking up on my during my hospital stay. I would highly recommend Dr. Blackstone to anyone considering bariatric surgery.
