HE IS VERY CARING AND CONCERNED THAT I UNDERSTOOD AND AM WILLING TO DO ALL THAT IS POSSIBLE FOR ME TO BE IN THE BEST POSSIBLE CONDITION BEFORE AND AFTER THE SURGERY. I AM SURE HE FEELS UNCOMFORTABLE TO BE THE NEW DOCTOR ON OUR BLOCK BUT HIS ASSOCIATION WITH DR. PROCTER IS ALL I NEEDED TO KNOW THAT I HAVE A TOP NOTCH SURGEON. WELL, I DID ASK HIM A FEW KEY QUESTIONS THAT I WOULD HAVE ASK ANYONE DOING SURGERY ON ME.
THE OFFICE STAFF ARE JUST THE BEST I HAVE DEALT WITH, I WAS UPSET TO START WITH BECAUSE I HAD ALREADY BEEN APPROVED BY BLUE CHOICE OPTION FOR MY SURGERY, BUT DR. PROCTER HAS RULES AND THEY ARE FOR MY HEALTH AND I RESPECT THAT. I HAD TO JUMP THROUGH HOOPS TO GET THE FINAL APPROVAL FROM WAYNE HULON, THE THERAPIST THAT HAS HELPED ME MORE IN THAT WEEKEND THEN ANYONE IN MY LIFE. YOU HAVE TO HAVE THE RIGHT MIND SET FOR THIS SURGERY TO BE THE RIGHT TOOL FOR YOUR WEIGHT LOSS, AND THE NEW PERSON YOU ARE ABOUT TO BECOME. I THINK I KNOW MORE ABOUT WHO I AM NOW AND THE PARTS THAT MAKE ME SPECIAL AND THE PART THAT HAS ALWAYS MADE ME FEEL UNWORTHY OF DOING AND BEING THE REAL PERSON INSIDE OF ME.
THIS IS A TOTAL WELLNESS APPROACH, I LOOKED AT THE GASTRIC BYPASS ALMOST A YEAR AGO AND PRECEEDED TO GATHER ALL THE INFORMATION I COULD. MY HUSBAND CHET IN THE MEANTIME CONTACTED A LOCAL SURGEON WHO GOT HIM IMMEDIATELY APPROVED FOR THE SURGERY, BUT THANK GOD OUR INSURANCE CO WAS ONLY WILLING TO PAY 70% TO THIS DOCTOR. HE IS AN EXCELLENT SURGEON BUT I AM CONVINCED THAT WITHOUT A FULL SUPPORT I WOULD NOT DO AS WELL AS I COULD. MY HUSBAND HAS BEEN A GOOD EXAMPLE OF THAT. HE HAD SURGERY 7/10/02 ANDF HAS LOST 80 POUNDS AND FOUR INSULIN SHOTS A DAY. THANKS TO THE GOOD NUTRITION COUNSELING FROM JOY HOUSE HE KNEW WHAT TO DO TO GET ALL HIS PROTEIN AND VITAMINS NECESSARY FOR GOOD HEALTH MAINTENANCE.
MY SURGERY IS TWO DAYS FROM NOW ON 9/12/02 AND I FEEL INFORMED AND HAVE THE UTMOST CONFIDENCE IN DR. PROCTER AND DR RICHARD. I KNOW THEY WILL BE THERE FOR ME IF I HAVE ANY PROBLEMS OR CONCERNS.

I first met Dan Proctor at a public information meeting about bariatric surgery. He was very informative and straight-forward about the risks/benefits of having gastric bypass surgery. His staff has been nothing short of wonderful to deal with. The best thing about Dr. Proctor is that he truly cares about each one of his patients. He gives hours of his time each month in support groups and meetings for his patients. There is a large emphasis on aftercare. He is very clear that his surgery is only a tool and the bulk of the work is up to the patient post-op. The monthly and weekly support groups are great - guest speakers and therapists are there with his staff members. I had three local MD's tell me not to use anyone but Dan Proctor. He has a great reputation both with his patients and the medical community.


**UPDATE** Surgery is scheduled 9/16 with Dr. Richard. A bit apprehensive as I know very little about Dr. Proctor's new partner. I meet with him 9/4 for pre-op. Will report back with more information.


**UPDATE** 9/4 I met with Dr. Richard and all fears are gone. He is a very compassionate and informative man. I left feeling totally at ease and excited about my new life 'on the other side'.

The first time I talk which the only time I talked to Dr. Richards I liked him and he is a very nice man. Very careing. I will see him again after the test are done to see if he will do the surgery and when. I hope ,I hope.The office staff were very nice to me.
Dr. Richards explained to me that people could die from this procedure,but he has never lost a patient .I will put my life in Gods hands and he will let me know if it is alright to have the surgery. I have talked to so many people in the support meeting and everyone said Dr. Richards is Great. Since I met Dr. Richards again and found out he will do my surgery I also think he is Great. He is very careful he was very concerned that I have a sleep study done and got my Cpap ,and got accustomed to wearing it. He won't take any chances that would put my life in danger. I feel very safe in Dr.Richards Care. I will have Laproscopy.It is nice to have a Doctor that always returns your phone calls. Thanks Dr. Richards

He was a great surgeon, understanding and offered lots of information about the surgery. He has always impressed me theu the pre-op and post-op phase. The staff in the surgery clinic are great. I like everything about him, especially when I called him in the middle of the night with a question. Other people should know he is great to his patients and only wants the best for them.

He's very kind, caring and understanding. I felt very relaxed and comfortable with him. I know he has alot more experience with theOpenRNY than Dr.Miller. Dr. Richard is a great doctor with lots of compassion and hes got a great personality. Hes always willing to listen and help you out. The secretary Gerry is great too. I am in very good hands and would recommend him to any1 here at ft. Campbell.
Dr. Richards surgical competence and bedside manners are both great. Hes the most caring dr and he'll call you back within a few hours or sooner. I rate him as very Wonderful. I'd recommend him anytime. Hes the best here at Ft.Campbell. I copuldn't ask for a better surgeon than Dr. Richard. Hes truly the best dr I've ever had and he truly listens to everything you have to say. You have any questions hes more than willing to answer them . Dr. Richard has a great aftercare program too . I couldn't be more blessed than I am with him as my dr here at Ft.Campbell,Ky.1-10 I givehim a 10 10x over. I just can't say enough bout Dr. Richard hes truly a GREAT person too.

DR RICHARD FROM BLANCHFIELD ARMY HOSPITAL IS MY SURGEON. FROM THE FIRST TIME I MET HIM I LIKED HIM. HE EXPLAINED EVERYTHING IN DETAIL NOT ONLY TO ME BUT ALSO MY HUSBAND-THE PRO'S AND THE CON'S. THE NURSES AT THE OFFICE ARE VERY NICE AND WELL INFORMED. I THINK DR RICHARD IS A GREAT DOCTOR AND I'VE ONLY HEARD GOOD THINGS ABOUT HIM.
I am almost 3 months post op. Dr Richard did very good work and I thank him for what he did for me. He is a very caring person who will go out of his way for you and your health problems!!!
