Richard Rubenstein Bariatric Surgeon M.D.,F.A.C.S.

Wonderful! Can't thank him enough for giving me back a life where once there was only an exsistance. His staff was also excellant, especially Dory Ferraro his assistant. She's terrific!! I've been at the Caremax center now for about 2 and a half years and they are just as good as they were when I went for my first visit. He's a very soft spoken, gentle man who cares very much for his patients and their care. There is an aftercare program. There are monthly support group meetings as well as weekly meetings on a more smaller group basis. They also have you come in monthly or bi-monthly to check on your progress and see how you're doing all around. They told you of the risks of surgery just as any surgeon would but didn't scare you into thinking because you're obese you may not make it. I think his surgical competence is excellent but so is his bedside manner. And I think bedside manner is soooo very important. I had a surgeon one time that had the personality of a cardboard box. I never went back to him after that surgery, nor would I ever recommend him and he was probably very competent surgically.

Caremax Surgical in Suffolk County, Long Island. It's a complete Weight Loss Center that offers counseling, exercise physiology, & nutrional guidance in addition to surgery - all in one place. We're fortunate to have such a complete practice with such a distinguished surgeon (Dr. Rubenstein has quite a resume - see www.caremax.org ) 50 miles east of Manhattan!
The staff has been great, the doctor is thorough but patient with questions and answers.
I feel like I'm in very good hands...
