The first time I met Dr. Boorse was very nice, he answered all my questions and explained the procedure to a "T". His office staff was very nice as well.

Dr. Boorse presented himself in a very professional manner. He explained the entire procedure to me. He thoroughly explained the risks of this type of surgery, and told me to think about it before scheduling the procedure.

Dr. Boorse is a very caring person. My impression over time has not changed of him. The office staff is genuine. The only problem was the office wait...sometimes hours. But he spent his time talking and taking care of me. I would highly recommend his expertise. I work in the same O.R. where my surgery was performed, and he has excellent O.R. skills and takes his time in his work. He is very compassionate for your feelings, and knows how hard you have worked to try to loose the weight without success. He wants to be there for you every step of the way. I had a complication post-op, but did not hesitate or blow me off when I needed to talk to him. His bedside manners are excellent. He spent time with me talking post-op, and telling me its the start of a brand new me--Happy Birthday to a new you.

My Surgeon, Richard C. Boorse, M.D. upon first impression was very informative about the procedure and sat my husband and I down and drew illustrations of exactly what procedure would take place during RNY. Dr. Boorse's personality is so warm and considerate and friendly and has remained the same since my first visit.
His office staff treated me like I was very special at the time of my first phone call to make the appointment thru every visit.
Dr. Boorse and staff acted in a very professional manner at all times and I found nothing negative with them.
Dr. Boorse will "lay the cards on the table" and then let you decide if it is right for you. He does not in any way try to talk you into this decision. He tells you everything from pros to cons about the surgery.
On a scale of 1-10 I would definitely give him a 10+. He has a genuine compassion for the obese patient and his bedside manner proves that.

I met Dr. Boorse for my consult on May 14, 2004. He explained things thoroughly and hand drew the RNY procedure. I actually thought the drawing was a more personal approach. I found him to have a pleasant personality and my mother and I had a chance to laugh with him. He reassured me that I was in good health for the surgery and he expects no problems. The office staff was a lot less personable. But overall, a good experience.

I had my initial consult with Dr Boorse and I have to say I love him. He immediately made me feel as ease. I trust felt that He was the one. This consultation was very different from the other one I had. This one was refreshing. He really didnt tell me anything I didnt know, which means I have done my research. His office staff were all friendly and efficient. Also a beautiful office. And being a lover of saltwater fish I loved the tank in his waiting room. He didnt pull any punches was very straight forward and to the point.

Dr. Boorse is a very nice man. He was very thurough when explaining the procedure and answering any questions that I had. He treated me with the upmost respect and so did his entire staff. He seems to really care about his patients. He made me feel confident in his abilities to do the surgery and eliminate the fears that I have. I definitely would recommend him to anyone.

Dr Boorse did a great job. I liked him day 1 although his office staff is somewhat edgy. They are very pleasant and helpful when you need them but they bicker in front of patients and amongst each other a lot (I am not the only one who has seen this either, I know other patients who complain on the same behavior). Dr Boorse was very confident on the day of surgery which made me more at ease. I only saw him once during my 7 day stay (I returned after a day and 1/2 at home for pneumonia and other problems) but his associates were very knowledgable as well. Not much in the way of aftercare but if you need anything you can always call. His nurse seems very knowledgable on the surgery and has answered any questions that I have had. I would recommend Dr Boorse to anyone considering this surgery...just be sure you have a support group for afterwards, to give you the extra support you need.

When I first made the phone call, it was a year ago actually to the date of my scheduled surgery. I was on a waiting list until they called in December and I had thought the list had gotten lost and that I'd have to call again. But, they called and I got an appointment for a consultation not even 2 weeks later. The office sent me a packet in the mail that included an office brochure with photos of the physicians included, so I knew what he'd look like, but photos only tell you so much.

As I sat first in the waiting room and them in the examination room, I was nervous. I kept thinking to myself, "okay, you can still change your mind, you can still just walk out". All that changed when Dr. Boorse entered the room and shook my hand. A wave of relief washed over me and calmed me and I knew I was going to be okay.

He went over the procedure with me, stating that he only does the Roux-en-Y and actually that was the one I wanted. He didn't tell me anything that I didn't already know due to my research and talking to others who had had surgery. He made me at ease stating that I'm the ideal candidate because I have to underlying health problems to worry about - we can nip them in the bud before they start. He explained everything in detail and drew pictures and answered all of my goofy questions that really had nothing to do with surgery but with my hair and face, because I'm so vain. HA!

His reply when I asked about any chance of acne since he'd be "messing around with my insides" was - you're worried about that? you're not even going to recognize yourself! His excitement about this was great.

I left his office with so much excitement in my voice and steps and overall being. I was uplifted. Now I knew why people had written about their surgeons so wonderfully on the message boards and called them saviors, etc. While I don't refer to him as my savior or anything of the sort (at least as of now), I do see him as being someone who helped me in my journey to my new life.

I hvae made a couple of calls to the office since my consultation and the office staff has all been great. Very polite. Very knowledgable. Never a sigh when answering the phone as if to say, "oh, amy's on the phone again!".

I am scheduled for surgery in 2 weeks and cannot wait. My excitement outshadows every sense of dread about major surgery and worrying about the possibility of side effects that may happen. I've waited too long for this to happen - I never thought I'd ever had the chance to be thinner and healthier again. Let someone else worry for me - I have too much to look forward to. It'll be long road with pain (of which I have no threshhold) and speedbumps, but I'm going to do it with a smile on my face and look forward to every day from now on of my new life!

I felt very assured after my initial consult with Dr. Boorse. He is a consummate professional. He thoroughly explained everything to my father and myself. He tolerated my dad's long windedness when he went off on a tangent about The South Beach Diet. That meant a lot to me.
