Raul Rosenthal Bariatric Surgeon M.D.
My first impression of Dr. Rosenthal was one that will be a lasting one. I walked in a few minutes late to the orientation session that he was hosting but he welcomed me into the room with open arms. As the time progressed during the orientation I realized how caring the doctor was and how I slowly felt I was making the right decision in chosing him as my savior. I was scheduled the same afternoon to see Dr. Rosenthal so I hung out around the hospital for a while. I was impressed at the total organization and professionalism of all the Cleveland Clinic staff. The Bariatric Center is completely staffed to perfection. I was amazed at the efficiency of all the ladies and gents that work there and how they all seem to want to bend over backwards to help you along the way. Dr. Rosenthal as well as his support staff such as the nutritionist and the psychologist all work together in such a way that all the information they give you is consistent. All of the phases of pre-op & post-op are fully explained in a way that its easy to understand and you just can't go wrong. Overall, my experience at Cleveland Clinic's Bariatric Department has been a very positive one.
Dr. Rosenthal seemed like a genuinely nice person, his assistant basicaly went over the different procedures with me and he can in as the tail mail, but he didn't rush me he answered all of my questions and to me that is priceless. I didn't see Dr. Rosenthal pre-operatively I saw the assistants and after the surgery I believe he stopped by twice, I have very little recolletion. The most important thing is I feel that I have gotten through the surgery with flying colors and I see the Doctor this Tuesday the 5th for my two week post op.rnI felt that the system they have at Cleveland Clinic, Weston, FL of which Dr. Rosenthal is a part is the best, the are puntual and caring and precise, if I had to do it again, heaven forbid, I would definately walk through the same doors.
Very professional and a great surgeon. Great staff. He was very quick but personable in our first and only meeting before the operation. Great emphasis on postop structure. Surgical competence is most important to me, and 2 years after the procedure I can tell you I have kept all my weight off. A total of 200lbs. I would recommend him in a heartbeat.
Dr. Rosenthal is a Bariatric surgeon in the Cleveland Clinic in Weston, Florida. I am 66 years old and live in S. Burlington, Vermont but I had to find a Center of Excellence for Medicare to pay. I then did a great amount of research and decided that Cleveland Clinic would be my best choice. We began in a large conference room where Dr. Rosenthal, a dietician and a few other surgeons spoke. Dr. Rosenthal explained the various procedures, risks and benefits from each. He then explained the lab tests and procedures we would need before surgery and the reasons for each. He was very thorough with a wonderful sense of humor and made me feel totally at ease and very happy with my choice. This was Jan. 2. I rushed to make all my appointments and had my Roux Y surgery on Feb. 1. My G.P. here will do all follow up exams, etc. but I need a support team here in Vermont. I found what I needed in Florida. I have lost about 50 lbs. depending on how I stand on the scale and I can walk the whole length and width of Costco without pain in my knees. I'm not hungry and I take my vitamins and supplements and protein drinks. I'm beginning to try different foods and I've already had one episode of throwing up. Unfortunately, it was in the car coming home from Florida. I need some support right here.rnAny answers would be [email protected]
7/15/2003 rnTODAY WAS MY FIRST CONSULT W/ DR GEISS. I FOUND HIM TO BE VERY CONFIDENT AND PREPARED. HE SHOWED ME A POWERPOINT PRESENTATION AND EXPLAINED TO ME ABOUT THE DANGERS OF BEING OVERWEIGHT & THE RISKS INVOLVED IN BOTH GASTRIC BY-PASS AND LAP BAND. ALTHOUGH I DID ALOT OF RESEARCH BEFORE FINDING HIM I WAS STILL IMPRESSED. I ALSO HAVE TO SAY THAT HIS STAFF IS GREAT VERY FRIENDLY MAKE YOU FEEL AS THOUGH YOU HAVE BEEN A PATIENT FOR YEARS. BEING THAT I WANTED TO GET MY JOURNEY STARTED AS QUOCKLY AS POSSIBLE I TOOK ADVANTAGE AND HAD MY T4 & TSH TESTING DONE TODAY. I ALSO MADE MY APPT. FOR MY GALLBLADDER ULTRASOUND AND UPPER GI SERIES FOR NEXT WEEK. BEING THAT I LIVE IN FLORIDA BUT AM HAVING SURGERY IN NY (SO THAT MY MOM CAN TAKE CARE OF ME POST-OP)THE DR'S WERE VERY ACCOMODATING AND EVEN MADE AN EXCEPTION TO HAVE MY TEST DONE ON A DAY THEY NORMALLY DON'T HAVE TESTS. SHOWED ME HOW MUCH THE STAFF OF THE HOSPITAL REALLY RESPECTED MY SURGEON.rnrnrnrnrnrnrnrnrnrnrnrnrnrnrnrnrn

I was referred to Dr. Rosenthal by my primary, Dr. Bricio in Aventura. He told me Dr. Rosenthal was the best and he wanted me to see him for a consultation. Since the first time I went to the Cleveland Clinic, I knew I did not want anyone else but Dr. Rosenthal to perform my surgery. His entire office staff are just great. The nutritionist, Emily Swartz, has been a great support full of knowledge and advice. Dr. Rosenthal and his Resident Doctors were just wonderful. Very professional and very caring. The experience at the Cleveland Clinic was great too. It is an excellent hospital. Dr. Rosenthal and staff have great support groups and encouraged me to participate. I appreciate the surgical competence but the bedside manner is very important as well. During my first session, they went through a movie explaining the surgery step by step. I had the LAP RNY on 3/22/06 and I am doing great!!! I have been blessed by the decision I made in having this surgery and I am glad Dr. Rosenthal and his excellent staff, were part of it! I am sure there are many good surgeons in the field, but I highly recommend Dr. Rosenthal and the Cleveland Clinic!
