My first impression of Dr. Dallal was that he was very focused, highly capable, intent on educating me, and learning about me. didn't feel like I connected with him as far as feeling totally comfortable with him. I have since grown to have tremendous respect for him; his caring and technical excellence.
All the staff in his practice are exceptional. They are personable, patient and effective. The show respect for the patients and for each other.
The hospital Dr. Dallla uses in Huntington Beach couldn't have done a better job of taking care of me. The nurses and staff there are eager to care for Dr. Dallal's patients. Dr. Dallal and Dr. Quebbeman have put tremendous time and efforts into making sure that the nursing staff at the hospital are the right people to care for their bariatric patients and that they are educated in the patients' proper care and education.
I had complications of hemoraging. This had nothing to do with Dr. Dallal's work. It was due to undiqgnosed mild Von Willdebrand's disease. I began showing the hemoraging just before midnight on the same day I had surgery. The nursing staff immediately gave me comfort and called Dr. Dallal. They constantly monitored me and passed information between me and Dr. Dallal. Dr. Dallal also spoke to me on the phone. He came into the hospital at 3AM to check me himself. He discussed what was happening, what he thought could be causing it and his game plan for taking care of it. He assured me he was there for me and he didn't leave the hospital until after he had taken me back into surgery and I was out of recovery. This was on his birthday! He subsequently had me see a noted hemotologist who discovered the problem. (This disease does not show up in common tests. It was hard to detect.) During this whole time I felt that I could relax and just conserve my strength. I felt that I was in the hands of highly capable people and that I didn't have to monitor what they were doing. (People who know me would be surprised since I would normally feel I had to be alert of potential mistakes made by others.)
Since my surgery I have had excellent care by Dr. Dallal and his staff. Before surgery I felt I was making the right choice in having the surgery and the surgeon and hospital I chose. Now I KNOW I was right.
I no longer have type @ diabetes, high blood pressure, severe sleep apnea, my asthma has significantly improved, I have tremendous energy, have no problems eating (finally), am now into regular sized clothes, hope to go off of high cholesterol medication soon and am tremendously enjoying life. Wow! It feels like a miracle!!!!

My first impression of Dr. Dallal actually started with the office staff. Everyone at The New Program is very professional and helpful. I spent 4 hours during my first consultation reviewing general information, meeting with the psychiatrist, the pre-op nurse, Dr. Dallal, the insurance coordinator, and finally with the hospital liaison. I came away with so much information and a comfort level that I would be well taken care of. Everyone took all the time I needed to answer my questions. I'm currently working through the insurance approval process (yuck!). They take preparedness very seriously and gave me a book to read, a list of support groups to attend, and have a network of support after the surgery. Dr. Dallal went over surgical risks again (I had pretty much read about all of them prior to the visit). I feel very comfortable with the surgeon and the office staff. I'm a little concerned about whether or not I'll receive insurance approval by my scheduled surgery date, but I just have to try to submit all the information I can.

I love Dr. Dallal...
I researched other programs and surgeons for a VERY long time, but nothing seemed as perfect as the N.E.W.
Program, in huntington and laguna beach.
I'm not someone to love the "doctor" and "hospital" thing... but I REALLY love the staff and everyone affiliated with them here...
I have a BMI of only 40/41, but this NEVER was a problem here with them. They also were kind and considerate and understood that me being younger, 18, is only MORe the reason I am a good candidate for this... eager, willing, and more years to enjoy the pay off of hard work.
I've really appreciated all their help!
Linette, a coordinator, also had the surgery.. and even helped with protein supplement suggestions!
Knowing she had been through it all, helped a lot to know... people in this program, even the staff, UNDERSTAND.
We shall see, but so far, i DEFINITELY recommend the N.E.W. Program if you are looking into bariatric surgery.
