When I first met Dr. Lalor he seemed quick and brusk.... Since he was seen me naked and has cut me open..... we have a much tighter bond now. Dr. Lalor is great! He visited me a couple times a day in the hospital. He told me I was a great patient and that the surgery went very well. He explained to me what he expected of me at the hospital each day, and what I should expect in return. He answered my families questions and didn't make them feel rushed on day of surgery.
This was a positive experience.

I am so glad I picked Dr. Lalor. He has a wonderful bedside manner and a way of instilling confidence in not only his ability, but also in yourself.
I have only wonderful things to say about him and his staff. He came in everday to check on me (sometimes twice) while I was in the hospital and I feel completly comfortable with him, and that is not easy for me.
There is not enough numbers to rate his bedside manner and competence..
Yes, He really is that good.
You will be in very good hands.
I <3 Dr. Lalor. He is a very honest man who thinks that obesity is a disease and that weight loss surgery is a tool and he is not a miracle worker. Which means you have to do a lot of work to get to where you want to be. That is exactly how he puts it to you. His office staff is very helpful and great. He explains everything to you in detail for before and after the surgery.
He's great. He was very friendly and informative. I felt like I knew all the good and the possible bad stuff going into this procedure. He made sure I undterstood what I needed to know to be sucessful longterm. He checked on me everyday while I was in the hospital and not just called but came in to see me face to face. Hardest part was waiting to drink water after surgery, 24 hours seemed like two weeks.
Great office staff and hospital staff. I felt like i was treated very well from everyone. Afterwards, I have always felt free to call anytime with questions for the nurse or nutrtionist.
I give him, his office, and Wood Co. hospital a 10!

I am a little over one year out. Dr. Lalor is an excellent surgeon and what makes him exceptional is his genuine concern for the patient and the integrity he exhibits every step of the way. His advice has been invaluable and he is very forthright and is willing to not perform the procedure if you are not prepared to embrace all of the lifestyle changes that have to occur. I guess the best way to sum this up is honesty. He has also performed surgery on my brother who has also enjoyed excellent results.
My advice? Go for it!
3/24/2010 - Congratulations on the Center of Excellence designation!

Dr. Lalor is by far the best surgeon I have met, and I am a nurse. Very kind, knowledgeable, and sincere in his words. No sugar coating, but not cocky either. Just confidence. I was terrified before surgery and he made me feel more comfortable. While in the hospital I had pain issues related to gas/drains/not sure and he didn't blow me off not once. He reassured me and performed tests he felt were necessary to make sure everything was perfect. I would recommend him to EVERYONE wanting WLS. And have considered him my new general surgeon as well. Both surgical competence and bedside manners get a 10 out of 10!

Dr. Peter Lalor is a very courteous physician. He was in my room 2 times a day every day following surgery. He was always trying to make sure I was comfortable. My 2 week visit is today later on so I will write more as I deal with him more. His office staff is awesome!!! Also a few weeks after surgery I was diagnoised with an Ulcer. Dr. Lalor was very aggresive in his treatment of it, and I pretty much have it under control. I love that he listened to my concerns and took them seriously, he didn't brush me off like so many Docotors tend to do. I would not hesitate to recommend Dr. Peter Lalor to any of my friends. Even though he is fairly new by bariatric surgery standards, he is fresh enough to not be cocky about his abilities. Some people prefer that quality, I prefer a doctor who treats you like you are part of his own family and you will ALWAYS get that treatment here. Wood County Hospital staff on the Bariatric floor are phenomenal as well. My nurse had even had surgery herself so she was sooo understanding! If you live in this part of Ohio or surrounding area, Dr. Lalor and his staff are more than worth checking out!!
****UPDATE*****
I am currently at 155lbs. and holding. I am amazed at my new life everyday. Dr. Lalor has been a vital part of my new world. I always got to see my doctor, and that is very rare in todays world. Usually following your surgery you follow up with P.A.s Dr. Lalor personally saw me for all my check ups and also, for any other issues I had. I never felt "passed around". Keep up the amazing job Doc!!!

I new I had the right doctor very nice. Stright and to the point on what he was going to do. It got better the more I got to know him. His staff was wonderful and I highly recommend them. I was very comfortable with him and felt I was in good hands. He will tell you how it is and direct to the point. Make sure you know what he does and the outcome of the surgery. He is very concerned that you follow his rules as to post op. If you do well he will be very happy with you. If you do something wrong he will let you know in a nice way. Yes very stuctured aftercare. Yes he told me the risks and I know what I am taking up, but life is a big risk also. He addessed them very well as to the risks. But I understood what was going to take place. I am strong and want to change my life so I am going to lay it out and put my doctor and god in charge. I would give him a 9 on a scale of 1-10 very pleased with his work. Both surgical competence and bedside manner are both great. I highly recommend him for anyone wanting his services.
I've liked Dr Lalor since the day I met him. He is easy to joke with and has a smile on his face most of the time. His office staff seems very friendly and were very willing to help me make it through the before surgery process. Dr Lalor thoroughly explained the risks of surgery and was more than willing to answer any questions that I had. He will tell you exactly how things are. If you are looking for someone that is going to tell you only what you want to hear, it's not him. While in the hospital, he was there to see me every morning. I would recommend Dr Lalor to anyone considering bariatric surgery.

My first impression of Dr. Lalor was that he seemed very knowledgeable about the various types of surgeries. He held an orientation where he went through all of the surgical options including statistics and possible complications and risks of surgery. He answered numerous questions and concerns of all who attended. rnrnMy impression changed for the better over the course of my journey. I witnessed firsthand the attention and care he gives his patients. He always takes his time to make sure you understand what is going on. He takes his time to make sure he is doing everything he can to help you.rn rnDr. Lalor's office staff is exceptional. The nurse, Deb is a sweetheart. She has a way of making you feel better just with a hello. She is always there for anything you need. The receptionist is excellent at what she does. Although I did not have much contact with the dietitian, she seemed like she knew what she was talking about. I think Dr. Lalor is very lucky with who he has on staff with him.rn rnThe thing I liked least about him is hard to say. My experiences have been good. He tends to run behind in his office visits, but I am not sure how much of a negative that is. I believe this happens because he takes his time with his patients and listens to them. I learned that he is particular in how he handles his care of a patient. By this I mean that he has a plan on how something needs to be done and at times he may not be, or seem flexible. rnrnThe Center for Weight Loss Surgery at the Wood County Hospital has a very structured program for aftercare. It is explained well and is easy to understand. Dr. Lalor supports this regimin and emphasizes it regularly in his visits with you.rnrnI think future patients would be wise to consider Dr. Lalor and his staff for their weight loss journey. I don't know of many other Dr.'s who take their time like he does with his patients.
