I saw Dr Rantis on 7/5/01. Was nice & confident. He made sure i knew the risks but also explained if i didnt do anything i was already a high risk. Was told i wuld get a surgical date the following week.Never happened.Went to the seminar at EGV on 7-14.Seemed everyone saw their surgeon after me but already had a surgical date....I spoke to both mary & Eileen...Finally today i get a call wth my surgical date of 8-28-01. Hooray!!!
Dr. Rantis has a very warm and caring attitude. He made me feel very relaxed and was very willing to spend time answering all of my questions and concerns. Recently I have met some other patients of Dr. Rantis at support group meetings (pre & post op) they all have experienced the same positive and professional attitude as myself. Dr Rantis is an associate of Dr. Kane and the Weight For Life Program. They have a very thorough pre op screening protocol and support group meetings bi monthly for pre & post op patients. Consultation with a dietician is also provided.
He is very nice, everything I heard about him is true. He's very down to Earth and happy to explain anything you would want to know. Very compassionate, I'm glad that he will be my surgeon. His office staff is just as nice, I couldn't ask to be treated better. He does emphasize aftercare and has a structured aftercare program. There is plenty of help available in many different areas. He also addressed the risks involved with the surgery and made sure I understood them all. I would rate Dr. Rantis overall as an excellent doctor.
Well I met Dr Rantis on 11/24/00 for an intital consultation. I thought he seemed very knowledgeable. I went to one of there seminars and it was very helpful also.I then proceeded to have Ginny file my insurance and they denied it. I then got a new job 1/2/01 so now I have new insurance but it won't be eligiable unitl May 1,2001. On May 8,2001 I received a called from my insurance company saying they approved the surgery. I then proceeded to call Ginny from WFL to tell her I got this call and she was on vacation and would be out of the office for a week. Ilene from WFL called me and told me all the pre-op testing I would have to do but couldn't give me a surgery date because she had to talk with her nurse to see if I needed to set up another consult with Dr. Rantis. Well I have been calling everyday and they say the nurse hasn't made a schedule up yet. Ginny finally called me when she got back from vacation and told me they are doing there very best and have a list of 20 people who are waiting for a surgery date in July, which she states I am one of them. May 28,2001 I have been called Ginny almost everyday because I would like to know why I have not received my surgery date yet. She states it's not her fault that Mary from the doctors office is suppose to put together a surgery schedule and she is waiting from them. I am getting a little mad now, I thought the insurance was the big "waiting game" but it only took my insurance 2 weeks for approval and it's taking me forever just to get a surgery date. Well it's been almost 4 weeks now and no one has called me, I am almost tempted to go elsewhere. I went to a support group meeting in my area and found out that the lady in my support group knows of two people who already have surgery dates in July for Dr. Rantis. Makes me think that they are putting me off, I don't know why, maybe because I have been bugging them almost everyday. Something isn't going right with this office. I will keep you undated when I FINALLY get a surgery date. Till then I still sit here and wait!! GRRRR!!!!
Attended the Weight For Life information seminar and felt instantly drawn to Dr. Kane and his staff. All were very personable
and knowledge. After reading the comments
here I flet pretty sure they were the Doctors for me and the seminar confirmed that feeling.
The entire staff was friendly and helpful.
The program seems very structured and they
seem to be concerned about you as a person
not just a procedure.
Once I got approved I was assigned to Dr. Rantis and was a little dismayed I didn't get Dr. Kane. When I had my pre-surgery consult my fears were gone, Dr. Rantis was extremelly nice, very supportive and patient. All the Doctors work together and three stopped by right before I went into surgery. After I was home I had a question and he called back not a nurse, very impressive.
Dr. Rantis and Dr. Kane assist each other with all Lap proceedures. I met with Dr Rantis for my consult. The staff was great. Ginny at Weight For Life is great, timely which I'm sure is hard to do considering how many calls I'm sure she gets. Dr. Rantis explained everything since I didn't ask many questions (this site gives all the answers) He was very honest in talking about complications I really appreciate that about him. I know this is major surgery and I'd be leary of any surgeon glossing it over. I'm totally comfortable Dr Kane. The testomonies on this site alone give me confidence in him.
