My first impress was good. He knows what he is doing and I felt very confident in his ability. My impression hasn't changed at all. I would trust him to do this procedure 100 times again. The office staff is wonderful. Very caring and informed. They handle the \"coddling\" of the patients. The only complaint I have is sometimes the office is running a couple of hours behind. But he's the best so I feel the time is well worth it. Future patients should know he is all business. He is nice, but like a lot of specialist, he leaves his bedside manner to his nurses. Which is fine with me. I would rather he concentrate on what he is doing on my inside rather than what he's like on the outside! The doctor and his staff are very strict with aftercare. That is what makes him successful and he knows that. He requires you see him and his nurses on a regular basis after surgery. The aftercare program is very structured so you feel accountable. He was very open about the risks of the surgery and answered any and all of my questions with 100% honesty. Didn't pull any punches which I appreciated. Overall he is an excellent surgeon, doctor and person. While bedside manner is wonderful, surgical competence is key in this field. Dr. Stanish's competence is second to none. But he genuinely cares about his patients and it shows when you wake up to his smiling face telling you everything went great!

rnMy first impression of Dr. Stanish was a very professional one, yet he was/is very easy to talk to. My impression of him has not changed. I LOVE HIS OFFICE STAFF!!! I can not think of one thing I don't like about him. All future patients should know he will do the right thing, no matter if you like it or not. Aftercare was mentioned during every visit. His aftercare program is outstanding!! I was made aware of all surgical risks. He didnt sugarcoat anything. I rate Dr. Stanish in the highest regard!

First Impression was very positive. Dr. Stanish was very professional and very easy to talk with. I had only one pre-op apt. with him and felt completely at ease. I am a RN so I am fairly familiar with this whole process. But I am also used to physicians-which can be positive and negative. rnThe staff at Dr. Stanish's office was great. His PA Holly, was very informative and very thorough. She assists Dr. Stanish during surgery also. I am not sure what her responsibilities are though.rnThere was nothing that I can say negatively about the office help, nurses or Dr. Stanish. I knew immediately that I would go through with my decision.rnDr. Stanish asked many questions, gave plenty of advise. He understands that every patient is an individual and treats them accordingly. rnHaving medical background, he didn't have to go to length in explaining many of the aspects of the program and the surgery. I was able to answer questions and give my input before he could ask. If I had questions, he was very interested in discussing them with me. He discusses family history a great deal which I believe gets lost during the consultation process in many Dr. offices. Pros and cons were discussed at lenth and we came to a decision that the Lapband was exactly what I needed as a tool to reach my goals.rnThe program at the Methodist Hospital is very thorough. It is up to par with any of the teaching hospitals such as University of Illinois in Chicago which I also checked out. I chose Methodist for its program and location to my home. But of course, my intuition and consults did the work and answered the questions that I needed. The program goes through a very detailed systme of checks and balances. Nutritional information given by Kathryn was excellent. General information presented by Karen was just as informative. There is much emphasis on information specific to whether this surgery is 'right' for you. The safety of the surgery and what to expect. They do not take any of this program lightly. So much attention before the surgery and what to expect after surgery is stressed. The aftercare program is life long with Dr. Stanish. This isn't a quick fix. This is something that will be a part of you forever-and they want the patient to be sure that this is the right decision before making any further plans.rnThere is risk to any surgery. All these details were presented in a very understandable manner. The risks associated with anesthesia and the surgery itself were explained by the surgeon and the staff.rnI would rate this whole process as excellent. I am still in the recovery stage but I have been delighted with every aspect of this program and my surgeon. I look forward to the future relationship with my surgeon and his staff.rnBetter, competence or bedside manner. I have had both, and one of the other. But competence is by far the most important factor in a doctor for me. It is great to have bedside manner that is condusive to my needs but I know if doctor knows what he is talking about-that is what I care about. Dr. Stanish has both. He is a great phyician and a great person, from what I have seen so far. Cannot get any better than that!!

My first impression of Dr. Stanish was that he is very sure of himself. I liked him in the hospital during my surgery stay and he proved to be a very caring person. He was concerned when I couldn't get the fluids down and wasn't in a hurry to get me out and home. rnHis office staff is wonderful. If you have any questions they are always there to answer them. His nurse Karen is wonderful and helpful and his assistant Holly is great. I love them all. rnDr. Stanish can be very arrogant but I think that he is good at what he does and he knows it. He told me that he is going to be the best doctor for me and he expects me to be the best patient for him and to follow what he says. I am and we seem to get along very well. rnHe is a big one on aftercare and expects nothing less from his patients. rnEvery time I saw him before surgery he would stress the risks of the surgery and I appreciated that. He would tell me the risks and then would talk to me about the ones that he thought would be more important to me. rnHe takes care of the person and and the patient and I like that. I am glad that I chose him as my surgeon and wouldn't want anyone else. I would reccomend him highly. His competence is beyond belief and his bedside manner isn't really bad. He isn't always the most friendly but you can always tell he is caring. To me the surgical comptence is the most important. I can always find a friend to hold my hand if I need too.

Dr Stanish was a bit stand-offish when I first met him. My impression has changed over time. He has a wonderful sense of humor once you get past the pompous exterior. rnrnDr Stanish is a wonderful surgeon. My surgery went well and I barely have any scars which amazed me. rnrnI would like to see improved care via the weight loss center for post-ops. The doctors office handles the medical side well but the additional aspects of the surgery were missing from the weight loss clinic. I felt abandoned after my surgery without classes or support. rnrnI would say Dr Stanish is better with surgical competence than bedside manner. rnrnNote: These are my personal opinions and experiences therefore no statements are made that should be used for any other purpose besides seeking other patients opinions regarding the surgeon.
