Dr. Enochs is the best surgeon and one of most compassionate people that I have ever met. He answered all of my questions and made me feel confident that I had reached the correct decision. He discussed the risks involved with this surgery or any other surgery on a MO patient. He has an excellent aftercare program. He has had turnover in his office staff.
My first impression was that Dr. Enoch was down to earth and easy to talk to, that impression has not changed. Future patients should know that both the office staff and Dr. Enoch are committed to the WLS process and are readily available from the first visit to post op. Dr. Enoch has structured aftercare, and stresses attendence in the monthly support group meetings. He addressed the risks of surgery during each pre-op visit. My surgery went smoothly with no complications, so I rate him as the best bariatric surgeon ever. I think that both his surgical competence and bedside manner are both exceptional. My only negative experience was related to the hospital--it would not have been my first choice as far as hospitals go.
The staff at Bariatric Specialists of NC are very respectful and understand the unique needs of bariatric patients. The nursing staff has always promptly returned my phone calls and getting an appointment has never been a problem. The other support staff was very knowledgeable and thoroughly reviewed the process and insurance coverage with me so there were no surprises. Dr. Moran performs all of his surgeries with his partner, Dr. Enochs, who is a terrific surgeon. I had one negative experience prior to surgery. I requested the placement of a vena cava filter prior to surgery to reduce the risk of a pulmonary embolism. Dr. Moran had a great deal of difficulty getting the filter in through my shoulder and had to go through my groin. The anesthesia was not nearly enough for the pain and I was way too aware of what was going on. I was particularly nervous when Dr. Moran used his cell phone during surgery to call his partner for advice. However, I have had several coworkers, friends, and a cousin who have had their surgeries here with no complaints.rnrnUPDATE: As of September 2006, Dr. Moran is no longer with Bariatric Specialists. I am now seeing Dr. Enochs for follow up care.rnrnUPDATE: In November 2006, I received a bill from a collection agency for $263. After investigating, it was discovered that this amount was for an initial consult I had in August 2005. I didn't have surgery at that time because Bariatric Specialists had stopped participating with my insurance (BCBS federal). Following my appointment, I met with a staff member to review payment options and was told that my file would be held open for a month while I made a decision. I wasn't charged for the appointment, nor was my insurance co. billed for it. I decided not to have the surgery. I never received a bill for this office visit. I called the office to find out what was going on with the account that was turned over to the collection agency and to explain that I was told there would be no charge for that appointment since they had stopped taking my insurance between the time I made the appointment and I saw Dr. Moran. The staff member told me that they had turned over their software to another company for billing, since it was in collection it had to stay there, and that the person checking me out that day should have had me pay for the visit. In other words, too damn bad, we made a mistake and you're going to pay for it. Needless to say, I'm disgusted that they're making me pay for their mistake and that it was sent to collection before I was even given the courtesy of being notified. Since it the date of service was over 18 months ago, now I can't even get the 20% that BCBS would have paid.
When I 1st met Dr. Enochs he was a very very nice and caring person. He is a doctor who have a wonderful bedside manner. His whole staff is great. I had a flat tire on my 1st doctor's visit, and I did not know how to change it. Molly, called her boyfriend to come and changed it for me. I am glad I picked Dr. Enochs to preformed my bypass. My bypass will be sometimes in May I pray because I have to do a six month diet before my insurance will cover the surg.
I met Dr. Enochs at a support group meeting. I was very surprised that he was there and interacting with the pre ops and post ops. He answered questions and took suggestions. My first appointment was Oct. 4 2006. The staff at Dr. Enoch's office were very helpful and answered all my questions. They did not make me feel bad for being overwieght. Dr. Enochs sat with me for about 10 minutes answering all of my personal questions about which surgery was right for me, and other things. I would recommend Dr. Enochs to other people considering this life changing event. I didn't expect the 1st appointment to be so long, though. It was all afternoon. Dr. Enochs has started a new policy that all pre ops attend at least one support group meeting. The meetings are a wonderful opportunity to meet people who have had the surgery and what they are going through. So far I have most of my appointments set up and it is only a couple of days after meeting with him. I am very excited to enter a new healthier lifestyle and am ready to make the necessary changes. I know it will be a long hard road, but in the end it will be well worth it.
May 2006 - Dr. Enochs was very informative during the initial consult and his process seems to go very smooth. His entire team has been fabulous so far and more than willing to answer any questions that I have had as well as move the process along as quickly as possible. So far so good!rnrnAugust 2006 - A little disappointed at how slow the process is going and how long it took for paperwork to be sent to insurance. More information can be found in my blog about details on this. Office support staff is spread too thin and, therefore, not able to provide enough time to the patients. Still completely confident in Dr. Enochs' skills before the surgery. Will update post-op.rnrnSeptember 2006 - Well I am post-op now and Dr. Enochs is truly the best surgeon in the world! I had zero pain within 24 hours of surgery. I was off IV and pain meds by that point and have not needed to take any at home. I'm very satisfied!
I know that this will sound fake because this is so positive, but this is the truth. Dr. Enochs and his entire staff are complete Godsends. They are by far the absolute BEST in the world! They helped me through the entire process from the first visit through my surgery with great care and compassion. I always recieved a call back with 2-24 hours on any and every question. After my inital consultation I was a little worried about having to track down my medical records from previous doctors on my own. Because this type of thing has always been handled by my doctor's offices, it was an entirely foreign and scary task to me, but it was not anywhere near as overwhelming as I thought it would be. In the end, it was such a small task to do and I have no complaints. I read that Dr. Enochs was the best in NC and chose to drive from Charlotte to Raleigh just for him and I can only say it was EXTREMELY worth it. He and the staff are AMAZING!!!!!!
I felt compelled to review Dr. Enochs. rnI was a little apprehensive about doing so prior to actually having my procedure completed. rnI am very happy with my surgery and for the most part everything went smoothly and uneventful.rnHowever, when you have this type of procedure, you want to be 100% comfortable at all times. rnI cannot honestly say that Dr. Enochs or his staff assist in this regard.rnQuite honestly, I found him and his staff to be quite arrogant.rnMy first impression was actually this way but I was so excited that I decided to proceed anyway.rnBut as time went on I was convinced that I had made the wrong choice but I had gone too far to turn around.rnHe only has one person in his office who handles scheduling and she is absolutely the rudest person.rnShe loves to tell you to call her back on Friday (the office is closed on Friday).rnI like the fact that they have a normal 60 day turn around time which kept me with them.rnBut their level of politelness or lack thereof, I must say was quite the turnoff.rnAdditionally, Dr. Enochs told me that he would come to see me around 11:00 on Saturday and sign the papers to release me.rnNot only did he not show at 11:00 am but he didn't show at all.rnHis partner came around 4:00 pm and seemed quite agitated that he had to visit with me. rnI wasn't released from the hospital until 5:30 pm.rnSurgical competence was stellar but if bedside manner is what you seek then this is not a one stop shop.rnrnThanks,rnTaMeka
