I went for my consult. My first impression of Dr.Mora was he is all bussiness. You can also tell that he is a very caring surgeon. Dr. Mora gives you plenty of time to ask questions but after he goes over everything there is not much left to be asked. Dr. Mora will make you understand that this is a very serious surgery that has very serious risk. His office staff is very pleasent. I believe Dr. Mora is a very competent surgeon that I am willing to have him be my surgeon. Dr.Mora holds support group meetings on a monthly basis. In my opionion surgical competence is more important than beside manners. I believe by having Dr. Mora as my surgeon I will be getting both.

My first impression of Dr. Mora was that he looked very young. I realized that he is a very quiet person, but has a funny side. He is mostly all business. I'll see how his personality changes as I get to know him better.
His staff seem very eager to help, and were never rude.
I asked him a specific question about the length of my surgery, when he made his rounds the next morning and he shrugged his shoulders as if he didn't know. I'm sure it is in my records, and he does so many procedures that he couldn't give me a definite answer. He did take the time to answer any concerns.
I have heard from several sources that he is highly recommended for most types of surgery. I feel blessed to have such a competent surgeon.
Dr. Mora stresses after care and has a monthly support group that he runs and a news letter.
He told me all the risk of the surgery and did not sugar coat them. I knew going in what might happen. Thank God that I haven't experienced anything yet.
I would say surgical comptetence far outweighs bedside manner, but it would be great to have both.

I have known and worked with Dr. Mora for several years. He is a caring compassionate man with a gift for surgery. I have seen him perform very complicated emergency surgery and the patients have achieved good results. My impression of him has done nothing more than grown. He and his staff are friendly, professional, and will work with you to help you achieve your goals. There is nothing that I don't like about him or the staff. One of the things was most impresed about was the pre-care and post op care. He requires a mental health exam, a visit to the support group, as well as the normal labs and test. Post op he requires attendance to support group meeting at least 6 times in the year which he leads. He is very involved with his patients not only surgically but emotionally and offers excerise advise as well. it is a very nice program.
I believe he is excellent in surgical skills as well as bedside manner. He covered every part of surgery and recovery in detail. I highly recommend Dr. Mora.

Dr. Mora seemed very shy and almost uncomfortable in our "meet and greet" group session. He didn't even give any background of himself, he just got down to the business of the meeting. I asked specific questions about his credentials, etc. Then, when I went for my scheduled appointment, he was very nice and very friendly , and very thorough with me. I felt so much better about him after that visit! He seems very knowledgable and he's looking out for my best interest. He stressed aftercare, risks of surgery, and preparation for surgery. I'm tickled I found him! And his office staff were so friendly and never too busy for me when I called or needed to know something. Thanks April, Jennifer, and Tyiesha...you are the best!

My 1st impression of Dr. Mora was that he was the quiet business type, which he should be! Who wants a dr. who doesn't know his business? After viewing a video on WLS, Dr. Mora explained, page by page, the booklet given to us at the office. I believe him to be very competent. His staff is warm, friendly and very helpful. Dr. Mora explained, very well, pre-op, surgery and post-op. He emphasized water, walking and exercise. He explained just how WLS is a tool and not a sure cure. Dr. Mora makes you feel like you are the only one in his office. He doesn't seem rushed and ask several times if there was anything else I needed to ask or have him explain. I have attended a support group at the YMCA and found that to be very helpful with some of my questions, also.

I liked the fact that Dr. Mora was so straightforward. I still feel that he is a great doc. It also helps that my husband knew of him from working with referrals to him. I like the staff. I am sure I have driven them crazy, but they are great! They all stress aftercare. Alot! They also tell you right off what the risks are. I think at this point, his competence is best. I haven't gotten a date yet, hopefully today or tomorrow will have one.

Dr. Mora seemed very nice, young, and although his heritage is from India, he spoke "southern" with the best of them! :) He was very straightforward about the risks, benefits, and consequences of surgery. He required all of his patients to attend a group meeting, and to see a psychiatrist and a dietician. If a patient also has other risk factors, like a possible ulcer or sleep apnea, he requires additional pre-op testing. He seemed friendly enough, but he didn't seem like much for jokes, and appears to take his job very seriously. His staff seems very confident and comfortable with each of their responsibilities, and tell the patient what is expected of them, as well as taking the initiative in setting up pre-op appointments and insurance paperwork.

My First Impression Of Dr Mora Was very Good He Has A Great Bed Side Manner And Is very Patient With His Patients To Make Sure They Understand Everything And That He Answers Any Questions That You May Have.
Dr Mora's Office Staff Was Great And Very Help In Getting Appointments Setup And Explaining How The Insurance Would Be Filed
I Really Could Not Find Anything That I Didn't Like About Dr Mora Or His Staff.
Dr Mora And His Staff Emphasize Aftercare And Have A Great Structured Aftercare program They Have Addressed The Risk Of The Surgery And Require You To Attend one Support Group Meeting Before Your Surgery And I Think This Is Great Because It Helps To Be Able To Talk To Other People That Have had This Surgery And Hearing The Fears Of People That Have Not Had It Done Yet So That You Don't Feel Alone.
I Would Have To Rate Dr Mora As A Great Doctor He Has Both Surgical Competence And A Great Bed Side Manner

I will have my first appointment with him on 12/30/02. I haven't met him yet, but his staff seems very helpful. I'm a little nervous. Wish me luck!
1/30/03 I met with Dr. Moira. He is a quiet person but he was very knowledgeable and reassuring. He really knew what he was talking about and explained everything in detail in terms that I could understand. He never let me think the surgery was going to be a walk in the park. His staff was absolutely fabulous. They answered all my little silly questions without making me feel dumb. At first, there was a financial issue. But they had no problem rescheduling my tests for me.
2/16/03 As of Valentine's day, all my testing was completed and I was given a surgery date of 3/27/03. Because I have blue/cross, blue/shield federal, it won't be approved until after the surgery has been done. However, I am very confident that it will be approved. I start my diet on 2/27. I started collecting and storing the things I'll need for the pre-surgical period and the post op period. I found my protein drink and slim fast at low prices and I began buying them in advance so the cost wouldn't hit me all at once. I have already arranged to have the time off at work. My daughter, who had the surgery in October, has lost 80 pounds. She's coming to Prattville to be with me during my surgery. My sister will probably come down the week after to help. I feel really good about it. I'm not nervous at all. But, I imagine that the closer it gets, I will develop some apprehension. I've already started changing my eating habits. I've cut down on portions and cut out sweets. I've already lost 6 pounds. I understand that this is a lifestyle change and that I have to do my part. I am currently looking for an angel and I am going to attend the next support group meeting. There are so many things to do and think about and share. So, I'll say good bye now and keep you all posted.
