I had my appointment with Dr Anez at his Woodbridge office however he was out of town so I saw his partner Dr Halmi who was very nice. He was very easy to talk to and explained everything from beginning to end. The office staff is very helpful and Shannon should definetly be making more more than what she makes because of all the work she does. They are very kind and nice and very easy to talk to on such a sensitive subject. The Woodbridge office now has a full time nutritionist so now those of us in this area don't have to travel all the way to Fairoaks. I guess I'll give an update later as to their bedside manner.
I have had 2 visits with Dr. Halmi now and I think he is absolutely wonderful. He is very nice & completely understanding. He has emphasized the nutrition in the aftercare after surgery and he feels that I will have no problem at all. I understand he has a wonderful bedside manner, guess I'll be finding that out in a couple of weeks.
I meet with Dr Anez on 6/28/01 and found
him to be a delightful man. He explain in
detail while drawing what I was to expect
during and after surgery. His office staff
have been very helpful and open to any
question. I've have a second appointment
schedule 7/12/01 and looking forward to the
visit.
Dr Anez and his staff express that need for
you to follow the Post Op procedures and to
join the Staple Club. The Staple Club is a
group of individual you will find to help
you feel better about your discussion. I
went to my first meeting on 7/9/01 and was
amezed at the different types of experience
and idea that where present. Dr Anex have a
a strict structure for aftercare that other
patients have told that if you follow it you
will have little to no problems and that
adjustment into your new life will be
an easy one.
Will let you know about the hospital say and
surgery after I have it.
I met the doctor for the first time 2 years ago. He was quiet and seemed kind and capable. I spent the next 2 years deciding whether or no I wld have surgery done. After I decided, I went back to see him this year, he didn't spent very little time with me. Still, I had heard from my regular doctor that Dr. Anez was excellent so I went ahead with scheduling the surgery.
Appparently a big part of learning about the surgery is done by his office staff and nutritionist who I have an appt with later this week.
I liked Dr. Anez from the first moment I met him and that has not changed at all - well maybe it has. I think I like him even more so today because helped me accomplish one of my goals in life (weight loss). His staff has always been so helpful. There is always negative with positive I think and this is the case here as well - - and that is that Dr. Anez is tremendously busy, and unless you have an appointment, it is difficult to get an over-the-phone audience with him - but once you have his attention, he is all yours. If you are thinking about using Dr. Anez as you surgeon, you could not have made a better choice. He has always answered all of my questions, had a good bedside manner after surgery and listens to me when I tell him what is going on with my body. He stresses aftercare - encourages you to participate in the Staples Club meetings (gouup that meets monthly to discuss post-op and pre-op surgery. Dr. Anez is a very confident surgeon. He did cover all of the risks involved in the surgery as well as after-surgery, he was honest about what could happen and he also required a lot of pre-testing to make sure you had the best possible chance of having a successful surgery. I would give him an overall rating of WAY ABOVE AVERAGE.
I found Dr Anez to be a very upfront and to the point type doc. I sometimes felt that he didn't seem to offer me much information, but then again, I had already done a HUGE amount of research already. However, he always made time to answer every question I presented to him and NEVER made me feel rushed during any of our appts. He provides you with GREAT booklets that explain the surgery and provides a nutrionist that he has trained directly. This is a must with him so that you are trained on how to eat after the surgery in the manner that HE wants. The nutrionist also provides a huge amount of handouts and a booklet for post-op eating do's and don'ts. His office staff is very friendly...i dealt with the Woodbridge, VA office. Shannon was especially sweet and endearing and was always very helpful. Got to chat with her quite often during the LONG office waits. Since he does not hurry his patients, he often runs behind schedule so be prepared for this. He is very straightforward about the risks of the surgery...does not try to downplay them and will discuss anything until you are comfortable with the information. He has a regulated pre-op visit schedule that you have to agree to prior to surgery to ensure that you stay healthy. His bedside manner is really no different than his office manner.... straight and to the point. But again, if you have questions he will answer them all patiently and completely.
I have only met with Dr. Anez once, at my initial consultation. Now that I have been approved I have my 2nd appt. with him on 6/8/01. My first impression was that he was very thorough in explaining the surgery and what is required afterwards. I was so nervous going into that appt. that I don't remember thinking a lot about him specifically. The staff was very nice and answered all of my questions. He encouraged me to attend the Staple Club meetings both before and after surgery. Since meeting with him, I have heard excellent things about him from other patients.
Dr Anez and his staff our all very nice and are there to help in any way. The Nutrition Sally is wonderful. She is full of information as the Dr and staff are also. Dr. Anez is there to answer any questions you might have and no question is every a dumb question.
I am glad that I had found this office and staff. I am looking forward to working with them through my surgery and afterwards.
