My first impression of Dr. Richardson was very good. I first met him at an educational seminar for the New Start Program at St. Alexius Hospital in St. Louis, MO. He was very informative and I liked that he was very upfront about the risks and benefits of the surgery. Never once did I feel like I didn't know the risks going into this surgery. I felt very educated, but once again, I researched it for 5 years. The next time I met Dr. Richardson was at my initial visit prior to my surgery. He was again, very upfront and very brief. He seemed very busy, but very confident in what he was doing. This confidence gave me a sense of safety and security. I also felt safe in knowing that he had the most experience of the surgeons in the rest of the program. During and after my surgery he was always helpful when I had questions and always very caring and considerate, even the couple of times I had to page him after office hours to ask questions when I was concerned. He never once treated me like I should have known the answer or like I should be doing something else. I have great confidence in recommending him, especially because I have not had any complications (I'm sure that has a lot to do with the surgeion and of course, me following the after care plans).

Surgical competence, pain management and bedside manner are the best things about this surgeon. rnrnAccessibility is probably something that could be improved, but I guess if he is good that means he is in high demand so that makes sense.

My first impression of Dr. Richardson was that he was very knowledgeable and really enjoyed his work and his ability to help people. He was always willing to answer questions, even the difficult ones. He very clearly addressed all of the risks of surgery. Most of his office staff was very nice and competent but of course there are always a couple that aren't. One word about New Start is that you have to keep on them. Because they handle so many people it is easy to get lost in the shuffle. If you are expecting an answer from them and you don't get it in a reasonable amount of time, call them back. Most of the aftercare is from New Start staff. You only see the dr. for 1 wk., 1 month and 3 months. You also see the nutritionist at those visits plus again at 6 months. I would rate him very high as a surgeon and as a very compassionate man. He was very good not only with explaining things to me but also with my family. I would have to say that his beside manner and surgical competence are both very high.

I will meet Dr. Richardson tomorrow 12/5/06 Well I met him and he is a really nice doctor. I feel confident having him do my surgery. He seems to also have a nice sense of humor. He was apologetic cause he was late to the appointment.. now that's something that you don't get from to many doctors.

I really like Dr Richardson. He is no nonse with a pleasant personality. He is very knowledgeable and shows concern for his patients. Nancy was a lot of help. I had issues with Kathy not understaning an issue with insurance and co payments.

I am going thru a program called Newstart in the St. Louis area. Its a wonderful program. Like any other program it has wonderful people and a few that I cringe when I get them on the phone. I love my surgeon. I met him at the seminar I went to for weight loss and loved his speaking and seemed vey concerned about his patients. I have met him two times since and am very impressed with him and his bed side manner is excellent. Love the program and LOVE my surgeon!! Highly recommend him!rn

Dr. Richardson did my surgery 3/28 and I must say he was there for me and very concerned about my outcome. He is very professional but knows all the little quirks and was very reassuring to me and my family. You will not find another surgeon who is more experienced or as caring. I highly recommend him.

Dr. Norbert Richardson is a true professional and someone who truly cares and understands the challenges of those who can/do benefit from this life-changing and lifesaving surgery. I've known Dr. Richardson and his family all my life - his father also a M.D. brought me into this world.

I contacted Dr. Richardson's office in January 2005 (Patty handled ALL the details) and they had an approval from United Healthcare in less than 48 hours.

I would highly recommend Dr. Richardson to anyone who is a candidate for bariatric surgery.
