I met Dr. Floch when he removed my gall bladder two years ago. It was an emergency--I only met him for the first time in the hospital. And while we were talking, a commercial for St. Vincent's Hospital came on the television in my room. He looked at it and mentioned that he was doing weight loss surgeries there. I was embarrassed; whenever life conversations turn to weight, I'm embarrassed. And here I was, naked under a paper gown. So I quipped, \"I've been hearing a lot about that. Big business, huh?\"rnrnHe was quiet for a minute, and then said, \"You know, I have to take issue with that. Weight loss surgery has literally changed people's lives.\" rnrnAll I could think was, \"Great. I've pissed off the guy who's about to do my surgery.\" But his earnestness impressed me. We all make a living--but how many of us change people's lives with what we do? rnrnThe gall bladder surgery was a breeze. Recovery was a breeze. I'm going back, with an apology.
Dr. Neil Floch and his office staff, along with the staff at Norwalk Hospital, have made this experience much more pleasant and simple than I ever expected it could be.rnrnI was well-educated both pre-op and post-op. I know I am only at the beginning of my journey, but I am so very grateful to Dr. Floch and everyone who is with me for the ride. rnrnThanks to all involved, I feel hopeful about life and my future for the first time in a very long time. rnrn
Dr. Floch was wonderful from the moment I met him at the informational seminar. He makes you feel at ease and gives you the feeling that he will be there to support you every step of the way. My initial consultation with him and then my pre-op consultation only further solidified my opinion of him. By the time I had my surgery, I was so confident that I was placing my health and my life (literally) in the best possible hands. He is an incredible surgeon and a fantastic human being!rnrnOne thing I really appreciate about Dr. Floch is that he made it clear from the beginning that WLS is just a tool, but that I will have to work and make life changes. He has emphasized throughout the whole process the need to be consistent with follow-up and the importance of the support group, which I fully intend to take advantage of.rnrnI don't feel like I was just another source of income, but that I am a person that is cared about. I will succeed because I want to, but my success will come easier because of the support and encouragement of Dr. Floch and his team!rnrnI think that the only thing I could say as an area that needs improvement is when it comes to the office staff's handling of paperwork. Although this was only my experience, and others may have had a different experience, I found myself having to chase down paperwork from other health care providers (test results, letters of recommendation, etc.) that I knew had already been sent. It seems like many test results just disappeared. There is only one woman in the office, that I know of, who handles all of this, so I think that might have something to do with it. I was determined though, so I stayed on top of everything and kept the process moving. I can honestly say that this did not ruin my experience at all!
My first impression of Dr. Floch was good. My imoression of him has only gotten better with time. The office staff is fantastic. I would recommend him to anyone who is interested in having bariatric surgury. He is very good in aftercare. He sees you often after surgery. <y overall rating of him is very high.
Dr. Neil Floch was wonderful from the moment I met him. His practice requires you to attend a Weight Loss Surgery Seminar before you consult his office. This seminar is where I first met \"Doc Floch\". His presentation was thorough and honest. All the information was given in a realist perspective. Nothing was sugar coated and all the risks were explained in detail as were all the steps of both Gastric Bypass and LapBand surgery. During the presentation I felt that he was only talking to me. He made eye contact with every person in that room (there were probably more than 30 of us). He took time after the presentation to meet with any people that had questions or concerns. At my first appointment, he remembered me! I couldn't believe it. He not only made me feel appreciated, but that he took a more personal interest in those who seek his assistance. He was wonderful in our first consult, even with my husband who is normally reserved to himself. I have every confidence in the surgeon I have chosen and can't wait for the rest of my life to begin as a loser because of a winner doctor like Dr. Neil Floch. Update: I have undergone surgery and wanted to add that without all the after care that the office provides, I might be completely lost. The support offered by the PA's, Doctors, as well as the Psychotherapists and other patients has been truely a gift. I have made so many friends and have come a long way already. I just can't stop saying thank you!
When I met Dr. Floch, he made the consultation very informative. He explained the procedure in detail along with answering all my questions and concerns. After the first consult, I knew that I would be in the best of hands. From the moment I met Dr. Floch and his staff to the surgery and post op visits, they were always there to help me continue onto a life long change towards weight loss.rnIt has been 3 years and I live in Georgia now, still maintaining my weight loss. In August of this year, I had an abdominalplasty (tummy tuck) and for the first time was able to vacation in Florida wearing a 2 peice on the beach. Life is truly a Blessing...Thank you.
Dr. Neil Floch and his group, Fairfield County Bariatrics, have been the utmost of professional. I have been extremely satisfied, and grateful, for the excellent treatment I've received. Dr. Floch made me feel very comfortable and confident in his surgical competence, while patiently answering my questions and allaying my fears, which has meant a great deal to me. His P.A., Danielle, Demarco, has essentially taken over my aftercare and collaborates with the MD as needed. I have always felt that I'm in good hands. The office staff have been very responsive, from taking care of all surgery authorization to scheduling a same-day appointment in an emergency. The group has done a fabulous job of patient education as well as provided ample opportunities for support pre and post-op. I honestly do not have any aspect in which I have been dissatisfied with my over all treatment, from pre-op to the present. With the Lap Band, having lost over 100 lbs. in the first year post-op, I just have to say, Thank you Dr. Floch for changing my life!
My first impression of Dr. Neil Floch was that he is a kind, caring and compassionate individual. That impression increased over time, and was enhanced by his dedication to his patients and their well-being, before, immediately after and long after surgery. He is careful and methodical in his medical techniques and has a thoughtful bedside manner. I cannot say enough positive things about Dr Neil Floch and his associates, Dr Tim Erlich, Dr Craig Floch and their entire team of professionals in the Fairfield County Bariatric practice. I would rate them all 10/10.rnrnFuture patients of this physician and his associates should feel comfortable and well prepared by them regarding the risks and benefits of weight loss surgery.rnrnThe aftercare program is excellent. They provide a minimum of 2 support group meetings per month, and send out frequent communications via email regarding meetings, seminars, etc. rnrnI have nothing negative to say about Dr Floch and my review should not be suspect in any way. Afterall, these are my opinions, and I am most happy to report them.
I just wrote a tome about my surgeon and inadvertantly erased it. Here goes again. I am an odd duck in that I had a by-pass three and half years ago and everything that could go wrong did go wrong - except that I didn't die and I have my surgeon to thank for that. I was in the hospital for 2 1/2 months, 7 weeks in ICU. And I would do it all again in a heart beat. Neil Floch is compassionate, skilled, honest, and I truly feel I owe my life to him for two reasons. First of all, he was on top of all the things that were happening to me. I had four surgeries-one was minor- and through it all he was there for me - giving us the information we needed. advising us as to risks etc.rnMy first impression of him was that of compassion and that he didn't have the usual doctor's negativity for fat people. It was us working on the problem. Always he emphasized that this was a tool, that there was hard work to be done afterwards (and he was right). My first impression was right on. He never failed me. And if I ever have to have surgery again, it will be he who does it.rnHis staff was great - helpful - especially with the insurance stuff.rnYes, he has a structured aftercare program, but because I was in the hospital so long and then had a long recuperative period, I can't say much about it. I do know that the person who ran it was enormously helpful to me on a one to one basis after I was back in the swing of things and dealing with the food issues. rnThe risks were spelled out. I knew I could die. I knew there were other risks. The risk on having to live my life the way I was scared me far more.rnI would give him a 10 out of 10.rnAgain I think he is a highly skilled surgeon with an incredible compassionate attitude toward his patients. He likes us.rnJust to qualify what I've said, I lost 130 lbs, am no longer diabetic, no longer have sleep apnea, no longer hypertensive. I'm still a foodie, but won't go back to where I was so miserable.
