Dr. Wood was great!!

When I first met him during orientation he seem to not only know his work but I could tell he really did enjoy the type of work he does. He answered all of my questions and concerns, I felt real good about making the decision to have wls AFTER speaking with Dr.
Wood.

1/25/05 - My first impression was that he was friendly and extremely knowledgeable. At the group patient consult, he gave extensive information in great detail. At my private consultation, he was very empathetic and addressed my concerns while giving me the feeling he really cared.

My impression of Dr. Wood was that he is soft spoken and kind. He also carried himself with confidence but not cockiness which is a personal pet peeve of mine when it comes to doctors. My impression has not changed over time. His office staff was friendly and helpful. There's nothing I like least about him. Future patients should know that they are in good hands. I'm only 5 days post op but I know they want to see me quite often for after care. They did address the risks of surgery. To me surgical compitance and bedside manner go hand in hand and I thought Dr. Wood had both.

I love Dr. Woods. He is a very kind, sexy, and sweet Doctor.

My impression of Dr. Woods never changed. I continue to feel that he is the best in his field of work. He has a very kind face and voice that makes you feel like everything is going to be o.k. Did I mention that I loved him.

Future patients should know that Dr. Woods is the best, "the greatest of all times" when it comes to bariatric surgery.

Dr. Woods went over all the risk in having bariatric surgery and the aftercare of bariatric surgery. After he went over it with me has his nurses emphasize the risk and aftercare of the surgery.

Overall, I give Dr. Woods an A+++++

I really felt that Dr. Wood was a cool upfront person. My impresion of Dr. Wood hasn't changed. The office staff are a great set of people. They are always very kind and helpful. They are very strict on aftercare. They scare you to death of what could happen if you follow the necessary guidelines. CORI has a very structed and detail aftercare program. The material that is sent home with each patient is phenomenal. I would give Dr. Wood a 9.5 in overall..no one is perfect but his program is darn close. I have to wait until I see my ending results.

I thought that Dr. Wood was one of the most personable surgeons that I had ever met. The staff at CORI were professional, as well they were very down to earth. It felt like I was with family!
It took me several years to come to the conclusion to have this procedure done. In making this decision, I researched several options, as well as Doctors that have provided this service. I take my life seriously and did not hold back on asking questions. CORI answered all of my questions and then some! They were planning my post op lifestyle well in advance of me having surgery! The risks were laid out in plain "laymens" terms and I did not feel threatened by fancy medical terms.
I am just 1 week away from the big day, but I am confident that once all is said and done that I will be just as happy, if not happier with CORI Centers.

In terms of what ranks highest with me as it applies to competence or manner. I feel that both are critical, as you need to be comfortable with the person that you are placing your life in the hands of. His/her knowledge of the procedure is critical as you only have one you!

A really positive, soft spoken individual who is very skilled at what he does. He wants the best outcome for his patients.

While the group consult was informative, it was also very quick. If you have already decided to go ahead with surgery, this quick consult is not a problem. However, if you have not yet made the decision, the group consult may lack the personal element many people desire. There is an individual consult that follows, but with so many patients to see, it does seem a little rushed.

The whole office consult was very organized and efficient.

Dr. Wood Was great he is informative and funny you get comfortable really fast.

Dr. Wood and everyone at the CORI Center is great they are all nice and helpful you can't go wrong with a CORI Centers Doctor.

I have a bad Back and My pain clinic doctor advised me not only to have this sugery but also to see the best Doctors. Last Year in Spain at the obesity conference My doctor got the opportunity to watch the hush come over the conference floor as the cori center doctors began to speak. They have the greatest reputation and record so everyone wanted to know what they are doing.

The Staff is always focused on you and the lifestyle change you are making they want every patient to be sucsessful.

I will not lie I was in some pain after surgery but I know it was worth it.

My first impression of Dr. Wood was that he had superb bed side manner! He was kind and gentle and extremely informative. He walked with me each step of the way through my maze of questions, anxieties and even my doubts. Dr. Wood drew pictures and reanswered questions as I needed him too so that I could try to fully comprehend what life would be like without sugar, carbs or a normal stomach. He was honest, funny when I needed him to be light and sincere. He always made time for me pre and post surgery and treated me as if I was his only patient. He worked closely with surgeon Dr. Sapala to whom I am also grateful. His staff was wonderful too...especially John Sapala,(Dr. Sapala's brother)a PhD in nutrition among other things with whom I still call on occasion for advice. I moved sortly after my surgery from Michigan to Southern California so I wasn't able to follow up as a typical patient. Sometimes I wish I was in Michigan still just for the access of these tremendous doctors. John has still made himself available to me, and I am eternally grateful to him for his knowledge of the post gastric patient, food, vitamin and mineral intake and reactions and endless encouragement. The most impressive thing I see that is different with Dr. Wood/Dr. Sapala, they treat the whole person, not just the fat person. They teach you how to live as a post gastric person so that you don't get sick by retraining how to eat, whoat to eat, food ideas, vitamin and mineral remplacement, protein replacement and even hair vitamins! There are even support groups. The rest is up to you! I have talked to many people that have had Gastric Bypass Surgery and they have not had nearly as positive experience as I had with my doctor and his support staff.
My surgery was three and a half years ago, and I know the practice has changed a bit. I'm not sure how the growth has affected the service or care, but I give kudos all around for Dr. Wood and John Sapala!
