I had my initial consultation with Dr. Fitzer today and I was very impressed with his professionalism and his ability to put a patient at ease. Based on what I've experienced so far, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him. My surgery is scheduled for November 11. Woo Hoo !!rnrnHis staff is absolutely wonderful as well. : )
He answered every question we had very completely.rnWonderful structrued program in place and gave very full description of possible problems.rnrnSeemed very comfortable with his work and emphazies that you MUST comply with all the diet restrictions and eat REAL food after.rnrnI would rate his bedside manner as competent. Not nearly as personable as Dr. Graber.
* first impression was brutal honest manrn* never didrn* he was an amazing person who cared enough to not sugar coat and baby anything askedrn*during my hospital stay after surgery Dr Fitzer came to check in on me between surgery's 3 times in a day and Sarah his coworker came and checked in on me as wellrn*although Dr Fitzer is not as known as Dr Graber his college i would 100% recommend Dr Fitzer as a surgeon amazing inside and out
Dr. Fitzer is very competent. He has been willing to answer all my questions. His office staff has been very courteous and attentive. Aftercare, followup bloodwork, support group attendance are all very important. I would rate Dr. Fitzer as excellent with surgical competence and bedside manner being pretty much equal.
Funny, but first impressions are always so superficial. My first thoughts were (because I'd seen his picture on the web) he's shorter then I thought and cuter then I thought. Ridiculous really. What's that got to do with anything but hey you asked for first impressions. As we talked I got the impression that this man was probably brilliant. He was very thorough about what the surgery entailed and what I could expect and what he expected of me. I felt he was honest and caring and not overbearing. He was polite, respectful, and considerate. He was also obviously very much in demand and very busy but he didn't let that get in the way of seeing to my needs even though he was called out of his office twice during our interview. He was very courteous to his staff and you could tell they had a good working relationship. The staff was outstanding in every way. I felt very comfortable in the office and interacting with the staff.rnWhat did I like least about him? Hmmm. Well, I wouldn't say I disliked anything about him but I know that if I hadn't researched and learned all I could myself about the surgery before hand I don't think I could have kept up with him. He talks very fast and gave me a huge amount of information in a very short period of time. He did answer all my questions in a relaxed manner, going over risks and their percentages, aftercare, pain control etc. Before I saw him his nurse went over pre-hospitalization readiness, day before, day of, and days following as well as answering any questions. What she couldn't answer (which wasn't much) she encouraged me to ask the Doctor. Aftercare is structured and clear with lots of support. Very complete information. I feel very confident in him and his staff. I know I will get good care from this doctor.
