My first impression as well as my sister (who is a nurse)was that I had found the perfect surgeon and I no longer had the fear of surgery hanging over my head.

The office staff is very busy and not as friendly as they could be.

I would reccomend Dr. Kirkland to anyone and feel confident that I had done them a favor by doing so.

Dr. Kirkland is also busy and does seem to take care of you at a fast pace. I feel I would rather have top notch in the OP and I can always chit chat with the nurses and interns.

I was very impressed with Dr. Kirkland and his staff. I found him to be extremely honest, knowledgeable. He strongly emphasizes aftercare - following the dietry plan that is given by the dietician, exercise, etc.

Only seen him once for a short period, the staff is very warm and sincere and warm

Dr Kirkland was very nice and understood alot of my fears and was very informative about them and i felt at ease more after talking with him, he also saw a group at one time so everybody heard what he had to say and answered any question the group might have that way everybody leared about everyones fears and adressed them in a group
His staff was nice all though it was small in there and had to move around things.
I would recamend Dr Kirkland to everybody who asked me, he discussed everything from just thinking about the surgery to aftercare and what you might expect to happen not meaning that it would like the dumping syndrome and so forth you name it he talked about it he spent 2hrs with us as a group and i think everybody was pleased and very informed in general. He went over all the risk in great lenght and answered any question you had. I would rat Dr Kirkland a big 11 on a scale of 1 to 10.

MY FIRST IMPRESSION OF MY SURGEON WAS HE REALLY KNOWS HIS STUFF.

IT NEVER CHANGED.

DR.KIRKLAND STAFF'S WAS NOT THE BEST BUT I GOT WHAT WAS NEEDED DONE.

DR.KIRKLAND HAS BEEN PERFORMING BYPASS SURGERY FOR 17 YEARS. HE REALLY KNOWS WHAT HE IS TALKING ABOUT.
AFTERCARE IS VERY IMPORTANT TO DR.KIRLAND.

HIS TEAM OF NUTRIONIST AND THE ONCE A MONTH MEETINGS ARE GREAT.
EVERYTHING WAS EXPLAINED WITHOUT BEATING AROUND THE BUSH.
I WOULD RATE DR.KIRKLAND A 10!!

He told us everything we had to know. How many people have had problems and died (1 and thats cause of what he ate)

His office staff is great. Very sweet and friendly and takes care of EVERYTHING from doctors appt with others to insurance. GREAT!

My first impression was that he was young and good looking and that made me skeptical. My first meeting was at a group meeting and I did feel that it was impersonal. After having time to think it over, I can see how difficult it would be for him to answer the same questions to 15 people individually since some people that were there were just in the thinking stage. Since then I also found out that he has been doing the surgery for 17 years. My initial appointment was May 11 and I received my surgery date on June 28 and the surgery date is July 19. I will see a cardiologist and pulmonologist this week. I will se the doctor, the nutritionist and I will also get the pre-admission testing on July 15.

Dr. Kirkland was wonderful from the first moment we met. He was very clear in what to expect and didn't leave anything out. His staff was as helpful and still is as they possibly could be. I really liked his honesty and the way he explained everything. He spent over an hour with me just giving information about his practice and the surgery itsself. I would have never had this done by anyone else. He is very adiment about aftercare, but its really up to you to follow through. I believe that both surgical and bedside are as important. The hospitals MUST educate the nurses more so they can help the patients a little. They were a little lacks i think. overall, my experience was great. no complications at all.

When I first met Dr Kirkland I was very impressed with him. He was very up front with any questions that I had asked and was very satisfied with all the info that he gave me. The consult went fine and I was convinced that he was the only surgeon for me. The office staff are the greatest and very attentive. I liked Dr K's openess and being very frank with any question I asked. This is a big decision in one's life and future and only the best will do. When asked about if anything can go wrong, like death he was very open and assuring to me. He really stressed about this being a life time commitment and a very important lifestyle change, all of which I was ready to do. I would truly and highly recommend Dr Kirkland for anyone thinking about this procedure. I am glad that I did my "research and homework" and found Dr Kirkland he is a true 10 on the scale of 1 to 10. Excellent bedside marres and was always available to answer and questions with fast response time. I had a severely pulled muscle about six weeks out on a thursday and when I called his office for help I was contacted within a few hours to help with any fears that I had and was very satisfied with the help. The only problem which I had was the long wait time from the consult and surgery date but you have to understand that he is a very booked up doctor with other clients. A wait that was well worth the time.

What a cutie! But aside from that.. ;-)
I was surprised when my initial consultation was presented with a group of 8 other surgical candidates. However, the efficiency of this format afforded much more time with the surgeon than any individual could be afforded. Every question was answered in an unhurried pace and we all benefitted from the benefit of hearing everyone else's questions and answers.
The office staff is very busy but also very efficient and helpful. The waiting room was a bit crowded and could benefit from some more accomodating seating for the larger patients.
