We were impressed that after an email requesting information Dr Pleatman called us. We were impressed with his knowledge and recommendation that my husband have a VSG vs the RNY. The helpfulness of his staff made this long distance medical trip run smoothly.rnJenny, Jo & Adele were very quick to help us and they were flexible with us when our flight from Portland, Oregon was delayed.rnThe VSG was performed at Doctors Hospital in Pontiac and the staff there was very professional and took excellent care of my husband that had the VSG 1/8/09rnWe felt confident going into this procedure about having Dr Pleatman and this was validated over and over as we talked to hospital staff during his aftercare. We learned that many of them had used Dr Pleatman for various surgeries or a member of their family had. Staff at hospital also said that he is very detailed and wants everything \"just right\". rnrnThat was very reassuring and we have never regretted the choice to travel by air 9 hours and to self pay for this chance of better health.rnrnWe would rate he as AAA in surgical competence and bedside manner.rnrnHighly recommend the VSG procedure and Dr Mark Pleatman.
I found Dr. Pleatman from this board. I was so impressed with him. He made everything clear easy and straight forward. He is a very calm person and very thorough.
His office staff are OK but a little slow in dealing with OHIP and hospital coordination but that is understandable as I was their first OHIP case.
Because he is near Detroit he was not able to offer aftercare.
I would give Dr. Pleatman a 9. His bedside manner is fine but his surgical competence is what I appreciated.
I guess the only other thing I would mention is that post surgical nauseau was mentioned as a side effect but not stressed and that was an issue for me.
Thanks Dr. Pleatman
I picked him because I felt he was competent and he did the procedure that I wanted to have. I would have had one of the complications with any surgery that I had but the leak was the fault of the equipment he used on my procedure and no longer uses. As far as the complications...he did react quickly and repair the leak laproscopically. He is very knowledgeable regarding the procedure and explained it thoroughly. Took the time to answer all my questions. His office staff is extremely supportive and helpful.
I was pleased with my initial visit with Dr. Pleatman. He was very honest and straight-forward about my obesity and wanted to assist me in obtaining a healthier me. The office staff is very helpful, pleasant and knowledgable. He discussed my co-morbities along with risks of surgery and how my life would be better after surgery. He willingly discussed the different types of WLS. I had VSG on 7/1/08 without any complications. I rate Dr. Pleatman as an excellent physician and surgeon. He has a dry sense of humor which makes him unique.
My first Impression of DR. Mark Pleatman was I thought he was very friendly / professional explained things very well . I would go back to Dr. Pleatman again if I needed to I woould highly rec - a - mend . He is very promt in calling you back e-mailing you or what ever be the case he is on top of it. HIs office Stafff was awesome can't say enough about all of them they were great. They go over after care very well with you in class and you can e-mail them anytime you need to ask questions or call. His bed side mannner was great my Husband said he really was inpressed with him Lol said he reminded him of his self so there ya go he has to be a good Doctor. rnrnI rate him a 10 Surgical , bedside manner and all above. rnTHANKs DR. MARK PLEATMAN / FOR MAKING A DIFFERANCE IN MY LIFE
Dr. Pleatman was straight to the point as well as informative. I found him to be very serious about what he does and to the point. The office staff was friendly, spacific, and to the point. There was nothing that I did not least like about my surgeon, he was great. If your going to be a patient of Dr. Pleatman you will find him to be responsive, to the point ,and good in his field. His after care for me as an out of town patient has been very good, he has answered all my questions and concerns promptly, the brochure given to me for my after care is easily understood and not hard to understand. The before surgery council was to the point, I was fully aware of what I was headed for, risk factors and all.Dr. Pleatman for me is a # 10 in my books, his surgical competence was an #10 as well,as for his bed side manner I found him to be straght to the point, stern but easy to talk to.
I have had a great experience with Dr. Pleatman and his staff. Since having my surgery, I have read many stories about staples, stitches, pain, nausea and many other problems that I never had. I always felt he was a great Dr., but now I am MORE sure since reading other peoples problems. Jo, his office manager, is always ready to answer any questions you may have. I, of course, probably like everyone, was a little apprehensive about the VSG, but I have had no problems or pain. Dr. Pleatman has a full aftercare program with a nutritionalist on staff to meet with anytime. I would recommend him to anyone!!
I like Dr. Pleatman. He is very honest and blunt. He will tell it to you like it is. Although his bedside manner is somewhat offputting to some, I didn't mind in the least. I wanted a skilled surgeon. Also, he does care about his patients and any time I have called the office with a question for the doc, my call was promptly returned by Dr. Pleatman. If anyone has any questions, feel free to contact me.
Responsive and interested. His staff was extremely helpful and thorough. I had a very odd experience, right before surgery. I don't feel that Dr. Pleatman was as aware of his effect on me as the patient, one minute away from going into major surgery.rn That all was not the way to go into surgery.rnrnI look forward to his post operative care so I hope that I come to forgive this freaky moment. Dr. Pleatman's materials do cover in depth all the risks of surgery. I will probably amend this description after my first year anniversary. Right now I don't want to create negative Karma. I chose Dr. Pleatman because of his numbers(80 VSG's) and I am from a state that is just barely beginning this surgery. I think I would like to have had a more personable surgeon, but if it's a choice, competence far out ways bedside manner.
