I only saw him for a minute, he had to run off to surgery. I wish I had more time to get to know him. My surgery is next week and I only saw him that one time, the rest was with his physician assistant who was very knowledgable. My only regret is that I didn't get to know my surgeon better. But I'm still going through with the surgery. The reason why I picked this Dr is because of the hospital. Brigham's and Woman's.
Dr. Malcolm Robinson at Brigham and Womans Hospital. His office was fantastic, Gina the PA has been the best I have spoken to her the most about my concerns etc. Dr. Robinson would be someone i would Recommend to see for anyone looking into this surgery (open RNY) Jennifer is the Scheduler I did all of my scheduling with her, she was always very pleasent. I would rate Dr Robinson a # 10 wahoooooooo=)
January, 2002: Dr. Robinson is a patient person. He let me have as much time as I needed to ask as many questions as possible, answering each one. He was informative about the procedures he performs, and the pro's and con's of this surgery.
March, 2002: I was a little disappointed that I didn't get to see Dr. Robinson before I went in for surgery. Last thing I remember before I went to sleep was the nurses talking to me, reassuring me. I did see Dr. Robinson however, on my second day in the hospital when he came to check up on me.
April, 2002: I had my first follow-up with Dr. Robinson on the 8th. His staff are amazing - I met first with one of his PA's and she removed my staples. I had a brief visit with Dr. Robinson, however he was very reassuring and positive about my surgical results.
I believe he is a knowledgable, experienced surgeon who cares for his patients, and has a wonderful after-care program!
I found Dr Robinson to be very knowledgable and kind.
Didn't see him much during the post op stay, so hard to say. Have only seen him once as follow up and he was ok.
I found his staff very kind and helpful. His PA was superb!
I found he had kind of a rushed type personality but I suppose he is a very busy doctor.
Forget any personality of any surgeon...all that mattered to me was that he was an excellent surgeon and my care was great.
Follow up appts with himself as well as the dietician are the aftercare program I am on. The dietician, Natalie Egan is amazing and I am thrilled with her. She listens and is so helpful, truly someone who loves her work.
He made sure I knew what the worst was that could happen...but as a consumer and as a nurse, I was well aware of those risks. The risks of doing nothing were far more dangerous to me than having the surgery.
I rate him as an excellent choice for a surgeon.
I'd like both, but am more than happy to settle for an ok bedside manner with excellence in surgical competence.
I was very impressed at first sight of Dr. Robinson. For some reason I expected to meet some old man with a stern face. But Dr. Robinson's was friendly and inviting. I felt very comfortable talking to him and asking him questions. He was very attentive and patient. I liked that.
The staff I met with were very helpful and to the point. I love efficiency! It's basically a matter of making a genuine decision of whether surgery is something that's right for you.
There was nothing I did not like about Dr. Robinson. He's quite a handsome doctor as there are many out there.
People need to understand the risks involved with surgery and the benefits. It can seem a little scary but I focused more so on the benefits than the risks. There are risks in every surgery procedure. If you do what is required of you, nothing but good can come from it.
There is a program that is available to patients post-op that includes a gym membership and counseling.
I'm comfortable with Dr. Robinson. If I have any questions or problems his staff is always available and he can be reached as well. .
Surgical competence and bedside manner are both important to me. Dr Robinson graduated from Harvard Medical School and Brigham and Women's has always been my Hospital of choice.
Just a quick update. Had my 1st meeting with Dr. Vogel at NEMC on 3-7-01.After 6 months of waiting it went far too quickly for me. Still haven't met Dr. Shikora yet, though I assume I will during the next couple of months. Well my search continues. I switched my DR to MALCOMB ROBINSON whom I met on the 1st visit after only a 3 week wait. Did my research on him and have only heard good things.. so YIPPEE for ME.He answered all my questions, was suitably impressed that I asked so many. Did not feel rushed. THe office staff are EXTREMELY PLEASANT, which really sold me.Will hear from them again in early JULY so until then...
Hello again. It is now 6/6/01 and I have a date!! July 11th 2001 I shall cross over to the other side.It has been a long haul. I must comment on the staff at new england medical center. be prepared to deal with very rude office staff.I cannot begin to tell you how rude those people were. Just to quote one of the women there... 'If you don't like the wait then go elsewhere, but you get what you pay for.' Needless to say I took my body and money elsewhere.
I am so pleased to be going to brigham & womans hospital. As I said before everyone is very kind and helpful. I pray they keep it up!
My surgeon is Dr. Malcolm K Robinson at Brigham and Women's in Boston Ma. My first appointment I met him, I didn't have to go thru nurses and dieticians and psychiatrists. I was impressed with this because I have been overweight forever, am intelligent enough to have researched this before hand, and know my own history. Every where else I called I would have had to this. Not that maybe all of this isn't necessary, but I'd rather meet first the guy who is going to stick a knife in me and take my life into his hands--then I'll go thru all the other stuff. I'd like to say that he was the most patient doctor I've ever met. I threw everything at him I could think of and more! He answered everything with respect and made me feel real at ease. His office staff has been wonderful as well! Unfortuneatly I've been declined on first go around with the insurance (I'm "only" 200# overweight and "only" have sleep apnea). The office women listened to me rant and rave and almost cry with utmost in kindess and patience. My only wish is that I wish they hadn't scheduled the surgery until I had approval from the insurance. I had had everything planned out with jobs and kid care. This was/is my experience only.
Well, I had my surgery, He was great, was the only surgeron to personally goto the family waiting room to talk to the family, all the other surgeons had been calling, and when he showed up, my mom said she almost fainted because she was sure it was bad news :-)He is still the most polite, patient doctor I have ever met!
