I like many of you looked far and wide for a fantastic Bariatric surgery and my surgeon Laura Choi MD is one of those. First she has as they say in the surgical business amazing and talented hands. Warm kind and gentile lady. Dr. Choi went out of here way to help my wife feel at easy and comfortable. She meets you were you are. I am just home from the hospital for a few days so will be able to add more as I start to experience it.

I have to tell you a funny story. When considering WLS, I decided to attend a support group meeting at Danbury Hospital just to see what it's all about. I was intrigued by what I heard. All these praises for this wonderful woman doctor. So I went home and looked on my insurance website to see if Danbury Hospital or the doctor was in-network. Looked under \"bariatric surgery\" -- nothing at all in Danbury area. Bummer. Looked up Dr. name. Nothing. Bummer. I was so disappointed. The following week I happened to look at the Danbury Hospital web site, and low and behold... a revelation. It's NOT not Dr. \"Joy\"!!!! It's Dr. CHOI! ha ha ha. Looked her up on the insurance web site and there she was! rnrnRead my December posting for more info on Dr. Choi.

I think Dr. Choi is great. Her office staff is very perfessional. I was concerned that being such a busy office they wouldn't be so efficient and organized but I was wrong. Haven't had any problems or complaints yet!

Dr. Laura Choi was an amazing surgeon. She was extremely detailed and took her time making sure that I was 100% aware of what the surgery would do, the possible complications and likely recovery experiences. I can't tell you how much it meant to me that when I was finally rolled into the operating room that all the nurses, med students and even the anesthesiologist were women!

Dr. Choi was in the OR while I was being prepped and rubbed my arm and told me everything was going to be ok as I went under the anesthesia. That was the last thing I remember and I know that it made all the difference in my surgery recovery because I was so relaxed.

The staff at Danbury hospital are always there to answer any question you may have, are utter professionals and cheer you on to becoming a healthier you! Many of the people I have spoken with who have had bariatric surgery at Danbury Hospital have had Dr. Zuccala as their surgeon, and I have been told he is wonderful. However, I couldn't recommend anyone more than Dr. Choi - it is her bedside manner along with her technical expertise that set her apart!! Rating 10++ !!!

my first impression was "OMG.SHE SO YOUNG" as time went by i built a relationship w/ catherine and all the support staff. they were wonderful and very very supportive.

there was a incident i had w/ the pulmology dept. i went to dr chois office histerical crying! the nurses and secrataries, put me in a room and immeditaly called pulmunology to recatify the problem!

any issues i had, no matter how minnor(im kind of a worry wart) they got back to me right away!

after care was Great! a day after i was home ifrom surgery, i found out i had pnemonuea developing. catherine told me to go to my primary dr right away. while i was there my primary called dr. choi and discussed what treatment should be done, all in a matter of 10-15 minutes! WHAT KIND OF SURGEON WOULD TAKE TIME AWAY FROM THE PATIENTS IN THE OFFICE TO DISCUSS A PATIENT IN ANOTHER DR. OFFICE? A GREAT ONE!

she answered all my question about sugery verv very simple. IT'S A MAJOR RISK! AND HOW WILLING AM I TO TAKE IT?

i have never found a more comforting, compitant,& supportive group thenthis one!

I was afraid Dr Choi would be stuffy. I am not sure why, I guess because I've been blessed enough not to have to deal with surgeons for myself, but I worked in an assisted living home, and accompanied one of the residents to the hospital when she had surgery. Her surgeon was a bit snobbish. But not Dr Choi. She was very friendly and down to earth!

She was very thorough in explaining the risks and the aftercare program. I have read nothing but great things about her, and have confidence with my life in her hands. She was very reassuring about some hurdles I have come across, and said not to worry. I can't say anything negative about her.
