Just a follow up...over 3 years later. Again..the staff (and Dr. Choi ) never cease to amaze me. So helpful and caring. I am so happy I put my life in her hands..Continue to follow up here. See mostly APRN Juanita and the dietician.

On first meeting Dr.Çhoi my feeling was she was a confident, knowledgable and pleasant women. rnI could not be happier with the choice of surgeons. Dr. Choi is amazing. Always a smile on her face and never makes you feel rushed. rnI'm sure she is amazingly busy but never makes you feel that way. She visited me twice in the hospital and took all the time I needed to answer all of my questions. rnHer staff and the staff at Danbury Hospital were always helpful and I even had to make a few calls to the office after the surgery and they answered my questions right away. rnI really can't think of anything negative to say. I went to the office in mid November and had the surgery on Jan 5th. I never had to deal with the insurance issues, they went out of their way to try and schedule my appointments on the same day so I wouldn't have to make many trips there. rnI could not have been happier.....highly recommend

My surgery was on 2/29/12, Dr. Choi was awesome she came to visit me before the surgery and insured me everything was going to be ok. She also came to visit me after and the day of discharge. She is so sweet and caring of her patients. Thank you Dr. Choi for making me feel that I was in great hands.

When I first met my surgeon I had a good feeling about her,she seemed to be honest and straight to the point and I like that about people. And every staff that I have had the pleasure to meet at Danbury Hospital were so wonderful, thoughtful, to me they made me feel good I was in a family setting. One thing you should know is having Dr. Laura Choi for a surgeon your in good hands! After my surgery Dr.Choi came to see me and check on me and explain to me how important it will be for me to listen and follow the steps and if there were any problems to never hesitate to contact them at Danbury Hospital and they all explained and made it very clear about all my risks that are involved with this surgery (RNY)She knows what she is doing and her bedside manner is wonderful just like her!!!!

I found Dr. Choi to be very personable. She is friendly and makes you feel at ease. Her staff is very outgoing, yet very professional. They don't seem to forget anything. I have asked several doctors about Dr. Choi and without fail she gets rave reviews and, in fact, a couple said that if they needed surgery, she would be the surgeon they would choose. I feel very comfortable with my decision to have her perform my RNY. Once I am operated on this coming Monday (August 9, 2010), I will try to remember to update this, but so far so good.

UPDATE: Almost 3 weeks post op...
The surgery could not have gone better. Dr. Choi saw me before I went in and I was very calm and comfortable. She has a really amazing bedside manner. She explained what would happen, joked around a bit and made me feel ready. Everyone at the hospital thinks she is great. They use terms like "very efficient", "like a machine", "excellent surgeon". She came to see me the day after the surgery and was again very supportive.

The only slight negative is that Danbury Hospital is a teaching hospital and the residents tended to be somewhat clueless. They come around in a group and check on you. One does the talking while the others observe. One tried to put me back on my oral meds for blood pressure that are huge. Much bigger than an M&M. I explained the size and he said there is no size restriction on pills. His colleague immediately corrected him, but that is the kind of thing I saw. I just ignored them and cleared things with Dr. Choi and my nurses. They were harmless students so I wasn't concerned.

Post op I am doing really well and have absolutely zero problems. My cuts are very small (1/2 inch or less for 3 of them and 3/4 inch for the other 2). All are healing nicely. I would recommend Dr. Choi 110%.

Dr. Choi was the nicest bariatric surgeon I met when I was looking into the surgery. I took each of the meetings I attended as me interviewing the surgeons, many were pompous and arrogant, and frankly my life is not to be in the hands of a doctor who feels that they are infallible. She has seen me through the lap band and now the RNY. She is kind, considerate, and concerned with patient care.

Dr. Choi was highly recommended to me, and I had heard really glowing reports as well; from her expertise as a surgeon to her sympathy and excellent bedside manner. She is very knowledgeable, understanding yet firm. I was extremely impressed.rnThe office staff as well are helpful, understanding and very supportive. She emphasized every aspect of the sugery from the before care/work to the after care including diet, excercise and support groups.

Dr. Choi is a very knowledgeable surgeon who is easy to talk to and a great listener. I feel very well informed as a pre op patient. The staff at Danbury Hospital's Bariatric Weight Loss Center have been wonderful, friendly and extremely positive. I feel well taken care of and greatly understood. Aftercare is greatly emphasized and the support meetings I have attended have been inspirational and terrifically informative. My nutritionist, Mary Lou, is a amazing wealth of information and a positive influence.
