I was very lucky so far, I called on a friday to set up my appointment, I knew it would be a6 months wait. Stephanie was the nurse I spoke with, she said she had a cancelled appointment for the following monday. I took it!
I was very glad that I called when I did, I truly believe that its time for my life to change.
Dr. Snow came in, explained the surgery to us - it was close to 12 of us in the room-answered all the questions that we had. He was very honest about the surgery. I have worked in the healthcare field for years. I fine that to be a good sign.
I'm waiting to hear from my insurance on my approval.
I look forward to more visits. Mona

I was very impressed with Dr. Snow and all of his staff. He was very imformative and did not mind answering any questions that arose during our consultation. I have just been approved by Blue Cross Blue Shield on January 17, 2003. I am not waiting to receive my letter in the mail to schedule my second consultation and blood work. I will get my surgery date at this appointment. Dr. Snow was very honest about the seriousness of this surgery and wanted me to be very well aware of the aftercare of this type of surgery. This, after all, is a life-changing surgery.

<p align="left">on my first visit, i thought Dr snow was very thorough in explaining the surgery even the risk of it. I wasn't too excited about the group meeting but then i had to realize that he is a busy surgeon and I probably got to hear more from him by meeting in the group than I would have one on one. My impression remains the same, I still think he is a very good surgeon and when I am actually under his care(surgery date), I will see another more caring side of him. The person that helped me with any questions for getting my insurance approval was very helpful and kind. I think Dr Snow's nurses could be nicer and more considerate to his patients. On my second visit, the nurse that took me to the room and took my vitals gave me and my husband the impression that she was not happy with her job. Maybe she was just having a bad day. I think that surgical competence is the better but it is nice when you can have a warm bedside manner and compassion and concern from the surgeon's staff. I hope to have all these and the best care ever from them all when I have my surgery.

Dr. Snow was a very open down to earth person, he set up on the table and I sat in his chair. I spillled my guts to him of how tired I was of fighting the roller coaster of fat. His wonderful staff, espically Claudia was very caring. My girlfriend and I both decided to do this on the buddy system. Flipped a coin and she went first. I glad she did tho, she made 2 trips back to the hospital for minor complications (her own fault) and he was very understanding. He stresses the importance of coming back for all aftercare visits. He went into detail of the risk of the surgery. Very comforting and straight up. This was in September that I went to him for an approval for January surgery, which my pre-op is scheduled for January 4th. The surgery will be the following week. So far everything is great!

So far he seems to be great. :) He's strict though, but I think that's a good thing. He calls 'dumping syndrome' a good side effect of WLS. :) I really think he's going to work out great.

I really wasn't nervous going into my initial consultation with Dr. Snow since two of my friends had used him. When he came into the room with me, he sat on the examining table and I sat in the chair. I offered to switch but he just smiled and told me that was the way it liked it - the table was more comfortable to him anyway (thank goodness because I would hang off both sides of it!) I know he did that to make me feel at ease. The first thing he asked me was "Why are you overweight?" I told him because of eating too much, not exercising like I should, and heriditary. He told me that the bottom line was if you eat more than your body needs you will gain weight. He said it was important to realize that since even with wls you may not achieve your ideal weight unless you take in less than what you actually need. He then went into detail about the surgery and answered all my questions. He said he would tell me at least 10 times how important it is for me not to overeat once the surgery is done. He said every single time you overeat it will stretch the pouch slightly. I did get a little emotional but he said it was ok that we were going to get through this. So, my initial impression of Dr. Snow and his caring staff was GREAT! I feel that they will work with me in whatever way they can to get my insurance approved. I did express my concern that the ins. might not be approved because I am borderline with no major problems. He said he didn't like to wait until there were major health problems but to prevent them from occuring. I like his attitude!

My surgery was on 4/10/01 and Dr. Snow did an outstanding job. I thank God that I found him. Would highly recommend him to anyone in the Mobile,AL/Pensacola,FL who is looking for a good dr. Also, Mobile Infirmary is the best hospital I have ever been in! Very attentive and caring staff!
