I thought when I first met him he was not in a hurray like most doctors. The staff was so nice and friendly and very helpful and still are. I credit Dr. Sasse for saving my life in more than one way. I was a smoker since I was 13 yrs old that is 30 yrs and because he made me quit smoking to have the surgery done by him I have been smoke free since Aug 31st 09 and will never return to it. I felt he was the hardest by far to get surgery done by he had so many rules to follow ect but in the long run it made sense so out of 5 other places to have surgery I went with Western Bariatric for the simple fact that they cared about the outcome and the drive to make it a success.
I met Dr Sasse on 9/1/2009 for my consultation. He is very nice and made me feel at ease right away. He is obviously very knowledgable in his field. He has a kind spirit, very attentive and a good listener. I feel very fortunate to have him as my surgeon. Dr. Sasse has written 2 books about wls, both are excellent and both are available on Amazon or at imetabolic.comrnPOST OP:rnDr. Sasse performed my LapBand surgery on 11/20/09 and it went perfectly. He visited me prior to the surgery and afterwards in recovery. My post-op appointment with Dr. Sasse at his office went great, he gave me great advice and was attentive to my questions. He scheduled me for my first fill.rnOFFICE:rnWestern Bariatric Institute in Reno Nevada is where Dr. Sasse's office is located. The staff there is very friendly and helpful with very positive attitudes. I felt completely comfortable and at ease. all their chairs and equipment is designed for bariatric patients. I never felt awkward or uncomfortable. There is a nutritionist on staff as well as people to help with your insurance and anything that might impede your progress. There is also a store on site with an excellent line of proteins and supplements by imetabolic. The building they are in is right next to St.Mary's hospital and the surgery center of Reno where they do all their out patient procedures like mine. It was very convenient to see a nutritionist, a psychologist, get my chest Xray, my RMR, my pylori test and all my lab work in the same building! Overall I have no negative comments and I highly recomend Dr. Sasse and Western Bariatric Institute.
Dr Sasse is the best! He is so knowledgeable that you automatically feel safe and in good hands. The program his office adheres to is a total package of information and care and support.......before and after your surgery. I had some abnormal complications with my surgery but never worried about it because I knew that he is so well experienced that there was nothing he couldn't deal with. That means alot when you are undergoing such a major surgery. He and his staff are totally dedicated to the subject of obesity and truly care about helping you. I feel so very fortunate to have been able to have him as my surgeon and recommend Dr Sasse very highly to anyone who is serious about wanting to resolve their weight issues.
Dr. Sasse was referred to me by several people in my office who had used him for the surgery. I went and saw him speak at the seminar and found him both entertaining and knowledgeable. One of my co-worker's husband had him as a surgeon and had some complications. Dr. Sasse actually postponed his vacation to make sure he was going to be ok. That was the thing which impressed me the most. rnrnI've only spoken to Dr. Sasse 3 times and each time was less than 10 minutes. Although I'm sure he would have been happy to answer my questions, I just didn't seem to have many because I'd been to all the support groups and read tons of books. I was a little disappointed that I didn't seem him before they put me to sleep before the operation, but so far everything seems great and I have no complaints. I would recommend him more on all the other testimonies I've heard rather than on my own experiences. rnrnI did speak to Dr. Gasner on the phone on three different occasions with concerns about things which were happening with me. He was the on-call doctor, and even though I'd never met him he was very compassionate and made me feel better and I was thankful for that too. He seems like another good choice. I've heard good things about him too.
Dr. Sasse was awesome. We started with a seminar on weight lost surgeries. Dr. sasse was the doctor giving the seminar. He was awesome. That was the first step to the best thing my husband has ever done. The more we talked to him the more we liked him. He gave us so much information at our first visit but it was great. His office staff are so great. I may have drove them crazy with all the phone calls but they always were so helpful. Tres did a great job helping with the insurance and Roberta helped us get all our classes scheduled. From the time we went to the seminar (1-08) and the day he has his surgery (4-14-08) was just at 3 months. They did a great job at helping us all the way thru the process. They are so awesome. Great place to go.
I originally consulted with Dr. Simpson in Phoenix who only does the Lap Band for safety reasons. Although I personally liked Dr. Simpson - his book was very good - I decided to go with a Bariatric Center of Excellence and LOVE Dr. Sasse there. The costs through Simpson's program that were not covered by insurance were markedly more than I will end up paying going through the Bariatric Center of Excellence in Reno with Dr. Sasse. The waiting time to see Dr Simpson was frustrating. I waited for more than an hour after my scheduled appointment time each time to see him and they overcharged me the second time with no reimbursement or explanation. Dr. Sasse's staff were all very professional and I was seen within 15 minutes of my appointments time. The expenses were much more in line with what I could pay and they explained everything thoroughly. Sr. Sasse's office was also very helpful with insurance, etc.
I though Dr. Sasse was very professional and seemed extremely knowledgable. He carries himself very well. When I went into surgery he kept my husband updated on my condition even though I was only in surgery for about an hour. I feel very comfortable with Dr. Sasse and I can tell he truely cares about his patients. His staff is amazing too. Everytime I have called with a question they answered it on the phone, or called me back within a few hours. I really appreciate how good they treat me.
I met with the surgeon on November 9th and I was very impressed. He is highly qualified and has a wonderful bedside manner. It's hard to find a surgeon with both of those qualities. I feel like he really has my best interest in mind and he made me feel very comfortable. The office staff is very helpful and have worked very quickly to set up my appointments. I have done all my testing and everything was submitted to my insurance for approval by December 28th! The communication has been outstanding and the follow up so far is awesome!
