I was extremely impressed by being seen on time. He explained to my husband and me exactly what he would be doing, the approximate length of time, outcomes, all the plusses and minuses. My impression has not changed. The staff is excellent, particularly Debbie. She worked with me for one year making certain that I was updated regarding denials and appeals.
Future patients must learn to be patient, this is a process. It is usually the insurance process that takes the longest not the doctor or his staff.
Aftercare is strongly emphasized and structured. On a scale of 0-10, he gets 12+!
Appointments can sometime be backed up, bring a good book to read while waiting or talk to other patients who are in the waiting area.
I just had my consult with Dr. Warnock. From just my first meeting, I would say Dr Warnock is truly concerned not only with the patient's welfare, but their understanding of the entire procedure and the life altering changes it makes.
His staff was great on answering questions and very friendly. I did have to wait 2 hours to see him but when you do see him, he doesn't make you feel rushed or hurried.
He really emphasizes support groups and stresses how you need to attend. He addresses all aspects of the surgery, including the risks. He makes sure that you are completely informed about the surgery and that you are really prepared for what is going to happen to you.
My Gastric Bypass Surgeon:
I had my first appt with Dr Warnock 10 Dec 2001, all went well. But I have had a hard time getting the lady who is responsible for sending in my paperwork to my ins co, to do so. She sat on it for 29 days. I thought she had already sent it in. Everytime I called her she would hem and haw around, never giving me a clear answer. Then I went to a local support group here where I live. It is Dr Barzune's group. He let me know that it is my right to call the ins co myself. This is what I did. This is when I found out the office lady of Dr Warnock had not even sent in my papers. My ins co (Tricare Prime) called the office lady and gave her their fax # and asked her to please send it in to them. Two days later she did send it in. Tricare has it now and are suppose to be calling me today to give me an answer. I asked them to call me directly at home. The Tricare people have been very caring and helpful. Tricare also let me know that the office lady of Dr Warnock's office submitted for me to have the surgery on 29 Jan 2002 (I just found this out today 17 Jan 2002). I was shocked that the office lady did not even call me to ask me about the date or keep me informed. I have been very disappointed with Dr Warnock's office lady who handles the bypasses. She has told me half a dozen times she would call me. She has never kept her word even one time and called me. Everything I've found out about my case, I've found out through the wonderful people at my ins co, Tricare.
Update: 18 June 2002: Tricare approved me after my first letter. The ladies there were just great. They called me at home to tell me I was approved. I had my surgery 06 Feb 2002. My surgery went well. Dr Warnock is great at what he does. I'm very pleased with his work. He is very caring. (I'm 4 1/2 months post-op and have lost 70 pounds. I've had no complications and haven't thrown up once.)
My pannulectomy Surgeon:
Dr William Wennen in Fairbanks, Alaska is at the top of his profession as a plastic surgeon. He does excellent work, has a great bedside manner, really cares about you as a person. He looks in your eyes when he talks to you, he Really listens to you, he cares that you understand everything. He cares about your pain level after surgery. He's patient and kind...on top of doing excellent plastic surgery. He is well known for his wonderful work on the human body. His office staff are VERY caring and are were there for me whenever I needed them. I have only good things to say about Dr Wennen and his staff. Thank you very much, to all of you at his office! Kathleen Saucedo
I was really impressed with him during my first consultation with him. He thoroughly explained the procedure and possible complications to the surgery. He asked me questions to see if I had put a lot of thought and prayer into the decision of having surgery. The staff have been very helpful. I was first denied by my insurance company, but was later approved, only 3 weeks after sending an appeal letter.
I have to tell you Dr. Warnock is one of the nicest men i have ever met and he has a bedside maner like an angel the first time we meet him we were one and a 1/2 hrs late seeing him my husband was ready to leave :) Dr. Warnock came in had him calmed down in one min heheheh, told you!! he cares about his patients and intends on being their dr for the long haul.
What really impressed me is that he encourages you to pray about your dession, I wish all Dr's. could be like him.
Debbie and the other girls are great too. Dr warnock sits down and explains everything to you about your surgery and after care so you can understand it and doesnt mind you asking questions.his surgical competence, bedside manner, are both great. he address the risks of surgery, also emphasize aftercare. on a scale from 1 to 10 lets give him a 10 for now.:)
Dr. Warnock seems like a very warm and genuine person. He is very up front and lets his patience know what he expects of them. The only complaint I have is when he removed my staples he was very abrupt and seemed in a hurry and I nearly passed out from the pain and he wouldn't let me sit down. But other than that he has always been very nice and helpful. He has a local support group that meets on saturdays and I wish they would meet some other day of the week so I could attend.
First visit with Dr. Warnock was very informative. His office staff is great. Debbie that handles insurance is great and busy.
Dr. Warnock is a very christian and caring man. He stress praying and talking with your family before making the final decision for surgery. He is present at support group meetings.
My first impression of Dr. Warnock was that he was very caring and compassionate. He was a very sweet man.
His office staff was very friendly and efficient.
There was not anything that I did not like about Dr. Warnock. He made me feel right at eaase.
I am very excited about this surgery and I am very greatful I chose Dr. Warnock because
I beleive he is the best surgeon ~ hands down!
Now I just have to wait for approval and a surgery date.
