My first impression of Dr Strom was that he is very approachable and just talking to him makes you feel good. rnrnMy impression has not changed.rnrnThe office staff is great.rnrnJust know that Dr. Strom doesn't make you feel bad because you are fat.rnrnDr. Strom has a structured aftercare program.rnrnHe did talk about the risks.rnrnI would rate him a 10 on a scale of 1 to 10. rnrnBoth his surgical competence and bedside manner are great.rn

When I first met Dr Strom could tell he had a passion for helping people with an obesity problem and would go to unmeasurable lenghts to ensure that approval would be granted. My impression of Dr Strom has not changed. When I made my commitment to him to maintain a doctor patient relationship he made that same commitment to me. The office staff at Montclair Surgical Associates are very helpful and friendly. Future patients should be prepared to commit themselves to the lifestyle change. Dr Strom stresses to all patients at the seminar/consult/discharge that aftercare is key to sucess with WLS. Dr Strom's office has a very structred after care program which includes nutritional counseling. support groups and personal training (Mountainside Hospital). It was explained to me that as with all surgery there are risk the key to minimizing those risk is sticking with the program. On a scale of 1 to 100 I would rate Dr Strom and Staff 1000 % my experience exceeded the expectation.

DR. STROM AND HIS STAFF ARE REALLY GOOD. VERY HELPFUL WITH INSURANCE ISSUES AND EXPLAINING THINGS. I LIKE DR. STROM VERY MUCH. HE WILL GET ON THE PHONE WITH YOU AND DOES MAKE HIMSELF AVAILABLE. HE IS GOOD AT EXPLAINING THINGS- IT'S GOOD TO RIGHT DOWN YOUR QUESTIONS SO YOU REMEMBER THEM AT YOUR APPOINTMENT TIME. HE HAS A VERY GOOD STRUCTURED AFTERCARE AND DOES FOLLOW UP FOR LIFE. THEIR IS A GOOD SUPPORT GROUP AND THE NUTRITIONIST IS GREAT. DR. STROM IS ALSO THE HEAD OF THE BARIATRIC CENTER AT MOUNTAINSIDE HOSPITAL IN MONTCLAIR, NJ WHERE MY SURGERY WAS PERFORMED. HIS OFFICE IS ONE BUILDING AWAY FROM THERE. HIS BEDSIDE MANNER IS VERY GOOD AND HE SEEMS TO BE EXTREMELY COMPETANT AND NO - HE DIDN'T PAY ME TO SAY THAT!!! rnMY BEST ADVICE TO ANYONE HAVING A SURGICAL PROCEDURE IS TO BE YOUR OWN ADVOCATE ALWAYS MAKING SURE YOUR PRESCRIPTIONS ARE CORRECT , YOUR CHARTS IN THE HOSPITAL LIST ALL ALLERGIES AND THAT YOU ASK WHAT YOU ARE BEING GIVEN IN AN IV WHICH IS THE BEST ADVICE NO MATTER WHICH DR.YOU SEE, WHAT FACILITY YOU ARE IN AND REGARDLESS OF WHAT PROCEDURE YOU HAVE. STAYING ON TOP OF THINGS WILL ELIMINATE PROBLEMS LATER ON AND RELIEVE STRESS AT THE SURGERY TIME.rnMY EXPERIENCE WAS DEFINATELY A GOOD ONE. UPDATE: 5 MONTHS POST SURGERY-56 POUNDS LIGHTER. FEEL GREAT AND MY EXPERIENCE WITH DR.STROM AND HIS STAFF HAVE BEEN EXCELLENT. ALWAYS THERE FOR YOU AND GENUINELY INTERESTED IN YOU AS QN INDIVIDUAL AND EXCITED FOR YOUR SUCCESS. THERE FOR YOU AT EVERY TURN.

I first met Dr. Strom in his weight loss surgery seminar held at Mountainside Hospital in Montclair. Before attending Dr. Strom seminar I had attended 2 other seminars and I liked the vibe I felt as he was addressing us. He has a wonderful staff in the Bariatric unit in the hospital that consists of nurses, and office staff. Also, Dr. Strom is establishing a center of excellence for obesity surgery that incorporates a multidisciplinary team including specialists in psychiatry, nutrition, pulmonary medicine, cardiology and plastic surgery. and nutritionist. His staff are well aware of the requirements for each insurance and walk you the whole step of the way to get your insurance approval.rnWhen I went to my first office visit with him he and his staff made me feel very comfortable. He took his time explaining to me the advantages and the risks of the surgery. At the end of the session he asked if I had any questions and as I took out my notebook with all 15 questions he smiled and said I like patients who are well prepared and answered each an everyone without hesitation or delay. I have done my homework and I feel I have made the right choice in choosing Dr. Strom and his team to preform my surgery. By the way Mountainside Hospital and Dr. Strom are members of the Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence in NJ

Dr. Strom has assembled a great team that diligently worked to make sure my surgery was a success. At the initial consultation he was in no apparent hurry and spent as much time with me as I wanted to discuss surgical alternatives. He explained the risks thoroughly but without provoking anxiety, and made me feel very comfortable about my decision. The staff helped deal with my insurance company and made sure I received the full benefits my plan offered. The nutritionists are first rate and very knowledgeable and I learned a lot from them. They also answered emails and took phone calls when I had questions. The support group meets monthly and everyone seems to have a few tips that we all find very useful. His post surgical follow-ups have been diligent, thorough, and reassuring. I had absolutely no complications or side effects of any kind. I think this is also due to his thorough pre-clearance procedure. All of the referrals were to specialists in the immediate area who saw me promptly. When the cardiologist suspected problems (later resolved) he kept Dr. Strom's office informed of my condition. I never felt I had to relay information between the doctors. I can't say enough good things about Dr. Strom and his team, and I wholeheartedly recommend them. Dr. Strom immediately put me \"at ease.\" Several doctors referred me to him. I have only one minor complaint: office visits usually ran late, but I also insisted on appointments after 3:00 PM so I wouldn't miss a whole afternoon from work. His staff always accommodated me even though I suspect they sometimes double-booked.

Well Dr. Strom certainly knows his stuff. The first time I met him was at his weight loss seminar at the Mountainside Hospital in Montclair, NJ. He was pleasant and answered everyone's questions. I was the FIRST person to make an appointment with him after the meeting. I found him to be again, pleasant and knowledgable. He is also nice looking and young...I wonder if he's married, LOL. His bedside manner is fantastic. He seems to be very concerned about his patients and my first visit he eased away my worries about my incision pains and was very complimentive. Even after the surgery when I had questions he would call me back with answers. I am extremely impressed with this because after all he is a very busy surgeon. Dr. Strom's office have monthly group meetings for all post op patients. They arrange for you to meet with an in house dietician, which is awesome. Their office is very well managed and everyone is extremely polite and helpful. They even helped me when I was called for jury duty.

Dr. Strom and his team are triple A-PLus group of people who actually listen to what you have to say and feel. His seminar is very informing and his team is very knowledgeable. You can never ask to many questions for them. They explain everything in detail from pre-surgery to the aftercare including the risks that are involved as with any surgery. Not only do they explain once they keep explaining (in detail) repeatedly as you go along up until the day you have surgery. I also would like to mention his nurse Fran Coon who is an exceptional person and works very closely with Dr. Strom and knows how to make miracles happen. You see I was rejected back in Oct. 2006 while seeing another surgeon who doesn't have a team or staff of people helping her. But once I switched surgeons and found Dr. Strom, Fran Coon and staff it was all systems go and she managed to get me approved within weeks! They even managed to arrange all my appoinments in the same day as well as within the same week and stayed in touch by phone, emails, and follow up letters. After surgery I plan on attending Dr. Strom's support groups that he has at the hospital where my surgery will be held and not to far from his office. So if you are thinking about gastric bypass or lapband surgery and you are in the northern NJ area check out Dr. Stroms seminars.
