Dr. Caruana is great .But it is true if he think's you reaearched the procedure enough he doesn't go in to a lot of detail.. but he did talk to my grandaughter ,and made her understand, And I think that is great.cause she is only 11,, as for Ronda she is also great ..So for now I only have good thing's to say .

Dr. Caruana and his office, were, in one word: WONDERFUL!!!! He and his assistant Mark answered questions honestly, treated me as a human, not just another abdomen. The office folks helped out a lot with insurance questions and other problems that arose with Independent Health (EWW!) I feel sorry that other subscribers in the future with IH won't be able to work with this wonderful doctor and his staff. His office has taken this task on very seriously. They have a registered dietician to work with patients before and after surgery and encourage participation in support groups. I can't say enough about Dr. Carauna, he just rocks!

My first impression was WOW....then I found out that Mark was the PA! He was very thorough in going over my paperwork. Dr. Caruana took my pressure, listened to my heart. He answered all the questions I
had and let me know the possible complications. I was quite impressed with him. I have met Rhonda and she was great. I've talked to Deann on the phone and she is great too!!

What can I say about a man who is about to change my life!!
When I first met Dr. Caruana I was impressed with everything about him and his office staff. Dr. Caruana was very patient with me, he answered all of my questions, and offered me a great deal of information about the surgery and what is expected of me in the years to come. When I walked out of his office I knew I made the right decision about the surgery and my surgeon.

Dr. Caruana's office is fantastic! I met with his assistant, Mark, first and he did an exam and history with me. He was wonderful. Then I met with Dr. Caruana, who explained the entire procedure to me and showed me some pictures of what was going to take place, and was very honest and forthcoming about the statistics, etc. I had some questions ready for him too and he answered them all. His receptionist/secretary is as nice and friendly as can be. I have heard from other medical professionals that he is an excellent surgeon. The only problem is is that he won't be accepting any new Independent Health patients (luckily I got in just under the wire). Apparently Independent Health feels that Dr. Caruana's patients don't need any aftercare, that they should just have the surgery and be done with it. But he's offering nutrition, cooking and exercise care for post-ops, and I think that's wonderful. He doesn't do lap yet, only open RNY, but that's alright I suppose.

Dr.Caruana is very nice. He and his staff made me feel hopeful for the future. There is so much support before, during and after surgery.wls is not a cure , it is the most helpful tool in helping me gain control over morbid obesity. He has given me the ability to change my lifestyle so that I may live a long healthy life.

he was very warm and also to the pointi have not changs my impressionof him. the office staff is also very warm and concerned about you as a person.after care is very important i will se him on 11/2/01 my sugery is 11/8/01 the day after my 34th birthday. ther is a support group there also. he touched on the risk of the sugery only for a min. or two.i would rate him over all a 7 only because i have only had a consult on 10/27/01 and we will meet again on the 2nd of november and i will let you all know if he rubs me the wrong way or not but i dont think he will.

I have only met him once.
I can't base an opinion as yet. But everyone he's worked on sings his praises.
I have'nt gotten into after care with him at all yet, but I'm told that after-care is available.
We really didn't talk of risk much, just of life changes that are imminent.
Dr's reputation as a surgeon is great. I have'nt spent enough time with him to know about bedside manner. Generally and personally speaking...Surgical competence is primary. Yet, if I don't feel comfortable with his attitude and trust him as genuinely concernced for me as an individual...the worry and stress could be an obstacle with surgery.

Dr. C seems very nice. He is very busy because he is one of the few in the Buffalo NY area. If he believes you have researched the procedure enough, he doesn't go into a lot of detail. He doesnt' use the throat thing ot the leak test.
He will have a nutritionist on staff as of Dec 1, 2001. I think he will have more time to concentrate on other issues.
His staff has been very helpful. He must write a pretty good letter because Univera accepted it the first time.
Let you know more after Nov. 29th,2001
