professional, knowledgeable Gave out written info and answered even the dumb questions with a smile.
He has warmth and humor also
Everyone in office has HAD surgery so they are able to answer all questions.
He requires an excercise program of one year and this is not paid for by insurance. Yet it is very reasonable.
Even tho I don't like the exercise I see HIM there on a daily basis, exercising.
Very much, the idea is to help you be fit as well as slimmer
Yes, almost too much but you feel cared for.
He gives a lecture and answers questions. There is a video you can watch as much as you wish.
You are given a notebook with copius amounts of data.
This is a great guy and an excellent surgeon.
I found him extraordinary in both areas. He was not abrupt even tho busy and he always has a smile. He and his staff really care about you.

I met Dr. Sosa at his seminar at the gym for those that have had the surgery with him. I thought he was very informative and answered any and all questions. He does speak a bit fast tho!
He has a great program for post-op patients which includes gym, nutritionists, vitamins and personal trainers. You do have to pay a lump sum for it, but i think its worth it. You have all the help and support in 1 place. I think its great.

Dr. Sosa was referred to me by a good friend of mine who happens to be married to a Dr. who practices at the same hospitals with Dr. Sosa.
Dr. Sosa has operated on many of the friends, relatives of several Drs. in Miami area. That impressed me first--If a Dr. is referring another Dr.to his friends and family, that in itself is a good sign.
I haven't been operated yet, but I understand that he only does this surgery lapriscopically. Then if absolutely necessary, if something occurs during the surgery and this is not possible, then he'll open you up.
I love the support group that his office has. Once a month he has a support group for post-op patients and any new potential patients. At first the group is split into 2 groups. The post-op patients have their own support group first, and afterwards are given a month supply of vitamins (more details about the vitamins later). The new potential patients are spoken to about the procedure and the Dr. himself steps in and has a question & answer session. After all questions are answered, both groups are joined and the post-op patients stand in front of the room (in order of date that they had their surgery) and each one states when they had their surgery, how much they've lost, and what has been the best thing/worst thing about having had the surgery.
Almost all post-op patients had the same regret; not having had the surgery sooner!
Dr. Sosa's post-op surgery does require that you sign up for the fitness/wellness program. There is a fee involved that is NOT covered by insurance companies. This is an out of pocket expense, but it seemed worth it to me. It basically consists of a one year gym membership. He's established a gym just for people like me. I don't like to excersice, so trying to get me into a Bally's or LA Fitness at 312 lbs. is going to be tough at the beginning of my weight loss, so it caters if you will, to the "not-so-in-shape" kind of person like me. This does include personal training, vitamins, and the use of the gym.
Overall, as a complete package, this Dr. was the right one for me. I'll keep you posted on my progress after my surgery on
9/18/2.

I called his office and the first thing they do is schedule you for an orientation, very helpfull, full of information. Dr. Sosa is part of the orientation, he throughly explains the procedure of the surgery. He asks/answers any question on the spot. They have thought of everything for you from pre-op to post. He as a cost of $5,000 for the post-op program, which includes a gym membership completly equipped with nutrionist and personal trainers, that will be with you on a personal basis for the first year of your post-op. Dr. Sosa and his staff are very professional and prompt to service.

He was very approachable. They seem to be pretty well organized as far as their plan and business goals. They have thought of everything for you from pre-op to post-op. He is easy to deal with and seems like a really happy guy. He is always smiling. I did not like that he requires $5,000 for the post-op program. He is located in Hialeah and so is his gym but I do not live nearby therefore feel that I am paying for something I will not be taking advantage of. It's a nice gym equipped with Nutritionist and Personal trainers. I guess he gives more than other people that charge $5,000 just to do the surgery with out any post-op programs.
