Jonathan Spitz Bariatric Surgeon M.D.,F.A.C.S.
Dr. Spitz is a very friendly and professional doctor, who is very knowledgeable about everything bariatric. His office staff is one of the friendliest that I've dealt with. The only negative point I've encountered is that he runs late for appointments often. They have a very structured aftercare program in place. He addressed the risks of surgery very clearly. I think he is a wonderful doctor and I would definitely recommend him. His surgical competence and his bedside manner were very good.
Dr. Spitz performed emergency surgery on me earlier in the year and when I found out he also did WLS I knew he would be the one for me. He is very nice and anyone I talked to about him said that he was very good. I did not have a choice with my emergency surgery, but I feel I lucked out by having him do my surgery. His staff is very busy, but they always returned my calls. I do not have any negative comments about Dr. Spitz or his staff. He is very laid back and easy to talk to. He is very serious about aftercare and the program that is in place seems to cover all the bases. He covered all the risks regarding WLS very well and I feel that I have all the knowledge I need to make a very informed decision. Even though I have not had WLS yet, I did have emergency surgery and I give him a 10! I will update after my WLS.
I met Dr. Spitz today, and I had a small advantage in that I was there for an appointment regarding my son. Dr. Spitz will be doing a splenectomy on him for a blood disorder. I have already contacted his office to start my bariatric surgery rolling, but I was glad to meet him under different circumstances, just to "check it out." I had a really good feeling about him. He's personable and patient and good at answering questions and laying out all the options. He's the only one covered by both my insurance plans who does the Lap RNY, which is the one I've decided I want. So I'm giving myself permission now to say I'VE CHOSEN MY DOCTOR!
The staff at CDH Bariatric Center are wonderful. The aftercare program is just right it is very structured. They have bi-monthly meeting for general support and bimonthly meetings for post-ops.
Dr. Spitz is the best. He is laid back and caring. He answers all the questions you have and then some. He makes sure you understand the risks and benefits.
The only thing I found hard to deal with is that on my 2 week check up is he seems a little busy at times. I would recommend him in a heartbeat anyways.
Dr. Spitz is a very warm and likable person. He is gentle, direct, concerned, and professional. These are all qualities I appreciate. All the people on his team are as warm and professional as he is, so I have a very positive impression of Dr. Spitz and his team.
His office staff is professional and kind.
Aftercare is a given part of the process, and a clear understanding of the process and the patient's responsibilities before and after the surgery is contractually required.
There is a very structured aftercare program, with the dates of return visits specified at the time of scheduling.
So far, I've been very impressed with him and his team.
He clearly delineated all the risks, and my special risk factors.
