Jonathan Spitz Bariatric Surgeon M.D.,F.A.C.S.
Clearly at the top of his profession. An actual caring advocate for WLS. Supports patients in their battles with insurance companies. Nice personality. Staff were very nice. Reassuring but realistic. Does stress potential neg. consequences but reports almost no dangerous complications. Over 500 WLS surgeries accomplished. Willing to listen and negotiate on issues important to me. Was willing to give me the scientific reason why or why not I could do something. Post op I'm happy I selected him as the surgeon for RNY.
I met Dr Spitz several weeks ago. He was informative, direct, and seemed competent. I have read testimonials from patients both in Spokane and in the previous area he practiced in. I know of the group of surgeons at Rockwood Clinic, and have great confidence that Dr Spitz will do an excellent job! The staff at the office are friendly and fast. Efficiency and timeliness are so important! Special shout out to Theresa Forsman RN my case manager! She holds your hand without seeming perturbed(gotta love it).The program is from a center of excellence so there is presurgical seminars and consults with surgeon, nutritionist, psych and others , and the aftercare program is even more stringent. My only negative "vibe" so far is at the seminar, the nutritionist was talking and came off as pretty biznatchy, I am thinking(hoping) she eats before I have to meet with her, maybe she will be less grumpy....
When I first met Dr Spitz in his office he seemed to be a very nice man, very knowlegeable with a great bed side manner and a good sense of humor... I have had my surgery and all went well. Dr Spitz is a warm caring man that takes the time you need and answers all of your questions. He is very encouraging and makes you feel like you are very important.. I had a wonderful experience with him.
I had my surgery with Dr. Spitz on October 19, 2009. He is fantastic! Very down to earth and shoots straight from the hip.
I had to leave the hospital with my drain tube in because he felt I was still having a bit too much fluid drainage to take it out. When I returned to his office a couple of days later he was so nice. Answered all of my questions and made me feel like I was a person, not a number.
His staff is fantastic! I have not had one bad experience in the almost year that I've been dealing with them. They are always kind, professional and very prompt.
Rockwood holds a support group once a month. It is top notch!
I had previously went to another surgeon in the area and am sooooo happy that I decided to go with Dr. Spitz instead.
He has changed my life and for that, I will be forever grateful!
I am pre-op, so I can't give an overall impression yet- but so far I think Dr. Spitz is wonderful.
He was the doctor who presented at the info seminar. I really liked him. I could tell he was passionate about his work and truly wants to help people.
At my initial consultation with him, my impression was even better. This man has compassion! I really don't think he judged me about my weight. Actually, he really made me feel like I'd be a success. And who doesn't want to feel that way?
His office staff is fantastic! They respond very quickly to emails and totally GET that we are excited about this process and want to get it done YESTERDAY! My caseworker Chris is a sweetheart and a very competant lady. So far Rockwood Bariatric program, Dr. Spitz, and staff get an A+ from me!
Dr. Spitz is recently added to Spokane's Rockwood Clinic (a Center of Excellence!) and I met with him on April 13th, 2009. He made me feel right at home, and asked me some questions as to why I wanted WLS, what I expected, and what information I had already researched. He told me that he considered me to be an ideal candidate for WLS as I am relatively young, with only 2 medical problems (recently-diagnosed diabetes and high blood pressure, both most likely caused by my obesity), and that I was well-informed and knowledgeable about the RNY procedure. He said he felt confident that I could lose close to 100% of my excess weight. It was SO nice to feel validated, because I had been feeling the same thing - that I would be a good WLS patient.
I know this shows my surgeon as being in Winfield, IL, but actually he is now in Spokane, Washington at Rockwood Clinic / Sacred Heart Hospital.
I met with my doctor and really liked him. He was extremely informative and patient with all my questions.
I went into the meeting with my mind set on the Lap Band. However, after learning more about gastric, I have decided to have the bypass.
I look forward to having Dr. Spitz as my surgeon.
Dr. Spitz and his team at the CDH Bariatrics Center are awesome!! From the moment I stepped into his waiting room I knew I was in the right place for me. Dr. Spitz is very laid back, open and honest. He always makes me feel comfortable with any questions that I ask (even the bizarre and off the wall questions that I came up with) and he has a way of just making me feel that I really can do this and be successful. He always takes his time and listens to what I am saying and I never feel rushed or like I am just another patient. I'm sure everyone has a certain type of doctor that they are looking for but if you want a real down to earth doctor with the best nursing and support staff in the world then I highly recommend seeing Dr. Spitz.
