John Romanelli Bariatric Surgeon M.D., F.A.C.S.

He is a wonderful, caring physician.
He is young, friendly and very informative.
I was very disappointed when I called on a Friday morning and was told that I need to call back on Monday because no one was in--When I explained that I just had surgery a week and half ago it didn't seem to make a difference.
I know people who have had surgery with him and love him, but again, they did not have any complications that I know of.
He seems to be very caring and concerned. I have had a very difficult time for several months and we still have not gotten the problem corrected but we keep on trying.
Yes, there is an aftercare program.

Dr. Romanelli was wonderful he really listened to what I had to say. He has a very positive outlook on everything he is very confident. His office staff is wonderful also they made everything so easy and were always there when I needed them.
I rate him and his staff on a scale of 1 to 10 they are a 10 !!!!!

Dr Romanelli made a very good first impression with me. I first met him at Jersey Shore Medical Center where I attended a pre-op meeting for bariatric surgery. He stayed afterwards and talked to everyone and answered questions. He seems genuinely interested in helping. He has made me feel that he really cares every time that I have seen him since. His office staff has been extremely friendly and helpful beyond words.
One of my most favorite things about Dr Romanelli and his staff is their attention to detail. They are thorough and make sure that everything is done carefully and safely. My sister had this surgery two years ago and I feel that her care and preparation were no where near as thorough. This thorough care makes me feel more confident about my doctor and his abilities and caring about his patients.

From the first time I met Dr. Romanelli, at a support group meeting, at Jersey Shore Medical Center, I was very impressed with him. In the months prior to my surgery, my respect and admiration for him continued to get stronger.
His office staff is wonderful. Everyone is helpful, considerate, and efficient. There is absolutely NOTHING regarding Dr. Romanelli, or his staff that I didn't/don't like.
Anyone that selects Dr. Romanelli as their surgeon should know that they are in very good hands, and have selected a surgeon who is at the top of his game. His care and concern for his patients is beyond reproach.
Dr. Romanelli's aftercare program is terrific. It is well structured and you only move from one step to the next when you are ready, both physically and emotionally. The aftercare program includes meeting with the nutritionist at every post op visit.
The risks of surgery are discussed at length in every support group meeting. Attendance at support group meetings pre op mandatory.
Overall, I would rate Dr. Romanelli, and his bariatric program, as top notch! I am so grateful to have had him perform my surgery. I have so much faith and confidence in him that I went into surgery not being one bit nervous because I knew I was in good hands.
I would say that I'd rather have a competent surgeon, but I also believe that a good beside manner is also important. Dr. Romanelli has both. He is the BEST!!!

I haven't met him yet.My consult was with his partner and his N.P. They were great so I can only assume that he too will be easy to talk to.I do like the fact that they hold monthly support meetings and there is a BIG emphasis on post-op follow-up care...ie nutritional and psych/emotional support.I will update as I get to know them all better. 7/6/2 I am anxiously awaiting a surgery date.I have had the psych and nutrition consults. My appt.is 7/17/2 and I am told that will be the day I get an official surgery date. UPDATE: It is 8-18-02 and since I am having surgery in 2 days I, of course, have met my surgeon. He was very nice.I was at ease with him.Would definately recommend him!

Well, I actualy had a consult with a different doctor prior to this consult..I traveled three hours to see dr. pasupathy and spent a total of 15 minutes in his office in which he rushed through all the information, didnt allow me to ask questions and had me schedualed for a surgery date by the time I walked out. After meeting with him I was very apprehensive to going to see Dr. Romanelli. I actually considered dropping the whole idea of surgery all together. Then on June 12th I went to jersey Shore medical center...Which was approx. 45 min. from my home. I was plesently suprised, although a large hospital everyone I encountered was very pleasent, from the registar's office to Dr. ROmanellis staff themselves. I spent maybe 5 min in the office waiting,& only had to fill out one form (they were kind enough to have gotten all the otehr info from me over the phone). IN the waiting room I met a woman who had the surgery a week ago and was waiting to get her staples removed..She also had wonderful things to say about the staff. I was then brought into a private room where the Administrator procedded to give me all the needed information. I was then introduced to the Dr. himself. ALl I can say is that I am so glad I decided on Dr.ROmanelli and his staff. They are not only kind and supportive but also very educational. I am once again looking foward to my surgery, but this time I am quite confident I will be well taken care of both before and after the surgery. I would highly reccommand Dr Romanelli and his staff!
