John Morton Bariatric Surgeon MD, MPH, FASMBS, FACS

At my first meeting with Dr. Morton, he came across confident, comfortable with the surgery I was asking for, willing to answer my questions and work with me on making the best decision for myself and competent. His staff was very nice on site, but difficult to get a hold of. I'll update more as the process goes on.rnrnOK. After surgery, I have no complaints about Dr. Morton. He is very quiet and I actually met more often with his fellow, Dr. Wool, whom I found quite likeable and easy to communicate with. If I met Dr. Morton in a social setting, I'm sure I'd think he was a very shy person. Very professional and knows what he's doing, but very quiet!

My first impression was great; my impression is the same. The office staff was \"mellow\". I don't know him well enough to not like him. He is one of the best. Aftercare is most important. There is a structured aftercare program in place. The risks were addressed both before and after surgery. I rate him a 10 so far. Both are great.

I think he is confident and skilled and very hard working from the experience I had with him. I never really got to spend much time talking to him however he is very very busy. I saw his fellows more than I actually saw him. rnSnappy dresser. He sure likes his clothes. I would say he is very competent as a surgeon....didnt spend enough time with him to be able to comment on his bedside manner. Not warm and fuzzy but not a grouch either. rnrnThe office staff was great. Monica and Meg were on the dime and helped me with everything I needed. I was grateful they were there for me. He is lucky to have them on his side. rnrn

Doctor Morton knows what he is doing. He originally said that my target weight was to be 220. Pre-Op, I thought this was way too high. But 1.5 years Post-Op, he was right. I am fluctuating naturally between 209-214. Awesome guy, cares a lot about his patients.

What was your first impression of him/her? Very well spoken. and well manner. rnHow did your impression change over time? It has not changed. He has always been there for anything I have needed. Even now after 3 years post op.rnHow would you describe his/her office staff? The office staff was very friendly!rnWhat did you like least about him/her? I have not found one thing yet!rnWhat should future patients know about him/her? He is very caring about his patients!rnHow much does he/she emphasize aftercare? Allot!!!rnDoes he/she have a structured aftercare program? Yes!rnHow did he/she address the risks of surgery? He address them exactly like the other surgeons I had seen!rnHow would you rate him/her overall? A perfect 10! The BEST! This was the first doctor that I felt comfortable and was not judgmental. And his fellows were great also!rnWhich is better, surgical competence, bedside manner, or are both great? For me is surgical competence and understanding of ones needs.rnI'm 3 year post op and I see Dr. Morton once a year and his fellows. And my experience has been great!

Met him at the informational seminar. Very impressed-seemed caring and supportive. Saw his assistant in first office visit. Will see Dr. Morton for pre-op on Friday, May 25th

Dr. Morton is a very kind and caring man. He did a great job with my surgery! I met him four times total while at Sanford, the man that is behind him is Dr. Lau, he was there twice a day to see me after my surgery pulled out my drain and PIC line when I was to go home five days later. Dr. Lau was so kind, funny, caring and very intellegent. He just acted like a regular person and was never pessimistic Dr. Lau is a Fellow at Stanford and plans on bringing the great tools he has learned from Dr. Morton at Stanford back to Las Vegas where he lives. I was very impressed with all of the doctor's bedside manners from the interns to the surgeons. I was not as impressed with the nursing care at Stanford. I had one really good nurse who was on the ball, Jan, thank you. rnrnDr. Morton has great staff at his bariatric clinic inside Stanford hospital. rnrn

be very careful and be prepared for unexpected complications. is it really worth it? NO! the surgeon needs to listen to the patient. a peson's life could depend on it!

Dr. Morton is great. He gives full attention in all discussions, and is very helpful in making me feel comfortable.rnrnHe was kind an encouraging to me while I was out for a walk in the hospitalrnrnHe spoke to my partner after surgery, and he was impressed with Dr. Morton as well.rnrnThe entire staff at Stanford was great as well!!rnrnSince Stanford is a teaching hospital, groups of Doctors would come in and speak with me.rnrnIt was kinda like being on Scrubs.

Dr. John Morton was and continues to be wonderful. He has knowledge, experience and a great bedside manner and is kind and caring. He gives 100pct of himself to his patient's and to the program at Stanford. He is a dedicated professional. We are so lucky to have him. He was my one and only choice of a Surgeon and that is why I chose Stanford. I also had Dr. Ramzi Alami who was also exellent. He is now at Kaiser South San Francisco. I will always be greatful to these men for helping me. They are my angels!!!
